Cristiano Ronaldo

Punched the air in anger when Bale scored instead of him.

Rumoured to have called Messi a motherfecker in the dressing room too after finishing the game with no goals.

According to sources he tried to tea-bag Ancelotti for mocking his celebration last week too! What a cnut, he must NOT win the Ballon d'Or! Never again.

Quite worrying how some of you think you're being the cutting edge of comedy here.

Don't see what the sarcasm is about. Do people really think Ronaldo doesn't act particularly selfish and vein? Is that even up for debate? To use it to discredit him is silly of course but to argue against it is really delusional.

Some would call it hunger and desire, other call it selfishness. Who cares, he's a brilliant footballer.

Oh come on. You'd think there were players with hunger and desire in the history of the game. Ronaldo gives the impression of being more concerned about personal awards and records than most other players from Messi, Zidane, fat Ronaldo and many other. Maybe those guys are simply more diplomatic than him but one can't argue that he doesn't come across like that. He is more than a brilliant player I would say, he is maybe the best self-made player to have played the game.

What exactly do you mean by this? If you're implying that he had to work harder than Messi, Zidane, Brazil Ronaldo to achieve his current status as one of the best ever players that's nonsense. I think this is one of my biggest pet peeves in football that Cristiano has an aura of having to work harder than everyone else because he wasn't born with the god given talent the other elite players were, and had to build his body to perfection in order to perform. Cristiano has that god given talent and works just as hard as the other tier 1 players, but that doesn't mean the other players didn't work hard and simply became the best just by waking up and walking to the pitch. Take Ronaldinho for example. Why did he so suddenly fall from his mantle as BPITW to the Mexican league? He got complacent and didn't work hard. When he was at his peak, it was a combination of work + talent. Same with Ronaldo. Same with Messi. Same with Cristiano. The notion of "self made player" means nothing. Just because Ronaldo is a player whose image seems attainable ("oh he's good only because he has a greek god body") and most agree that Messi's game is hard to imitate, does not mean Ronaldo is a "self made player". They are both self made players. They were both blessed with innate gifts and the desire to work hard; you cannot quantity one had/did more than the other.

If you didn't mean this, I apologize for the rant

His celebration is fecking annoying. A goal crafted all by Benzema's brilliance, yet rather than running to him with a bit of humility, he runs off in the other direction with that extra smug 'look at me' celebration.

Where is @TheShedEnd? Why hasn't he come to criticise Benzema running off in the other direction, etc, etc?

It's not selfishness and arrogance when you actually are arguably the best in the world. It's called having a winning mentality. If he didn't have this hunger and desire he may not have been the player he is right now (the best) and would be just another top class player.

No worries mate, it was more or less what I meant. However, I am always frustrated when things like that are taken to the extreme. By self-made, I don't mean that Ronaldo has the talent of Phil Neville and the rest was hard work in the gym. I just mean that compared to Messi, Maradona or even Ronaldinho, Ronaldo wasn't blessed with the same level of god given talent. Actually scratch that, his game doesn't rely on that fluid footballing flair. He chose a path of extreme efficiency, he worked hard on skills such as shooting accuracy, heading ability, being faster, stronger and an out of this world stamina. Put it this way, if a scientist designed a footballer, it wouldn't be far off Ronaldo. He might have had the same talent as those guys, I don't know, he just doesn't play that way. Again of course all of this is relative to a unique elite. I hope that explains my point better.

It is actually possible to have a winning mentality AND be a bit vein. The two are not mutually exclusive. There have been plenty of top, top players who didn't show as much interest in personal glory as Ronaldo does.

you've got to wonder why Ronaldo doesn't just employ cal and the man himself to do all his PR shite, they're more dedicated than anyone at Madrid.

ronaldo did not celebrate many of the goals when he was accused of that

ronaldo does come across like a selfish player

ronaldo cares more about his image than about his team

ronaldo is a brilliant player and could be more humble

you may not like it, but that's how it is, and the fact that sometimes he celebrates other players goals doesnt change the fact that other times he doesnt

no mater what the "cum in my mouth ronaldo" clique here, in a very stupidly way, says

Name them, please.

cruyff, maradona, messi, distefano, platini, zidane, boby charlton, best, brazilian ronaldo, ronaldinho, eusebio, butragueño, raul, ruud
Thanks mate. It seems like
cruyff, maradona, messi, distefano, platini, zidane, boby charlton, best, brazilian ronaldo, ronaldinho, eusebio, butragueño, raul, ruud
Thanks mate. It seems like it's a crime to point out some sort of flaw. It is actually possible to be a fantastic footballer and still be obsessed with personal awards, just like it is possible to be less obsessed with those awards. This simple notion seems to be hard to understand for some.

The most brilliant part of this thread is how the irony is lost on those who don't like Ronaldo but are obsessed with him.

mate, you and the other idiots started acting like, well, you know (probably you dont), idiots and laughing at the rest of the posters that dont think that ronaldo's farts are french perfurme

instead of saying that ronaldo gave two assists you were making fun of the people that say he doesnt do that

so take it as you give it or else, go f y s

shows what you know, i'm wearing 'whiff du ronaldo' and over three girls have offered to sleep with me if i stump up enough cash.

Just tell me what happened that night that's made you so angry and confused. You can tell it to uncle Vato, Marcos. I won't judge you.
i love ronaldo, i just don't think that everything he does is great and deserves to be glorified and used to mock people that prefer messi

and you wont see me posting "messi scored a header this goes to every idiot that one day said he is not good at it"

The most "brilliant" part is that you're still rambling on for three pages now about a single post made three days ago.

What post made 3 days ago? It is a general observation which is going on for long.

hate? you and the others dont get it, i dont hate ronaldo

i have a very special dislike for some guys here that call you messi fanboy but they would eat ronaldo's diarrhea and claim it's caviar

Some great points, well made. They make this post relevant again:

The most brilliant part of this thread is how the irony is lost....

well, they are not as brilliant as your posts

sorry

and i wont lose a second quoting them, either you know wich they are, or you prove my point and are not smart enough to comprehend

cheers

The general observation about Ronaldo being selfish and being more about himself than the team (most of the time) is a fair one, and we've all seen it when he was playing for us too. Spamming the thread with green smileys/...jokes? will not change that.

First, I don't think it is a fair one, the general observation, and second, nobody is asking you to change what you believe. The counterpoints have been made long before in that regard and if you are interested, read up. Or you can toe the line of calling names to everyone who doesn't agree about the 'general observation.'

As against some very intelligent and smart posts made otherwise by others...I see...
