Utter rubbish. He's Real Madrid through and through, United is the team he became sensational at but he only have us about 3 years where he was off the scale sensational. He always knew that as soon as he achieved everything here he would go onto Real Madrid, not interested in becoming a total legend here...Real Madrid was the team he always wanted.

He was a Benfica fan and I don't think he'd have any problems going Barcelona but that wasn't an option. He indicated as much at one point. He watched the Spanish league growing up, no major shocks there. If we had sunshine lol he'd probably still be at United. Either way, it could be a crazy few years with players moving about the place. You never know. Ronaldo has a big ego and a big mouth. I don't think Hernandez would be there if he was picking the team and I don't think they'd have sold Di Maria. So it's only natural he's probably questioning the direction the clubs going in after being so successful last season. Are they a better team? Probably not.

Don't like him.

To be a United legend, you have to see the club as the pinnacle of football. Instead, he sees Real as the pinnacle of the game. Not to mention the fact that he agitated for a move to get there. If he comes back to Manchester I might change my mind, but as things stand I hope he fails at everything football related.

One more who doesn't like him, that's four of us in a row, yay.

Yep, I liked him when he played for us because he was good but he was still abit of a cock. Don't really like him atall now to be honest. Much prefer it when Messi wins the big individual prizes.

If he signed back I wouldn't complain though.

 The ship's sailed on that mate

I like him in interviews as he seems well spoken and always has nice things to say about the club and SAF. He's still a cock on the pitch though.

I like him, but don't want him to come back, just wanted to loan him before we played Burnley to bloody score a goal!

Oh, I sort of like the flashy bastard. Never did manage to dislike him, to put it like that.

But he's no United legend if that term is to have any meaning.

i love ronnie, i think he does some thing on the pitch that makes him less lovable, but as a player, he is the kind of footballer i turn the telly on, no matter what team he is playing for

Best United player ever! Every time he got the ball, everyone got off their seats, he was and still is absolutely out of this world in footballing terms.

He was so pivotal in winning 3 back to back premier league titles and reaching 2 CL finals and a Semi-Final within the space of 3 years

Jeez, we were good back then..........

I love him more than all of you put together.

He will always be in our hearts

In my opinion he is a United legend. His time may have been relatively brief (although so was Cantona's who most would consider a legend) but he did so much at the club winning a vast array of league medals and the CL. He also won the Balon D'or for us, how often is it we can say we have genuinely had the best player in the world in our team? He will probably go down as one of the top 10 players of all time.

Yes he left and moved on but he has always come across well in interviews about United and Ferguson. Club legend in my eyes

You're entitled to your opinion. But...let's do a RAWK analogy...let's see...comparing Ronaldo to Cantona is like comparing a really pretty girlfriend to...Cantona.

There is no comparison. The one is nothing compared to the other in terms of being a club legend.

Still, these "who is a legend and who is not" debates are a bit tiresome. If you consider Ronaldo a United legend, then fair enough. He was a great player for us. To me, though, he isn't fit to pick up sardines in the wake of Cantona if we're talking legendary status. He's less legendary than John O' Shea for my money.

The thing that in my opinion makes him a legend is that im sure in 40 years time I will be telling my grandchildren about when Ronaldo played for United. Again its all opinion however

I know what you mean - and yes, I'll be telling anyone unlucky enough to meet me as an old drunk about seeing him play too. I remember seeing him live for the first time and...yes, he had THAT, which very few footballers have. And seeing something like THAT in the flesh, before THAT became the brand everyone knows today, is something I truly cherish.

Different thing from Cantona, though. Cantona is a United player - doesn't matter how long he was here. He is undoubtedly a United player. Ronaldo isn't. Sadly, I add.

Talksport today were saying that this is definitely ON... As early as January! About 3.45pm ish...

However, they talk 99% shite :-(

I don't agree with that. I think what you see in Ronaldo is a player that epitomised the era of fergie and United. Uncompromising, ruthless, entertaining and a pure winner. He has his flaws but you can never say he doesn't give it his all.

Ronaldo is the best player this club has ever had. The standard of football is the best it's ever been, and he's just phenomenal. If he came back we'd win the league. The sheer amount of goals he adds to the team.

The World Player of the Year left Old Trafford in 2009 for Spain, but has refused to rule out ever going back to Old Trafford, where he made his name as one of the game's greatest stars.

And Breen-Turner claims Ronaldo's frustration with Madrid's transfer policy this summer - the Champions League winners let Angel di Maria join United for a British record transfer fee and Xabi Alonso move to Bayern Munich - could lead to the 29-year-old rejoining his old side next summer.

"He [Ronaldo] gave an interview with a journalist in Madrid and he said, 'If I was handling the transfers, I probably wouldn’t have done things the way they have been done.' That’s upset everybody, including the president," he told Hawksbee and Jacobs.

"Florentino Perez is said to be furious at these comments and we’re just waiting now to see what happens."

The Portuguese star was reportedly unhappy with the club looking to sell Mesut Ozil last season before the German joined Arsenal, and Breen-Turner explained the 29-year-old visited Perez back then to express his unhappiness and has done similarly this time regarding Di Maria's transfer.

"Ronaldo went along before and saw the president and said, ‘Look we need Ozil, he’s a good guy and he’s an important player’ and then when he heard Di Maria was potentially on his way, Ronaldo took the captain, [Sergio] Ramos along with him for a bit of support.

"But the same thing has happened again, the player left. So Ronaldo is absolutely furious and Xabi Alonso going to Bayern Munich is another disappointment for him.

"Ronaldo is not happy at the moment. The other thing that’s happened today is he’s praised Manchester United and said it’s a top, top signing to take [Radamel] Falcao to Old Trafford.

"Everything he’s saying, everything he’s doing, is surely teeing it up for a return to Manchester United at the end of the season."

Ronaldo isn't the epitome of Fergie's United for me. He's an excellent example of a Fergie type signing - but he isn't anything beyond that when we're talking LEGENDS. In terms of who actually made us what we are (...er, what we were, at least) Cantona is a far more crucial player.

In my opinion, of course. But as I've said, this can be discussed 'till the sardines come home. Nobody can prove that Ronaldo isn't a "United legend". It's not a scientific term.

maybe he was, maybe he wasnt, i rate cantona more, and i didnt watch Best and Charlton. buy of course is a matter of opinion

buy i think that to say that he is not a Manchester United legend is being ungrateful to a player that won everything worth winning with us while being desisevely to make those achievements

he has gone almost four years now and we are still talking about him, still watching him, still wondering how good could we be if he was back with us

In my opinion he is a legend. Probably the best player United has ever had (many will disagree) and he was basically the main reason that we came back to dominate the Premier League and Europe between 2006-2009. Basically one of the best periods in the history of this club. Yeah he was being a little bitch in his last year and wanted to leave , but Rooney is apparently a "United Legend" on the official website and he has held us to ransom and wanted to feck off twice before we gave him a ridiculous contract

He didn't grow up round Manchester, you can't go on like he was a local lad who defected. He's always gone on about his love for the fans and SAF in particular. Any Ronnie hate is unjustified IMO. Any foreign lad would love to play for Real, it's a no brainer, Madrid is beautiful, Manchester is.......
well it's a bit nicer than Liverpool anyway.

What's with all this "best United player ever" stuff? Ronaldo's been one of the best, but George Best for one was better.

From what I've seen Ronaldo is a much better player than Best was, then again I've seen Ronaldo live and never seen Best in the flesh. But imo Ronaldo's feats throughout his career are superior to Best's as well and he's not even close to being finished yet.

When people look at names like Maradona/Pele/Platini/Cruyff/Di Stefano - You know immortalised legends, not cult like legends, it's always shitty they've not played for United.

We've had possible 1 global legend in George Best, but when Ronaldo retires he will go down as one of those greats and i'm just glad he's played for United when people look at his name 50 years from now.

He was exciting and fantastic to watch when he played for us but he angled the move to Real on more than one occasion, that shouldn't be forgotten. I would rather we focused on Januzaj and ensure he fulfills his potential, than spend another £50-60m bringing Ronaldo back.
