Cristiano Ronaldo

The only rewriting of past has been done from one side which has seemingly forgotten Ronaldo antics after we won the Champions League, he spent all the year fannying around Madrid. Don't get me wrong I still like him but he still acted like a cnut.

I disagree. The whole 'you can love him he only cares about himself and his ego and he never loved us back thing' that that article bangs on about is a load of fabricated nonsense.

You only need to know what Ferguson thinks about Ronaldo to know whether Ronaldo ever loved United back. Ferguson is sentimental with the likes of Giggs and Scholes but he can be ruthless with ex-players. If he for a second believed the tripe that that article insinuates would he express his desire over and over to have Ronaldo back?

caftards will be easy as hell to spot at the second leg at OT.

Danny and Boss will be the ones chanting Messi at him.

Cal? will be the single soul who stands and erupts with applause when he scores the winning goal to put Utd out.

I could never work out the whole "acting like a cnut" thing. Some fans seem to like to dream up shit based on feck all evidence. From the day he first arrived I always expected he would one day leave, I was amazed he lasted 6 seasons. He was always going to want to go back to the Iberian penninsula, his family is there, his culture, the weather etc. He always worked hard for us and people read too much in to his percieved petulance etc. He has never disrespected us since he left, I always thought he he gave his all. Utd had a major part in turning him in to the player he is today and he always acknowledges that.
Too many fans read into shit like unusual haircuts and expressing frustration etc.
You bring up his antics regarding after the champions league final but fail to list the endless antics he did which were great for us.
feck me its sad watching people get their noses out of joint about such silly things.

Hope he gets a great reception at Old Trafford, he deserves it.

Can people really not see why his behaviours would annoy some Utd fans in spite of what he did for the club?

Saying a day before the CL final he's staying with the club when infact his move to Madrid had been arranged months earlier. Running off on his own after an assist to celebrate himself as everyone else goes to the goalscorer. The slavery comments.

These things are bound to irritate people, and he does look after number 1. Even Neville who adores Ronaldo isn't shy in admitting that his driving force is his desire to make HIMSELF the best footballer in the world, to get these Ballon D'or's etc etc.

Exactly 010. The one thing I fear the most is that Real Madrid need to score a goal to win and Ronaldo dives in the penalty box and scores the penalty. I can imagine Mourinho running halfway down the touchline and Ronaldo doing his usual arrogant "calm down."

It's easy to sit behind a computer screen and type away that Ronaldo is self centered bs bs bs, but do any of you honestly think that any single sportsperson at the top of their game isn't? The amount of work and dedication to a skill to get to where they are is ridiculous.

Go out and train yourselves for 2 hours a day for a few weeks on a strict diet and I guarantee that you'll start to see arrogance and self appreciation creep in. Top pros virtually double that. Ronaldo just takes that to another level on the pitch, but he's also a level beyond 99.999999% of players as well.

In saying that, we'll thrash the pants off madrid so ronaldo isn't a big worry.

Its funny people bring up when he celebrates his own assists but conveniently forget the countless times he acknowledged others assists in his goals........

It's funny how people gloss over any or all of the flaws in his behaviours too to be honest. Just because he's a footballing god and did the business for Utd doesn't mean these can't be acknowledged.

Totally agree.

Always find it funny how some people got annoyed by him or his antics, or talk about him not respecting the club enough, or being too self-centered.

But when former team mates or managers speak about him, they do so in the most glowing terms.

If SAF still respects him and would welcome him back, then thats enough for me.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/alex-ferguson-to-look-into-small-print-of-cristiano-ronaldos-contract-8428921.html

Posting only to draw attention to a classic case of the Independent pretending not to understand that someone is joking just long enough to write an inaccurate but inflammatory/intriguing headline. The article then makes it clear that they did, in fact, realise that there's nothing newsworthy about the comments.

Not a bad article actually - and one where SAF expresses what I feel

"When he comes on to the pitch at Old Trafford he will get a great reception, quite rightly, after that they can boo him as much as they like.

"You have to remember, he came here at 17 and developed himself into a great footballer.

"We are proud of the part we played in his career.

"To get six years out of a boy when he comes to us at 17, we have done very well."

The most startling thing is that Ronaldo will be celebrated despite eventually demanding to leave, the move to Madrid allowing him to fulfil a childhood ambition.

"He always had a hankering to go to Real Madrid at some point in his career and we helped him on that way," said Ferguson.

"It wasn't disloyalty. I got another year out of him when he wanted go the previous year.

"He honoured that and did fantastic for us and then went with our blessing.

"My way of looking at it was that we were lucky to have him for six years. The United fans would share that."

You are forgetting of course the moments when the likes of Higuain, Kaka, Benzema or even Ozil score a goal for Real Madrid. I have seen it many times that, in spite of being one of the quickest players on the pitch, he is always the last to go and celebrate with the goalscorer.

Not at all. Unlike some of you who live Messi so much you applaud Barca for beating us in those 2 finals, I'd rather Ronaldo somehow misses those 2 games.

And this makes the guy a cnut right????

Fergie and Evra's comments have been so well worked. They both know the real cause of Ronaldo's unhappiness is that he isn't loved and worshiped in Madrid as he was in Manchester and they're playing up to it, fawning over him, buttering him up trying to exploit the sense of division in the Madrid camp between Ronaldo and his teammates. With all this talk of text messages its only a matter of time before AS and Marca start asking who Ronaldo loves more Man Utd or Real Madrid and why he feels the need to keep in regular contact with United players. I saw the comments on the AS and Marca articles about Ronnie not celebrating if he scores at Old Trafford. Some very choice words from some... All of this will just add to the tension for Madrid before the game. The psychological battle has begun.

I think most of our fans are used to the fact that winning things at Manchester United is the pinnacle of most of our players dreams, so I think that when someone has dreams and ambitions which lie elsewhere its hard to take and difficult to understand. I think that's where a lot of it stems from. You only have to listen to SAF and the players who played with him to realise he's still adored by pretty much everyone at the club

He's said he's not going to celebrate if he scores against us... but would anyone actually give two shits if he did celebrate if he scored?

As long as he's not going right in front of our fans and tell them to do one... he can do what he wants. Frankly, I'll be more annoyed about us conceding then being remotely concerned with what Ronaldo is doing...

The thing i dislike is the people who cannot accept that Ronaldo acted a bit of a **** when he wanted to move to Madrid and the shenanigans that were going on. I still remember the "slave" remarks and all this nonsense about his "dream" move to Madrid.

As i posted before, i won't care if he celebrates as long as it is not something like the Adebayor celebration when he played against his former club Arsenal.

I read the article which was posted about him not celebrating if he does score but that does not surprise me considering his respect towards the manager and the club.

Evras comments were spot on. What could have been, we have already discussed that but Ronaldo hasn't gotten the love and respect we gave him. Does any player though? Look how the England fans boo Rooney when hes off form, I would never expect that from us for any player regardless if he is shit or not. What happened on twitter to Gibson was disgusting, he was ours and should have gotten the respect.

Ronaldo would get the same love we have given him and imo would certainly win another Ballon D'or. Look at Madrid, they may be the greatest club but my god are they pathetic club at times. He should know what's good for him and I am sure he regrets his decision. Let him live in the hole he's created.

Why the feck would he regret the decision?
He's living in a city where the temperature is an average 8 degrees higher than Manchester where the rainfall if only 25%, he's playing for a club he's always wanted to play for and he's earning a fortune .... god he must be kicking himself!

Again, that is debatable since I am pretty sure that if Barcelona had stumped up 90 million in cash, he would have gone there and proclaimed that it was the team he supported as a boy.

Pass at 6:12... feck me but that's perfect. His passing is the least-praised part of his game but probably the most productive. It's so precise, whether over five yards or fifty, whether in a crowded penalty area or sprinting into acres of space on the wing.

Was driving behind his car today, had the numberplate CR 7, silver Bentley convertible. At first thought it might of been him as couldn't see the driver, though when I got home and saw him on the tele that dashed that theory :D

That's a question that doesn't really need an answer.

Am interested to know what Cal thinks.

Just some classless twat with too much money then.

He screws up a lot of chances because he's not a top passer. We've seen it numerous times v Barcelona alone when he only needs to take one man out of the game with a pass to set his strike partner through on goal and he screws it up.

Yes, he's not a percentage passer like Xavi who never puts one wrong. But he is capable of a huge range of fantastic passes, and when he does get them right they are very right indeed. Very precise, perfectly weighted... not the sort of passing you would expect from a pacy, athletic power-winger like him. He even throws in a lovely Scholes-esque cross-field every now and then, which is pretty impressive for a winger/forward whose job is normally to get on the end of those.

It does have a lot to do with whether the match is going well or not. He is one of those whose passing goes completely awry if he's frustrated with his own game (Rooney is another).
