Cristiano Ronaldo

I'd love to see Ronaldo back at United, even if he's 47 years old. He loves the club and has never said a bad word about the club or the fans. I seriously doubt that he expects to ''waltz back to us'' or that big bucks are his main motivation behind such return.

A journalist probably asked him if he would like to return to Manchester one day. He's hardly going to answer no to that. He gets asked the same question hundreds of times.

We need to let this go, it's been half a decade!

As great a player as he is/was, he gave his best years to another club. To come back here at the age of 33 and on big money would be an insult. We need to move on and develop the next one. Cheers for Moscow and everything 06-09, but it's the past and should remain so.

Calling it, reus will go to Madrid for the 35m euro release clause and take the no.7 shirt and they will sell Ronaldo to us for 70-75m pounds freeing up money to buy pogba for 60m. Over to you.

I reckon Madrid fans would take he loss of Ronaldo for reus and pogba. And before we suggest taking reus and pogba ourselves, that would be far too sensible.
Hope not.

Lets be realistic, there's more a chance he'll wind up as an ambassador for Real than United. He's had a more illustrious career there.
I'm not so sure, you can tell he genuinely loves the club. I think deep down he likes and appreciates Manchester United more than Real Madrid. Yes, playing for Madrid was a dream come true that he accomplished but I think his heart really lies in Manchester.

I said this to an earlier post and I will say it to this one too. Boss comment la.

I agree, no one is forcing him to say what he does about United. I still think Real will convince him to take up a position of some sort. He's going down as one of their greatest players ever, Di Stefano, Sanches, Raul and Zidane company.

He's played you like a fiddle.

You shouldn't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

He's a legend in my opinion. No point going on about his ability, but he is the single most exciting player that I've ever seen. He also spearheaded us to 3 league titles, 1 CL + a final the year after and a Club World Cup. Stuff of legends.

He is also only our 4th player to have won the Ballon d'Or.

This is clearly the reason we have kept Anderson so long and only loaned Nani out.

He is the best player in the world at the moment in my opinion, but he definitely has some mental issues (god complex or something). I recently found that he has a 4 year old kid (Cristiano Junior) and the mother is unknown - he has sole custody. No one knows what the deal is, but most likely he payed a lot of money, so he can have the kid all to himself - probably he went to a surrogate mother. Can you imagine - you could have any woman in the world to have your kids (or more than one woman if he wishes) and then you choose to have a kid and remove the mother from the picture...

Even if he does come back, how do we fit him in? We already have Falcao, Rooney, RVP, Di Maria, Januzaj, Mata. He's obviously the best, but who drops out then?

For Ronaldo? Any of them.

Certainly the best player in my 24years supporting. Cantona was the whole influence behind the developing class of 92 and the early titles, but Ronaldo was in a different league quality wise.
Arsenal and Liverpool fans would probably argue this one with me, but for me, the best Premier league player of all time.

It was interesting reading the debate about him or Best, and some people saying football is much better and faster etc now, and Best wouldn't cope. Whereas others countered by saying, you're the best in the generation you play in, and that's all you can go off.

I thought about a comparison with say sprinting. Now Jesse Owens was the best of his time, and now obviously Usain Bolt is. Who' the best of all time? Well it's Bolt because the sport has come on, and he's the quickest man who's lived.
I must admit I stick with that argument on Ronaldo v Best. Yes, the ball was heavier, and defenders would kick the sh!T and the pitches were rubbish, but the play was slower, players didn't have to be athletes etc. Ronaldo is a supreme athlete. I'm not sure anyone could argue Best was. And then you look at the years at the top, and it's a no contest too.

It's like comparing someone like Ronaldinho to someone. Supremely talented but only had such a tiny amount of years at the top

Not a chance, Henry was in a league of his own. Some of the things he used to do on the pitch Ronaldo could only dream of doing, and that's coming from a Chelsea fan. Smug git, but at his absoloute best he was different gravy.

Ronaldo turned into a better goal scorer at Real Madrid, IMO he's got arguably the best off the ball movement i've ever seen and he's not even a striker, and his numbers speak for themselves, but in every other aspect of play Henry has him beat.

There's a chance that if he just impregnates a woman to have kid, the woman takes custody of the kid. With his lifestyle of changing GF, most likely the court would let the woman to have the kid. So Ronaldo wouldn't have the kid. Then he has to give support to the kid AND the woman. It will be a mess and expensive process.

That's the case with pretty much any celebrity/rich playboy. Show me another one who has done something like that.

:lol::lol:

Give it a rest, Henry is and never will be on C Ronaldo's level. Even the United version of Ronaldo (23 years old) was arguably better than Henry, and don't get me started on 29 year old Ronaldo.

So would signing him back for a big fee and paying him huge wages add or detract to our 'identity'?

Can't think of any. But it shouldn't be different with celebrity adopting children, knowing their parents are still alive.

I really hate that I know this but, he ended up having a one night stand with a waitress in Los Angeles. She ended up getting pregnant. It seems that he paid her off so he could have sole custody.

Ronaldo is miles better as a footballer. It's not even a contest.

No way lol, I love Henry he was superb but Ronaldo was/is a different level.

Allegedly it was from a one night stand. Not necessarily someone you want to have an ongoing relationship with when raising a child is concerned. Ronaldo is more than capable of raising the child financially, plus he has his mother and sisters to help out.

Is he feck. Ronaldo's a scoring freak, apparently that's good enough to win you a Ballon d'Or these days. I'm willing to wager if you put a prime Henry in that Real Madrid side he'd be hitting similar figures, he was that good, otherwise he was a better player in every other aspect. Quicker, more technically gifted, and a better team player. His assist record probably still stands quite strong today despite leaving the league over 7 years ago.

Mate, you're having a nightmare here.

Wow. The delusion is strong. Henry wasn't even the best player in the world when he was playing, never mind being one of the best of all time like Ronaldo undeniably is. He has got more goals than games played for Real Madrid ffs. He's got more goals by the age of 29 than Henry has at 37. It's not even close.

Yes he is feck.

Sure, the award and the evil scheming people involved with it are the issue. Nothing to do with no one actually seeing Henry of that level other than arsenal fans and those stuck with their heads in premier league sand.

Also, it's lovely that you're "willing" to wager something that can't be tested or proven. You're really sticking your neck out on that one.

He was at one point, and he was robbed of the Ballon d'Or once by Zidane and once by Ronaldinho. Let that sink in. I'm still awaiting for someone to tell me just what makes Ronaldo so much better than Henry was, besides that muppet digs at my post.

Again, Ronaldo has more goals by 29 than Henry has at 37 (in 200 less games). It isn't close. At all. Henry never had Messi to compete against. Ronaldo did, and he's still won a two Ballon D'Ors.

I reckon TheShedEnd is a good example of how a player's performance against your team plays a much bigger part in shaping your opinion of him than you'd think. Henry tended to turn on the style against Chelsea in a way Ronaldo rarely did and that sticks in the memory. It's the same reason Chelsea fans have an inflated opinion of Hernández IMO. Henry was brilliant but in a couple of decades' time Henry's name won't even register while Ronaldo's name will be all over dozens of records and sat next to Messi on all the rest. By Christmas time he'll probably be the all-time top scorer in the CL.

That obviously goes both ways.

 Such a good point.

Anyway, viva Ronaldo!

In fairness, Henry was up against players like Zidane, Ronaldinio, Figo etc

I couldn't give a monkeys how many goals Ronaldo has, that doesn't make him a better player. For my money Henry in his prime was playing in a period when the Premiership was littered with top sides and better players throughout Europe. Ronaldinho and Zidane were his direct competition. I've never seen a striker bully Desailly like Henry did, and he should have won the Ballon d'Or in 2004.

Ronaldo was excellent in 2008, Messi was only getting started, and it took Messi being injured for 8 months of the year for him to finally win his second award. He's not competiting against him at all, that's media tripe.

Oh Lawd, Give this guy some fecking medicine please! Now he's trying to claim Henry was better than Zidane

A 33 yr old Zidane made Henry look like a 10 year old when playing alongside him.
