Yesterday's penalty from another angle. This shit has to stop.

Franco must be behind this, right?

It truly is a terrible dive.

Why is the defender putting his hands on him though? Taking the risk that he will dive, which is pretty big and that Real will get the penalty which is nigh on 100 per cent.

That's harsh. Defenders having their hands on a player like in that clip isn't against the rules, it's ridiculous to say he was taking a risk. The focus should be on the embarrassing dive and the terrible referee.

Who was it who tried to claim a few months ago that he'd stopped diving, by the way? :D

Actually, that looks more like a penalty than I thought initially.

Anyway, Ronaldo has contributed a goal every 35 min. or so

He could not have 8 assists though. He is not very creative, so that stat must be wrong. :wenger:

Assists don't mean a player is creative.
Creative players often assist more, but assists don't make a player creative.

It's not against the rules but defenders always put their hands on players for no reason and with footballers the way they are now they know full well if someone puts their hands on them and they go down then the referees are stupid enough to give them soft penalties.

It's not ridiculous to say he was taking a risk and considering Ronaldo did go down and got a penalty then you'd say the risk didn't pay off.

The whole culture won't change until referees stop being utterly terrible so I do agree the focus should be on that.

It means feck all though? As long as the player is producing the numbers, there isn't really much of a stick to beat said player with is there?

Yea that dive is pretty pathetic alright, still, incredible achievement with his goals and hattricks. Happy as feck for him.

23 goals in 13 games already and 8 assists on top of that. The lad is really not looking like slowing down anytime soon. Incredible.

So on average he isn't far from assisting/scoring a goal 3 times per match. Insane.

in fact, two weeks ago messi scored two hattricks, one to beat the CL all time record and other to beat La Liga record and only three pages where added

he didnt dive, though :)

Can we just use the Ronaldo and Messi threads for what they were made for and not ruin both of them every week. There's a ronaldo vs messi thread for all of this rubbish back and forth instead.

The dive isn't cool. He's better than that. No excuse. There have been worse this weekend though. Anfield saw about 8 contenders on that front alone.

Another hat trick chalked up. Phenomenal footballer. In my opinion, the greatest ever. Not fishing there either, everyone's welcome to their own view but I'm just stating mine.

EDIT - with the short sentences that reads back very much like Schteve McClaren, Fc Twente, Arsenal, Champions League, etc.

Cause he's the best player Manchester United ever produced and a United legend.

you're a bit delusional if you believe that. And either way it still doesn't make it any less strange.

Anyway he must be on course to break every penalty record going, another one to chalk off his list.

Consistently playing at the highest level? Is that what you mean?. George Best, Puskas, Zidane, Cruyff etc etc etc etc etc the list goes on.
I was only alive when Zidane was playing and to say that he was as consistent as Ronaldo or Messi is simply not true. I am talking about 7 years of having a maximum of 2 or 3 months dip of form at a time and being consistently the best players in the world at any one point during that 7 years stretch. I can't say the same about Zidane or anybody else really. That doesn't mean Ronaldo and Messi are the best ever though as consistency is only one factor.

We turned him into Messi?!?! just kidding.

Remind me again who the current Balon d'or holder is and who is going to repeat again?

Every record is being broken by him. You can keep hating, but he's just a beast who's gonna make you even madder.

Don't bite mate, they are just on a WUM. In fact, all the hate just makes it even more entertaining to see him score goals and winning the Ballon d'Or!

There is lot of Photoshop scope. The way he puts hands over his head in protection, the ball can be replaced by a missile or something. There should be customary Cashley standing somewhere too.

Doesn't bother me. Most of the records are held by a guy a few years younger. Just find it amusing people are complaining about wind ups and nay sayers when you guys get upset and ran in like it's your first born child

It was a dive, no doubt about it. I wish he didn't resort to that. Anyways, he keeps this incredible production with goals and assists. Amazing form from the best portuguese player ever.

So now it was United that produced Ronaldo?

Sporting have a hell of an academy, obviously. However, I don't think anyone can argue against that Sir Alex and United turned a raw talent into the best player in the world. Some may use the word "produce" incorrect, as technically it was the Sporting academy that "produced" him yes. (Well, technically it was his mother and father, but hey)

I'm not arguing about that. What you say it's true and admited by Ronaldo himself. Ferguson above all and also Queiroz to a lesser extent. What i'm countering is what Ronaldo's Mum said that United produced him. It was Sporting that did that. It was Sporting that discovered him at Nacional in an early age, it was Sporting who pay his medical procedure when he was just a kid, it was Sporting who gave him a roof and food in the Academy. It was Sporting that gave him access to phsycological help when he wanted to get back to Madeira because he couldn't handle the pressure of being away from him family. And most important it was Sporting who gave him access to the best youth rank guru Aurélio Pereira (known all over Europe for his work on our Academy with Figo, Nani, Futre, Simão, Moutinho, Quaresma etc) and the best coaches in the country. Nevertheless Ferguson´s work and trust, Ronaldo's will and work ethic are main factors that had influence on his evolution. That's why he is so respectful and thankful to Sporting and United.

Absolutely agree.
