Still, we wouldn't want him back
It's almost as if goals are the manner by which football matches are determined. Fancy passes/minute is not.
Ronaldo is up there in the greatest of all time tier, obviously between that top tier it's impossible to truly determine who's better but I believe that without Messi, Ronaldo would be considered the greatest of all time(cos he'd have won about 6/7 straight Ballon D'Ors) and vice versa for Messi.
First, I certainly wouldn't dismiss anyone who put Eusebio in that company out of hand. Second, I never said it was only about goals. But scoring a goal a game for years in the modern era is a pretty decent start to establishing yourself in the GOAT conversation. If it was all about the goals then Eusébio would be considered up there with Maradona and Pelé, don't you think?
He's ludicrous of course but feck me how many penalties does he score.
25 hat tricks.
185 in 169 league games, 263 in 254 overall.
Silly.
What would you prefer at the moment, a solid defence or Ronaldo?Too old. Won't be able to produce for more than another couple of seasons. Looks to be deteriorating due to injuries. Can't hack it on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia. Can't play in a midfield two. Needs to bulk up.
Do not want.

He's not human, can't be.
If he wants to keep winning Ballon d'Or's he ought to stay in Madrid. The trophy is awarded on goals these days, and he looks like he's going to blitz Messi again in the scoring charts, who seems to have taken up a more selfless role (for the time being, remains to be seen how Suarez fits in there). He won't get that kind of luxury at Utd.
Ronaldo. You would of beat Leicester 6-5 with him. What would you prefer at the moment, a solid defence or Ronaldo?
Ronaldo's taken on a more creative role this season. He's more involved in setting others up than before.
No he hasn't. He has 1 assist in 8 games, and off memory I can't think of a single goal created through his own individual brilliance, they're poacher type goals (or penalties).
In fact, look at his reaction to Bale's goal then the one he scored a few mins later. He's still a selfish git, though I imagine Real Madrid fans won't care if he's grabbing crucial goals.
Where does he rank in an all time list? Ok he hasn't won the world cup but he is a multi time CL winner, Balon D'Or winner and has smashed so many goalscoring records as well as winning league titles. He has dominated football for about 6 or 7 years and isn't declining at all.
One of the greatest finishers of all time, right up there with Gerd Muller. In terms of his talent, he lacks the special x factor players like Maradona and Messi have. He doesn't do anything particularly amazing on the pitch, its his ridiculous goal record that's astonishing though.
Against Basel he played out wide on the right also. His role in the team seems to change from match to match this season so far as Ancelotti seems to be changing around players and formations regularly, trying to find his best team. Once Ancelotti finds it and sticks with it I am sure Ronaldo's role will stop changing.Ah. Cause assists are the yardstick.
What does that mean in bolded? So so easy to score goals, eh?
He was fantastic against Atletico Madrid from a deeper role than usual.
Marvellous isn't it?Literally every time Ronaldo does something good TheShedEnd comes in here discrediting him, it's hilarious
