Cristiano Ronaldo

There are more pictures of Ronaldo on the Manchester United instagram page than some of the players in our own squad.

That's a bit shit if true.

Sounds about right, One thing I will say about the support in that friendly last night is that basically no one cheered for Di Maria, Our CURRENT best player, Yet people cheered and went crazy everytime Ronaldo got the ball. I understand it was more the 'day tripper' fans in the ground but still annoyed me..

20 league goals in 11 appearances...

Unreal.

So basically on track for 60?

I don't think he will get that many but around 50 would be an unbelievable achievement. Whats the record for a La Liga season?
*edit* its 50 for messi

Yep, am pretty sure he has that as his target.

He always slows down though, I doubt he'll get 50.

Am not saying he is the only player who does things like this, but still thought it was cool:

I'll never understand why anyone bothers to compare players from different era. If you put Ronaldo on that pitch he would destroy those players. They could try and kick him all they like but he's 4 inches taller and had 2 stone more muscles than the majority of them and would outstrip the lot of them for pace. That's not to say that it makes him better in the all time rankings than the best at that time, it was a different era and it's likely he would never become the monster he is today if grew up in that era.

Which then brings up the question, how would Pele have adjusted to our football? He might have been an average player in modern football while someone like Shearer might have been GOAT if he played in the 50s and 60s.

I'm pretty sure the hatchet men of that era would have done a proper job on the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. Ronaldo is physical but in those days incessant kicking and challenges, which would be an obvious red in this day and age, were the norm. Its not just Ronaldo's superior size, the non-stop kicking and a hard reckless tackle will hurt anyone despite their size.

I honestly can't see the likes of Messi and Ronaldo succeeding in that era and in all those shitty uneven pitches despite their superior physical conditioning. If anything I can envisage them lying pitch side with 2 broken legs from the repeated kicking from the hatchet men, a fractured head from heading that heavy leather ball and being abandoned pitch side for the fannies that they would probably be in that era:lol:

Pele on the other hand was certainly physical enough and would prefer this era for its relative dearth in hatchet men but might struggle to come to grips with the increased fitness levels of the modern game. However, I think he would have held his own and maybe even performed better in this era. Its all hypothetical though.

Messi got 3 and took the record tonight, over to you Cristiano. Viva.

mate, i said it before, it doesnt matter who breaks the record first, what's important is who helds it when this cl is over and Ronaldo is in the better team to play till the last game

i'm pretty sure he will be the top scorer, because i dont think barcelona will reach the quarter finals and i'm pretty sure real madrid will play for the eleventh CL

I sometimes wonder if Ronaldo would have become as great as he has if Messi didn't exist. Leo seems to drive Ronnie to continuously improve to keep up.

someone said that is the greatest sport rivalry ever and i tend to agree

cant think of any two great sportsmans that fought head to head for so long

i'm thinking maybe bjorn borg vs mcenroe or christ ever vs navratilova, but that's about it

His celebration is fecking annoying. A goal crafted all by Benzema's brilliance, yet rather than running to him with a bit of humility, he runs off in the other direction with that extra smug 'look at me' celebration.

He waves at Benzema as he sees him running behind the goal and turns around to hug him straight after his trademark celebration.

I sometimes wonder why people who dislike him so much like to watch and criticise him.

To be fair, I'd imagine most people enjoy watching him as a footballer for obvious reasons, even if they're not a big fan of the guy himself.

I just don't see the need of some to criticise every little thing he does, everybody knows I dislike Messi, I don't see the need to criticise him for his hairstyle, or whatever...

Aren't you the guy who constantly criticises Messi though?

I can see how Ronaldo's antics can annoy some people but it's when these people downplay his football ability that it gets a bit ridiculous.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored in each of his last 12 CL matches away from home (including neutral grounds): 17 goals in total. Unreal.

If I had his looks, his girl, and his wealth along with his football credentials, I would be as cocky as him as well.

I don't know why you're so butthurt about it.

To be fair, I don't think it's the cockiness that bothers people. Cantona, Best, Muhammed Ali and many others all were loved and worshipped when they were arguably even more arrogant. I don't know what is it about Ronaldo, maybe that his cockiness is charmless or not as cool or whatever, I can't put my finger on it to be honest with you. I don't hate him at all to be fair but I definitely can see why he rubs people the wrong way.
