I think his passing is severely underrated. He doesn't do a lot of fancy passes, but they are almost always on target, and his little one twos are terrific.

Also, has anyone else noticed that in games like these he imposes himself in the game when needs be - he can do a fair bit of walking around preserving his energy and springing to life when necessary. Rooney admitted that when he was younger he ran around aimlessly, or needlessly at times. Ronaldo seems to have worked out when to to make runs, when to partake in the game and when to let the others simply do the work.

Weird that he doesn't celebrate Benzema's goals though...

He never celebrates other goals, didn't even in the CL final until he scored. Doubt Real Madrid fans particularly care though.

Does anyone know a good place to see the goals? 101greatgoals seems to be shite now a days with boring articles.

Ronaldo has to win the player of the year this season. This man is really unreal. Like someone said on here, if you are averaging a goal a game it doesn't matter what else you are doing on the pitch.

I'll get slagged off again by those who worship Ronaldo on here, but he wasn't even the best player on the pitch tonight, scored a terrific goal, and yet this 'Ronaldo must win the Ballon d'Or' bollocks crops up again just because he scored.

It's pathetic. It'd be perfectly fine if he did (unlike last season), but the reasoning annoys me. If he wins it it should be for his contributions to Real last season, he played big parts in both Copa del Rey and Champions League successes and has been consistent throughout.

Anyone who mentions it after every game he scores in needs kicking.

But if he doesn't score fantastic goals and take so much attention it's harder for those other players to perform. Real Madrid weren't in control of the game until he changed it.

Its got to the point where its disappointing that he only scores one goal a match. TBH, he should have got more than one. It seemed like Madrid, especially the second half, were shocked at how easy it was and tried to walk the ball in at times which cost them goals.

Give James his due, it was a sublime pass to put him in.

Yes they were FFS. It was a brilliant goal crafted by Rodriguez and superbly finished by Ronaldo. That was the highlight of the match but Isco was by far the best player on the pitch and Modric and Kroos bossed the midfield.

It just doesn't need people coming in here spewing the same crap everytime he scores.

No they weren't. Their dominance came after they led.

It also doesn't need you to come in and spout the same shite every time either. You don't like him. We get it.

Are you a mod now? Stop embarassing yourself. It's the freakin Ronaldo thread. You sound like a broken record always trying to downplay his achievements.

20th goal of the season scored tonight is just absurd. Completely mindmeltingly absurd. I don't think any of our players will reach that tally over the whole season. And here's me thinking Falcao has had a decent start with us - he's got one goal

It wasn't too long ago that 20 goals a season was the benchmark for a top forward.

Ridiculous.

Enjoyed his tap-in tonight?

No it's not pathetic at all. If you have a player that guarantees you at least one goal per match, you have an absolutely amazing player and doesn't matter what else he does.

It's not because he "just" scored. It's almost as if going into a match a goal or two ahead. That's not saying Ronaldo doesn't do much else but even if he didn't his goal scoring record alone is crazy.

So yeah... it's not "every game he scores" check his record this season and then decide he needs a kicking.

I've only noticed it recently but you seem to have a bizarre obsession with Ronaldo.

You're just bitter. A player is constantly scoring goals. Yes we are going to come here and "spew the same crap" if the player is doing the same thing again and again. You should see a pattern here.

Stevie doesn't seem motivated at all. Not the same confident guy he was back in April. I think he knows he is in for a battering.

fecking hell
"I think that there were signs that he was a world-class player" What signs? Ballon D'Or maybe?

In 100 years time, if the earth still turns, people will look back at the Messi and Ronaldo era with an insane amount of jealousy. Honestly, what these guys have done and continue to do is just beyond incredible, and I'm glad I grew up watching them.

 You have issues.

He is right mostly there though. It's true that his game has reached a totally different level after going to Madrid. If that time he would have been called one of the best ever, there would have been many justfiable arguments. Now it is just haters who say so and it is really funny reading the pains they take to play down him.

He has been for the past two seasons. I was talking in context to this season though and he does.

The point is with his goal scoring record you really can not bring his other play into question. If a player scores as much as he has been this season then who cares what they do for the rest of the match.

Scientifically speaking, there's no doubt it will be!

He is talking about world class, not about best ever though. Of course he stepped up at Madrid and he will probably be up there with Cruyff/Di Stefano/Best in the end because of that Madrid spell. But "signs that he was a world-class player" is just a ridiculous phrasing, imo

He didn't score in either super cup match this year. Last year he didn't score against Valladolid or Atletico or Bilbao or Espanyol or Espanyol again or Osasuna or Osasuna again or Barcelona or Atletico or Granada or Betis. He's a great scorer but let's not get carried away.

Hmm ya. Yeah he said signs of world class and there was no doubt about that. Maybe he meant carrying it on and not just a player who did great for 2-3 seasons and then did nothing much.

He is up there with any name in the game till now already, not only Cruyff/Di Stefano/Best. By the time he retires, that will be cemented further :)

I'd imagine it's less to do with his performance tonight which was still fairly good, and the fact that he's generally an insane footballer with ridiculous ability. With the Ballon D'Or approaching in a couple of months, it's pretty natural that people are going to be bringing it up when he's probably the favourite for it.

There's always someone who is the best of all time at a particular time, in 10 years will be another guy just as 30 years ago we had Maradona.

He's complaining about El Clásico being on Saturday because it means Barcelona get a day extra rest...excuses well prepared.
