Cristiano Ronaldo

As huge a statement as it would be, signing a 28-year-old winger for that amount of money is also a huge risk. Sure, I was one of those who aired similar sentiments over RVP last year, but you're getting two seasons maximum of the real Ronaldo and, presumably, another year of an average central midfield.

That's wrong on so many levels. I don't know where you get the two years from - but let's roll with that. With him, our chances of winning the league are exponentially improved. That could intern see moyes off to the best possible start.....It would also bring in £££

No one saw Giggs as a central midfielder and no one saw him playing until he was 40. I doubt Ronaldo will peak at 30 and suddenly not be an exceptional player.

Can someone please explain the OP? There isn't even a shitty source. Someone put a bunch of text together against a black background with what looks like an incomplete picture and it's news?

Basically, United We Stand is a fanzine that is run by Andy Mitten (sports journo and author of several MUFC books). They have a forum that is subscription only and they allegedly have mild ITK status. The passage is apparently taken from there, although this is unverified.

I have no idea of the validity of their ITK status, although I do seem to remember them implying that Pogba was definitely going to sign a new contract towards the end of next season which obviously never happened.

It's news, be it complete crap, that still excites fans. Given the stoney silence from Old Trafford while transfers seem to be in place for many top clubs around Europe, I think all we can do is to speculate.

I'm concerned that even without a major tournament (Kagawa, Chicharito, DDG(?) at Confederations), that Moyes has to familiarise himself with the players and conduct transfer business AND deal with the pre-season tour.

The latter is not a good environment to bed in players tactically.

It'd be nice to get at least ONE signing in in the next couple of weeks. Clearly we have no idea what is going on at the moment - is Moyes on holiday???

de Gea will be at the Euro under 21s along with Zaha

My personal opinion, nike will play a big part of any deal invovling ronaldo coming to united.

You know the juiciest bit of muppetry will come out at about 8pm tonight. Just in time for the caf going down for 12 hours.

I reckon Ronaldo's agent is linking him to us to scare PSG into giving him the 3 or 400, 000 grand after tax weekly salary that he hopes to get...it's his last chance to sign a mega deal....I just can't see him coming to us....if he came back then I'd eat my hat!

O god my heart will fail someday.

Even at a monumental €400k after tax figure he'd be getting paid around £17m per year. Say he signs a 5 year deal he's looking at £85m total.

If he just waited 2 seasons he could probably get the transfer fee in addition to this kind of salary (losing probably £15m in wages for the next 2 years, but gaining probably a £60-70m sign on bonus).

If it was all about the money he'll just let his contract run out.

Even if we don't end up bringing him back, I'm slightly content that Madrid and their fans will have to experience the uncertainty we did a few years back when the situation was reversed. They always seem to get their own way and are often extremely arrogant about their business as well as regularly disregarding the rules.

Well I guess Mou's latest comments put a rest to the speculation that Ronnie could join him at Chelsea. So that leaves PSG and us I guess?

Jose Mourinho: my relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo broke down because thought he knew everything

Mourinho said: "He (Ronaldo) had three fantastic seasons with me, I don't know if they were the best in his career because he had great seasons at Manchester United too.
"I think for him we found a perfect tactical situation to help express himself as a goalscorer.
"But I had a unique problem with him. When I tried to critique him from a tactical point of view, attempting to improve him as a player, he did not respond well, perhaps because he thinks he knows it all and that the coach cannot help him become any better."

This just essentially boils down to Bayerns system being better than Mourinhos, nothing at all to do with the players. I think from your pov Ronaldo was unable to win poty from the very start, because he had the wrong manager. Because you can't blame Ronaldo for executing his managers plan to a tee and scoring so many goals.
Still sure about that?

Yeah, it doesn't say he didnt do what the manager asked, it says he didn't respond well to criticism.

I see you didn't refer to any examples of Ronaldo not executing his managers game plan...

In fact, if anything those quotes from Mourinho actually back up the notion that Ronaldo played the way he did for Madrid this year because thats what Mourinho suggested, 'the perfect tactical solution to express himself as a goalscorer'.

Just curious, I won't get into a extensive Ronaldo discussion again.
