We owned him until the sending off... was invisible.

feck him. He has the ref to thank tonight for his goal and the win. Without him we were the better team..

No even with him we were the better team. I am not saying they wouldnt have scored but it would been have closer and me thinks we would have nicked it in the end.

I know people will do the whole "feck him" thing, but it's been four years since he left and he's still respectful to us, which shows a bit of class.

I wouldn't mind him celebrating a good goal either, though of course not after that tonight. Fair play to him, especially when you see other former greats doing their best to slag us off...

Or course he didn't celebrate. He knew that his goal would seal our fate and there was no way for us to come back 10 vs 11. If he scored that goal in normal circumstances I think he would have celebrated like crazy.

He looked nervous, lots of poor touches, misplaced passes. He got the glory but no doubt the ref gave him a gift, shocker of a decision changed the whole game unfortunately.

I don't understand why he is being praised for not celebrating goals. It's the normal thing to do when you and your former have had this great relationship, it didn't take him some huge effort not to celebrate

Mostly peripheral. Piss poor "non-celebration". If you're gonna apologise for scoring a goal when you're a footballer, don't score it in the first place.

He played well, considering we didn't give him any space to attack. How many players would do well in his position? Of course that was before the red card.

Yep.

Fair play for the respect he showed us, but I do wish we'd stop going on about him, both the love-in stuff and the jilted ex-lover stuff. He doesn't play for us any more, he hasn't played for us for years. feck him.

And he isn't coming back here either.

when he scored against us i was sad because we were being eliminated from the champions league

but then, i saw he wasn't celebrating, and life was good again

right

It is the normal thing to do indeed, and most players in his situation do it, but it's also normal to get praise for it.

Nonsense. He was given more than enough space. He's just not that good unless he has acres of space. His passing was poor, his touch just as bad, and his shots meh ... lost possession plenty.

Spot on.

I swear there was one time when he could have smashed it on goal and he just meekly slid to De Gea. It was weird.

It was a bit like he wasn't playing flat out, as he didn't want to hurt us!

The open goal tap in was unmissable.

Who'd have thought we'd have gone out like this tonight. horrible.

Yeah, Ronaldo watch needs to stop really.

This.

I wish the idiots still worshipping Ronaldo would feck off. He scored a lot of goals for us but that was all to like about him.

Given his reaction to scoring goals against previous clubs before, I would say you were wrong.

Well you can be sure he would have been criticised for celebrating the goal.

A night when Ryan Giggs made his 1,000th senior appearance and was majestic throughout should have been the headlines tomorrow. I find it amazing some United fans would rather talk about Ronaldo instead.

People need to just grow the feck up, he acted properly throughout the whole thing. Get over it.

Yep.

he was crap. Even when he had room he just seemed to let possession go.

About right.

Nothing wrong with him showing the club that helped make him a bit of respect. Nothing wrong if he decided to run around the pitch screaming his lungs out after scoring the winner either for that matter.

It was just nice to see how classy he behaved is all.

I agree with this, especially on a night when a former favourite of mine disgraced himself completely in my eyes
