I know Evita said 'don't cry for me Argentina', but there seems to be a lot of tears in Beunos Aires tonight.
Some of the stuff said in defence of Ronaldo is shite too, which is why I usually avoid posting in here but I had to laugh at that post by @TheShedEnd

This whole Ronaldo v Messi debate is ridiculous. People need to enjoy both whilst their still in such great form.

The same video was posted on 425 page. Thing is, the video title is misleading since from an 8 min video, only less than a minute is shown about Messi "diving". And in all of those cases were Messi "dived" except 1, you could argue that he had contact with another player. What Ronaldo does is flat out dive when the closest opposition defender is 5 meters away.

I know the video, the point is, he has dived. He doesn't never go down, as is being suggested. Basically every fecking modern footballer dives nowadays, nobody is a saint.

We're truly blessed, Messi of 09-12 was out of this world and Ronaldo of 13 to now is out of this world, and what does everyone do? Try and belittle one or the other.
I hope these two keep playing at this level for a few more years, I truly can't see us having the fortune of witnessing 2 players producing on this level for a long time.

Ok, last one. I'm not trying to say Messi is a saint, far from it. All i'm trying to say is Ronaldo has always been a big diver and people just won't accept that, especially United fans. You think most United fans would praise Ronaldo for his antics, if he didn't play for United at one time? Definetly not. Cristiano Ronaldo isn't even half the player Messi is, even at this moment. And i'm not even a Messi fanboy, I just see it how it is.
Actually, I think Ronaldo was far more influential in matches when he played for United.

Yeah, there's almost a weird obsession that's developed with comparing them. In fact, developed is wrong, since it's probably been around since about 2010 or so.
Suppose it happens with everything though. PS3 vs Xbox, Blur vs Oasis etc.

Buffon said as much recently. It's true though. Ronaldo can score all the goals he likes, end of the day in terms of sheer talent and ability with the football, Messi is in the realms of Maradona and Pele, Ronaldo isn't. That's undisputable (unless you've got a Ronaldo poster on your wall).

The point was his tally is actually pretty heavily inflated by penalties. I knew that anyway, it feels like he hits one every second week since he joined Madrid.
