I honestly don't think he'd ever move to City.

If Ronaldo is available, we should do whatever it takes to bring him here. However i think it's all bullshit and he'll stay at Madrid.

It'd be pretty hilarious if he went to City and scored a hat-trick at Old Trafford. Redcafe goes into meltdown.

RVP coming to Emirates and scoring a hat-trick would be even more hilarious than that ;)

There are many things that would be Alastair and "hilarious" is not one of them.

One more point regarding Ronaldo that if he really wanted a move away, he wouldn't have said it three days after the transfer window closes. Still think he's clamoring for a new contract.

That's the way I remembered it too. He was a whiny little bitch that whole season.

He was our top scorer but he was in horrible touch. There were some good performances like the Arsenal semi but nothing like the previous two seasons. His head was clearly already in Madrid.

Not to mention the woeful UCL final where he pretty much tried to win the thing by himself by shooting on sight.

Such bollocks. After Ferguson made clear he was going nowhere he shut up and got on with his football. Yes he wasn't as prolific or as deadly as the previous two seasons but that was due in no small part to teams doubling up or even tripling up on him when playing. United also generally played with a lot more conservatism than the previous two seasons.

To say he was in horrible touch is rubbish, his finishing steadily improved and he was banging in set-pieces all season. He provided 6 assists only 1 behind Rooney while scoring 26 goals in all competitions. Not bad considering he missed the first couple of months of the season.

As for the Champions League Final well...he pretty much got us to the final full stop being our clear match-winning talent. And as for shooting on sight how do you know he wasn't instructed to do this by the coaching staff? They clearly told him to attack Pique's perceived lack of acceleration, perhaps they felt Valdes could be caught out by Cristiano's thunderous shooting? It's just a lazy generalisation by yourself.

I'm a Ronaldo fan, but I think he will be open to a move to City.
I don't think he will ever move back to United even if we (the club) want to. I can't see him accepting a pay cut.

He's not coming here. Although I don't understand why we have to pay 80 Million if we get him. Surely, as he has aged, the fee should be lesser? Somewhere at 50 to 60 Million maybe, and we'll only attempt to sign him if he has an year on his contract.

All this is hypothetical. I'd be worried if he decides to go City or Chelsea.

He's aged but has had great seasons since his move there, scoring plenty of goals: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/22774/cristiano-dos-santos-aveiro-ronaldo?cc=5739

If he were to be sold (and that is a big if as the timing looks like he is wanting a new contract and if not then depending on what he is unhappy about, it could be sorted in the next few months before the next transfer window opens), Real Madrid would want a lot of money for him. With FFP, the clubs that could afford him wouldn't be in the best of positions to buy him as it'd pretty much ensure that they couldn't play in the CL unless they sell a few of their best players and in that case it wouldn't really be worth the sacrifice.

I'd love it if he left Madrid, wherever he would go. I'd like to see a change in the status quo. A bit bored of this Madrid/Ronaldo - Barcelona/Messi duality.

That said, I highly doubt he'll leave. He's Madrid most valuable asset and this will be solved with a pay rise. If the problem was with Mourinho they're quicker get rid of the manager.

It's what 5 months till the Christmas window almost a full year till it'd be worth it for most clubs to sign him (he'd be cup tied for CL) with 3 years left on his contract.

Seems more like contract wrangling, than anything else, he's depressed now, well see how that is closer to the next transfer window.

He left United for the more glamourous Real Madrid, and now he's leaving Real for the even more glamourous ......... Manchester City or Chelsea??

No chance.

So what's this i hear about him being sad on some professional matter?

I don't think he'll be moving anywhere for 3-4 years now. I doubt he'll come back here, or in the PL, before he has aged very much.

Players don't usually throw public tantrums over pay issues - I'd say Ronaldo is seriously unhappy with his treatment at Real. But he locked himself in with that six year contract, so it's unlikely he'll be leaving any time soon. Not until the next transfer window, at any rate. :D

Cristiano Ronaldo alerts Man City after admitting sadness at Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo is considering a sensational exit from Real Madrid because he is unhappy at the Bernabeu, with Manchester City ready to pounce for the star.

The Portuguese superstar, who scored 46 goals last season as Madrid won La Liga, revealed over the weekend he is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu and is now said to be seeking an exit.

It is understood Ronaldo has had several rows with staff behind-the-scenes, and they held a meeting on Saturday evening to try to clear the air - but it did little to ease tensions.

The 27-year-old met with Madrid president Florentino Perez, director Jose Angel Sanchez and his agent Jorge Mendes, where he reportedly told the club he wants out unless a resolution can be found quickly.

Ronaldo followed it up by scoring two goals in Real's 3-0 win over Granada less than 24 hours later, but he spoke afterwards to admit his frustration at the current circumstances after refusing to celebrate either goal.

'I'm sad - when I don't celebrate goals it's because I'm not happy,' Ronaldo revealed.

'It's a professional thing. Real Madrid know why I'm not happy.'

The former Manchester United ace refused to explain further, but divisions within the squad and the club's failure to reward his super season last term with a new contract are thought to be the main issues.

That has prompted mass speculation over Ronaldo's future, with suggestions in Spain that Manchester City's Abu Dhabi owners have already asked to be kept informed of developments, and are preparing a bid to lure him back to the Premier League.

The transfer, should it happen, would easily be the biggest in world football, eclipsing the previous record when Ronaldo moved to Madrid in 2009 for a whopping £80m.

Ronaldo currently has three years left on his Madrid contract.

And so a season long saga may be starting.

If his word is to be believed, he'd never play for them. I'd lose all respect for him if he did.

If he really wanted to go he'd have kicked up a fuss in the transfer window.

He wants a new deal and more money.

Any Portugese caftards out there, give him a united top at the next press conference during the internationals.

He wants more money or RM to pay the difference when his taxes when up to 43%. He sees Ibra, Dogba and Etoo making more money than him and I guess been rich is not enough for him he wants to be richer so when he dies he will take the money with him to the grave, I think. Just marry Paris Hilton and one day he will be a billionaire.

I can't see how we could afford him. Although Ferguson keeps saying that the Glazer's will allow him to spend what ever he asks for. Buying back Ronaldo would be a good test of whether that true or not.

I would take him back in a minute, he's the best player I have ever seen at the club and I have been supporting United for almost 50 years. He can even bring Mourinho with him.

I think spanish contracts are negotiated net and the club picks up the tax bill.

Ronaldo's deal was done under the old tax system so i don't think that is it.

btw we could afford ronaldo if we moved rooney for 40 million.

60 million+ the 40 million we got from rooney for the transfer fee.

200k saved from moving rooney with an additional 100k-150k for ronnie...we could do it.

Apparently yesterday was his dad's death anniversary, so he asked the club for a minute's silence at the Bernabeu and they refused.

If it's true, they are quite correct to refuse.

Anyhow, it's nice timing, a day or two after the transfer window is closed. This will all be forgotten by the time the next one opens.

Sounds likely. Understandable that the club wouldn't want to set a precedent where the death of every player's mom or dad was marked by a minutes silence. That would get old very quickly. Ronnie probably believes he's due special treatment though. :smirk:

Feel sorry for him about the minute's silence thing, but it was silly of him to ask, really.

This is a BS report. His father has been dead for a long time. This is not the reason. This sound more like money issue.

Whatever the reasons behind this story, its good to see the Madrid fans bricking it for a change.
