Cristiano Ronaldo

IF Ronaldo ever leaves Madrid, it will be for us. Of that much I am certain, the hints are there. He might have an ego but he is genuine when he speaks of how dearly he loves this club and respects it. He won't receive the same love and reception he received at Old Trafford for so many years, anywhere else and he bloody well knows that.

we could bring him next year to replace RVP, that would be the only reason I would want to bring him in back again.. he is 30 next year and won't be better but still can manage to play at top level for another three years with his dedication and attitude. Van Persie lost a lot from his pace and is 32 next year so I assume it could be good to replace a world class ageing player with world class player, slightly younger.. Also Ronaldo would be nailed as starter so I think some younger player might struggle to get into the team than if he didn't come... In marketing way it would be fantastic and he could lure some other players with his name to join us... Him here would mean a quick success what Van Gaal seems to have as aim here as there is no doubt he won't be here for more than 3 years or so so it could mean that our planning is rather short-term but I guess that anybody of us would take ronaldo back if we won the season or two with him even if it meant that Wilson or Januzaj were slowed down in their development... As for me Id give him some nice number, say 29

I used to think the same but that's debatable. Most of us don't speak spanish and we really don't interact with spaniards who support Madrid on a daily basis.

I could only imagine what he'd do to this league these days. Whoever he'd sign for would wrap the league up with him in the team.

Strap yourselves in.

500k a week and a likely 60m plus fee? No thanks. I've always been of the "Move on" viewpoint where he's concerned, but he'd tear this league apart. Half that amount then it's a no brainer, but he'd be 30 at the youngest. It's a tricky one though obviously, he's a freak of nature. There's no precedent for his decline really.

I think that story linking him to us was put in the papers shortly after they were apparently mounting a bid for Hazard. Regardless, he can phuck right off. I don't care how good he is I don't want him anywhere near the club.

But Costa is fine? Strange.

Are we talking personalities or finances here?

In a weird way I'd almost like Ronaldo to go to Chelsea or City just so we can finally put to bed the cringeworthy worship of him at our club and just move on.

It's always bothered me how some of our fans support a Real Madrid player more than they support most members of our own squad. Madrid are a tacky team and I lost respect for him when he left us - champions and CL double finalists - for that circus. I didn't think it was the 'logical set up' that many seemed to swallow at the time.

He's a very self-centred player and given that we're building a new squad here I don't know that I'd want him turning it into the CR7 show.

Also I don't like the idea of signing too many more 30 somethings in attack.

That said, the sheer psychological effect it would have on our rivals would be massive.

Yes Costa's fine. He was exactly what we needed, a centre forward who can score goals and be a focal point of our attack with that added bite and aggression up front. He's the same age Drogba was when he joined us from Marseille and I became a fan the moment he started winding Pepe up.

I don't like Ronaldo one bit, brilliant footballer, but a knob to boot, and his selfish acts would drive me crazy. If Hazard did get tempted by Real or we were in for another attacking mid, i'd take Reus in a heartbeat over Ronaldo. Paying upwards of £60m for a 30 year old is madness regardless of who they are. We could probably get Robben back for much cheaper.

 Yeah, because Drogba, Robben and Costa are such angels on the pitch. Yep, their attitude is exemplary. Funny how Ronaldo is often portrayed as a cock, yet anyone that's worked with him seems to think he's a humble guy and a model professional.

That's what everyone says about Suarez too in fairness.

There's a major difference though. Ronaldo's show of pride/ egoistical nature is pretty harmless compared with Senor Suarez's catalog of indiscretions.

People really believe this?
It's not a ridiculous thing to say at all. Ronaldo was holding off on doing a contract extension until later in the summer after fergie retired, fergie said a bunch of things like having one of the best players in the world close to signing, and then stuff like Phelan saying something like "you all know who we mean when I say we agreed a deal for a huge player" (paraphrasing).
Also I'm pretty sure Ronaldo said a few months back that he had the option to go to united but signed a new contract with Madrid in the end.

IMO, Ronaldo won't leave Real until he breaks their all-time goal scoring record which he'll do mid next season at his current rate. After that, he'll be their leading scorer and has already won La Liga, Copa Del Ray and the CL with them. I can see him leaving at the end of that season, unless they give him another big contract in the meantime.

I don't doubt he's what you need, but it's odd that you don't see Costa as being worse than Ronaldo with regard to sportsmanship.

One a side note has anyone else seen how Falcaos wages change with every story? It's like they're just trying to make it look worse than it is..

I've seen:

£140,000-a-week
Then
£230,000-a-week
Then
£280,000-a-week
Then
£300,000-a-week
Then
£350,000-a-week
Now
£390,000-a-week
...Which fecking one is it

Surely his wages will stay exactly the same as what he was earning at Monaco, and then it just depends how much of that United are paying. I'd have imagined for a player of his calibre you would have to be paying all of his wages. The usually-reliable Telegraph put that at £265,000 which sounds about right.

Hello Guillem, what are the realistic chances of Cristiano Ronaldo heading back to Manchester United? How would he fit into Louis van Gaal’s system? Akash

GUILLEM SAYS: I do believe Manchester United are preparing an offer, or have got an offer prepared, for Cristiano Ronaldo and have had for months. I do believe he is thinking of going back, but there will undoubtedly be more on that later!

He'll come home, I'm sure of it.

de Gea
Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
Blind
Herrera Mata
di Maria Falcao Ronaldo
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I hope this is true and that it will mean that Perez will get his act together. I'm glad Ronaldo spoke out against the transfer policy. If Ronaldo does leave then hopefully Perez will wake up and start working smarter and make signings that are necessary. All the fans protesting against him should help also. With all Madrid's resources we should have a much better and more stable team than we do now and should not be entering a season after winning the CL on the back-foot playing catch-up like we have done. After such a stupid transfer window I am glad that Perez is facing difficulties and is receiving some backlash.

Ronaldo would be the perfect player for LVG's 4-3-3/4-4-2 diamond. The way the United forward line split to flank our #10 when we lose the ball, and then dart ahead of the #10 into central areas when we do have it would suit Ronnie to a tee. Ronaldo is much better suited to this role than Rooney, Van Persie or Falcao and he's a better player than any of the three of them.

If you can buy Ronaldo you buy him. Simple as. He's one of the greatest players to ever kick a ball. In the future people will look back at the last 10 years of football and see this as the Messi-Ronaldo era in the same way people look back at past eras and pull out names like Cruyff and Beckenbauer. You don't turn down the chance to sign an all time great, especially a great we made.

I think that photo of ronaldo in front of the tv is photoshopped. Either that or a version of that pic with a black screen is photoshopped...

Who's going to break the CL scoring record first then, Ronaldo or Messi? Ronaldo plays first tomorrow in what should be a comfortable game for Real. Seems absurd he got anywhere near close the way their records were two years ago.

500k a week with Chelsea in the mix, then MOTD showed a back page from some other fish & chip wrapper that said he may go to City, so basically there is going to be a full year of Ronaldo transfer speculation bullshit because there definitely seems to be a feeling he wants to leave Real for real this time. I'll stick my neck on the line and say if he returns to the PL it will be to us, no one else.
I agree there, if it was to happen it will be to come back home!

They'll both spend the next 500 years breaking each other's records.
