That's what makes Messi so likeable. He usually ends up getting kicked off the park or rugby tackled to earn a free kick, rarely ever wins his own penalties simply because he can stay on his feet, thus the ref won't deem it to be a foul.
One day it'll cost him a serious injury though.
I'm still annoyed he only scored 1 hat trick in all of his time with us!

That's what I can't stand about him. He's much like Sebastian Vettel in the sense that people like them and think the sun shines out of their arse when the reality is that they'll do absolutely everything to win and that includes blatant cheating. Messi is a petulant little shit when it suits him and there's enough evidence of that both on and off the pitch yet because Ronaldo is the arrogant one on it, people side with Messi.
I actually think it's worse to be the hidden bastard instead of the one that's in your face because people tend to be blind to what you're actually capable of.

Indeed, I have eyes mate. However, it really does not warrant several pages worth of discussion.
I've seen acts of petulance from him on the pitch, every single player has it in them. You're not human if you don't, but we're talking about cheating here, and it's something Messi never does. You can pick the odd moment from his earlier years (like the hand ball goal he scored), but simply put he's the only player in the world who will not go down unless his legs are taken away.
Anyone who has a go at him for being a diver is a complete and utter cnut and should be ignored. We're constantly berrating those who do it week in week out and looking for ways to stamp it out, yet the one player in the world who should be looked at as an example is being, let's face it, villified by bitter Ronaldo fans. I'd like to think the Real Madrid faithful were a bit more sensible than that.
ELEVEN is thrown there just to make the stat more interesting. He became Barca's penalty shooter I think only in 2008-2009 (and even on that year, Eto'o took one/a few of their pens). So, it is basically on six years.
Also, Messi misses more pens than Ronaldo.
That's fair enough, I suppose. But at some point it just becomes a bit silly when the same posters are at it like clockwork and bringing Messi into it.

Messi's penalty record in La Liga is 32/36 = 88.9% ; Cristiano's is 43/46 = 93.5%.
It's the Copa del Rey where Messi's rep for missing penalties comes from, only scored 1 of 5 (!!). Also, 1/2 in Spanish Super Cup and 8/10 in the CL.
As for the bold, the only really, really big game where he missed one was the CL semi-final v Chelsea. If anything, in that particular category, he does better than Cristiano who's missed penalties in shoot-outs of a CL semi-final (v Bayern) and final (v Chelsea) and an in-game one in another CL semi-final (v Barça).

Ridiculous hyperbole. He's not an angel. He'll go down if he needs to. I remember him going down a few times when they needed to score against Inter in 2010. He's also done it very recently when they've been losing to Madrid in a Clasico. To suggest he's the only player that doesn't dive is the height of ridiculousness.

For the record, the point I was originally making was that the defender is an idiot for tugging at Ronaldo like that. Do that and you give him every chance of going down and winning a penalty. I never praised Ronaldo for it or said it wasn't a dive. Sort yourself out.
