Cristiano Ronaldo

yes but for what price? I would take him for 45m but 60m pound is insane, he'll be 30 next year.

I'd rather we put the money towards Hummels or another world class CB.

Ronaldo is United history, a proud part of it but history nonetheless. We aren't a retirement club either.

He's 29, not 39 and he could still be one of the best forwards in Europe.

As for money, I suspect it isn't Ronaldo or defenders. I suspect a centre back will come in in January anyway.

I'd rather he was wrong about Ronaldo.

I'm happy for us to pay obscene amounts of money for Di Maria and Falcao, but Ronaldo is history. Maybe PSG can give him that last huge retirement paycheck.

I thought we were past caring about fees? We want quality. Ronaldo's return next season alongside a quality centre-back and one or two further midfield reinforcements is feasible.

So Ronaldo is not happy with the fact that Madrid are contantly buying and selling players. Not sure what to say about that.

<p>Calderon stirring the pot again, as he had done in past summers when this rumour came up, just to get back at Perez?

Shirt sales, and marketing would make it worth it at £50-60 million, just imagine front three of Di Maria, Falcao, and Ronaldo, the exact the same front three Madrid could easily have had this year.

It doesn't matter. We're not exactly short on attacking talent right now and I'd rather give chances to Januzaj, Pereira and Wilson then have Ronaldo waltz back in, demanding a huge paycheck and stunting their development.

Besides we have a shiny new no.7, and hes just marvelous :)

He isn't just a 30 year old though. He's apart of the footballing elite (by far in the top 2 or 3 players of the last decade) and an established United legend. Someone who both on and off the pitch would live up to that "he'd make your money back straight away" cliché. He's the only player in the world I'd pay top money for at that age. He's like the Terminator. He'd bury the Premier League for at least another 4 years.

Imagine if he signed for United again? I honestly couldn't imagine the hysteria from our fans. A lot of things make sense about this deal.

If you want to win things you need quality - and he gives you that. He's arguably the best player in the world, the type that can win games on his own. Every team wants a player like that.

You might get all excited because of yesterday as if titles are guaranteed but the reality is we might need more.

And for me, you don't not buy a player if Ronaldo's quality because you might have some decent youth players. That kind of attitude is what's got us where we are now. 99% of those players won't ever be good enough.

As it is it isn't star players or young players, there is room for both but the fact is we need to be competing for the top prizes and a player like Ronaldo is likely to help us do that. Hopefully we're back in the top 4 this year next year there should be plenty of games to give youth a chance.

Time to move on, in my opinion.
Barely any of that Champions League winning/final side are still here.

Time to create a new chapter.

I would rather have Bale than Ronaldo for that price.Which would be more beneficial as well..

Here we go ...
Ramon Calderon: Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Manchester United

http://www.espnfc.us/spanish-primera-división/story/2035879/ramon-calderon-fed-up-cristiano-ronaldo-could-return-to-manchester-united

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has told TalkSPORT he believes Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Manchester United after becoming disillusioned with life at the Bernabeu.

Calderon, the president who made Ronaldo the world's most expensive player when he brought him to Madrid from United, claimed the Portugal captain was disenchanted following the departures of Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria.

"My impression is he is fed up with the policy of the current president [Florentino Perez]," Calderon told Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"When he came [to Real Madrid] with [Arjen] Robben he thought he would be a good colleague for him in the team [Robben was later sold]. Two years ago, it was [Gonzalo] Higuain that was sold, and he didn't like that.

"Last year, he thought it was a mistake to let [Mesut] Ozil leave -- and the last straw was selling Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria this summer."

Speculation in recent weeks has suggested that United are keen to re-sign Ronaldo, and Calderon said the winger's affection for his old club could yet see him return.

"When I signed him in 2008, I remember he said he was grateful to Manchester United. He had a marvellous time there -- he likes everything. It is a really great club," he said.

Earlier this month, Ronaldo created a stir when he appeared to question Real's summer transfer business.

James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos were among the new arrivals while Alonso and Di Maria -- who Ronaldo had fought to keep at the Bernabeu -- made way, and the Portuguese responded by saying: "If I was in charge, maybe I would not do things like that."

There was further speculation about Ronaldo's future at the club when hetalked up a return to United and Di Maria told the "America & Closs" radio show: "I don't know how long he will stick it out at Madrid."

However, Perez told a news conference that his relationship with Ronaldo was fine, saying: "I know him well. He didn't want to be inconsiderate towards the new players. In addition, he likes them. I have no discrepancies with him."

Mis declaraciones se han malinterpretado. Ayer escuché a mi Presi y estoy con él al 100%.
- Cristiano Ronaldo (@cristiano) September 6, 2014

And on Saturday, Ronaldo wrote on Twitter: "My comments were misunderstood. I heard what the president had to say, and I'm with him 100 percent."
He has been very bitter towards perez since he has left the club and never misses an opportunity to stir up some controversy. The video Kid Moyes posted with Balague is a much better source, although Balague was quite adamant last summer that 13/14 would be Ronaldo's last year and that he was not going to sign a new contract and was running down his contract in order to force Madrid to sell or so that he could go on a free once it was up (there was two years left on his contract last summer). Tbh I hope this is true and that he is considering leaving as hopefully it will wake Perez up and he will realize the faults with the transfer policy and how utterly ridiculous the transfers in and out of the club were this summer. If Ronaldo leaving does not wake him up then nothing will. It is good that our biggest player is speaking out about it.

There is a romanticism about Ronaldo coming back 'home' that adds to it all. I'd be all for it regardless, he's the only player on the world who can be compared to Messi for a start.

Imagine Di Maria and Ronaldo playing out wide for us? unreal.

And we have to pretend his massive wage is nothing? I just don't buy it, 60m transfer fee + 65m 4 years contract, for that price we could find a next Ronaldo, 5 years younger.
Financially, I don't think it a good deal, if 30years old Ronaldo is really a cash machine, will Perez really want to sell him? But whatever, it's not like I'm strongly against this transfer, LvG'll have the final call.

You're transfer policy did deliver La Décima though, as much as it has been ridiculed it has worked?

I was tired of his histrionics and all the other unsavory antics that come along with him when he was here.

Personally, I like the look of the squad we're building without him and I see no need to tear that apart to accommodate him and his ego and the price tag that comes with it.

Who is that though? you're always taking a risk buying players who 'could' be top class, yes wages of course but fully expect one of Rooney, RvP, to go, or Falcao not to be bought is we got Ronaldo, so that saving would cover the majority of the wage.

If i'm not mistaken, Ronaldo would count as one of our homegrown players if he were.tl return under current regulations?

I want Pogba back more than Cristiano.

I would personally, Ronaldo back though would be amazing, he'd singlehandedly win us the league, your talking a 45-60 goals a season player - How long would you get that level from him though, 3 seasons? He's beast of a athlete though so may well still be at the same level for another 5-6 years before there's a dip.

Pogba though we'd have the best young talent in the world who could potentially be here for 10-13 years, he's the type of player we should build our team around.

Some right attention seekers in this thread sprouting nonsense about not wanting Ronaldo back because he will "apparently" stunt younger players development.:lol:

Why on earth would you not want the current Ballon'dor winner at your club? Not to mention a former player and United legend! He's 29 years old in his prime and with the way he takes care of himself, I can see him scoring 30-50 goals a season for another 5 years easily. We can easily accommodate him by moving shite out of our squad such as Valencia, Young, Anderson etc etc, not to mention the fact that we have make our squad bigger anyway for next season (Assuming we get into the CL of course :nervous:) This makes a lot of sense, he'd also be a money making machine for the club to milk, apparently Real Madrid have made over £200million because of him.

Real Madrid splashed a €70million world record fee for a 29 year old Zidane, the next season a 30 year old Zidane won them the Champions League. Ronaldo is arguably already a better player than Zidane at the time.

Everyone saying he's the past and he's history etc don't go back, look at cleverland and lebrons return, it's just an epic fairy tale we should embrace the prospect and watching rawk go into even further meltdown

Who'd have guessed that spending around €500m net in 10 years would win you trophies

De Gea
Rafael Hummels Rojo Shaw
Strootman/Herrera Blind

Di Maria Falcao Ronaldo
