Of course they don't want to sell him it's a pipe dream by some who can't get over the fact that he isn't our player anymore.

Not to mention that the sums being tossed around in the media like 40-60 mio. were absolutely laughable.

What happens if he doesn't sign a new contract and threatens to run down his current one? (as it's rumoured he's already threatened to do)

Surely Madrid would rather take 50/60 mill next season compared to feck all the season after?

Maybe not as laughable as you think.

That's about the only scenario I can see it happen but afaik his contract runs till 2015, so there is more than enough time for Real to negotiate a new deal.

Ronaldo will not do that. He's just doing a Rooney there.. Once those extra millions are in the bank, he'll sign the new contract, and he'll be happy again.

Yeah, but this is the scenario most people have in mind when they speculate about Ronaldo returning.

Personally, I think it's unlikely that he would return, however if the rumours about him wanting out are true, then he won't sign a new contract and Madrid will be forced to sell at a cut price. You just never know in football.

Certainly, the man looks very uncomfortable anytime he's asked about his happiness at Madrid, compared with nothing but praise for United and SAF.
Who knows, maybe he's done what he wanted to do, play for Madrid and maybe now he thinks it's time to return to the club that made him, the manager who is 'like a father figure' and the fans who he has 'always shared a special relationship with'.

If he feels he's been mistreated by the club, the staff, fellow players and the fans, maybe it's time for him move on.

If he's for sale, we'll be in with a shout of getting him, should we be interested.

I think you should give him more credit. He didn't move to Madrid for the money, in the first place and he turned down virtually a blank cheque from City. (apparently)

Exactly, he didn't move there because of the money, he moved there because Real Madrid is the love of his life. His dream is to play there and achieve records there, which is why he's not going anywhere.

Also, he is not "leaving" now for the money.. He's just negotiating (together with his agent)..

Yeah idk I'm still not buying the return of the lost son story who wants to come home because the reality couldn't hold up to his dream.

Of course I can see that Ronaldo would like to play in the PL again where he would be top dog again and not always have little Messi held in front of him as the better player.

Non the less I think it's mainly about the money and if Real isn't half stupid they will meet his price.

Of course I wouldn't be sad if I was wrong and he would return this or next summer.

Madrid is hardly the 'love of his life' feckin' hell, calm down man. He said it was his dream to play for Madrid. He's done it now. He doesn't feel respected by the club, doesn't get along with his team mates and the fans are/were making a cnut out of him.

He's publicly said he's not happy there and unless things improve, drastically, then i can see him leaving. If he leaves Manchester United is a very probable destination.

That is the only point I'm making. People are being ridiculed in this thread for saying as much, I'm just trying to show, logically, why it isn't so preposterous.

May be Vato has a better view than me in this, but I don't really believe that he's treated that badly by Real Madrid.. Besides, if Ronaldo care that much about those things he wouldn't have left United.

The fans were booing him at points this season. Also there is no way he could have known that's how it would turn out, when he decided to leave United.

Only Messi could replace Ronaldo. Madrid would have to have rocks in their head to sell him. They can kiss goodbye to any chance of winning the league for the next 5 years if they do.

I often wonder do players lose out financially in terms of sponsorship when they join a sugar daddy club instead of a club with history. I wonder would the likes of Y. Toure get more lucrative sponsorship deals at the likes of United,Barca,Real compared to the likes of City.

12 months ago I would have said this story is complete nonsense, now I don't know it's not impossible. I just have a feeling that we are going to spend money on a big player this summer be it either Bale or Ronaldo and with the latter only having 2 years on his contract and after refusing to sign a new deal I feel it could be done.

The key will be if Madrid finish completely trophy-less this season. Surely he'll have to review the situation and wonder if they really have a chance. On a personal level, he's a goal machine he must love that, but not winning the main trophies puts him second to the likes of Messi regardless of personal stats.

He's won one of each domestic trophy with Madrid, hardly a success story for a club which has invested somewhere in the region of £300m + since '09.

I don't like to speculate but it'd be naive to rule out Ronaldo leaving them after a largely uninspiring career in regards to success. Champions League semis aside, in terms of trophies won, they've matched City for the last 4 years. Groundbreaking.

edit: Actually, another Copa del Rey might seal his future there...providing Sergio Ramos doesn't drop it under the bus.

I want to be journalist. Just insert "a United source said" with some random quotes supporting your story and it gets printed.

That said, common Fergie get your 'warchest' out and bring Ronnie home!

Sounds too good to be true. Of course.

Then again. What may - possibly - have changed in the last few months is Fergie's mind regarding the lad: If he now positively wants to sign him (even at a very high price) that could change the game completely. Mourinho leaves, Ronaldo himself wants away, Fergie wants his prodigy back...I don't know, stranger things have certainly happened.

Many things may change in Madrid come summer. If Mourinho leaves (which doesn't look unlikely) the new man in charge may prefer a rejigging of the whole team. He may not like the idea of having a disgruntled Ronaldo around: Better to sell him for a grotesque amount and reinvest the money. Who knows? IF Real are actually willing to let Ronaldo go I'd say we're in with a fair chance. If we can scrape together the money, that is.

Oh no Balague is jumping on the band wagon and says he has "big news" on Ronaldos future.

As for people saying Madrid won't sell. In the new era of FFP and Ronaldo only having two years left, it's the last chance they will get to sell him for £60 mil +

29 next year and a year left on his contract, plus next season is a the start of a new monitoring period of FFP (where losses clubs can make is reduced even more) I'm not even sure Ronaldo would even fetch £60 million then.

Balague presents what is merely his opinion, as fact or inside knowledge. It's quite annoying.

Be prepared for the possibility that Ronaldo (was he, in fact, named after Ronald Reagan, or is it some right-wing fantasy?) will come back to United this summer.

The logic of it all is actually pretty had to ignore.

I can't believe that after Schneider and all the others, this summer's endless transfer-muppet fenzy is giong to be about, of all people, Cristiano Ronaldo.

That will be hard to top, I predict over 400 pages!

Jaysus, no way would he comeback. His ego doesn't need to. He won everything already here. He wants ballon D'or again, at the moment Spain is the league for that.

Would you rather Ronaldo returned, or Bale be purchased? Bearing in mind, the difference in age.

Ronaldo by far. Bale is a very good player, don't get me Wong, but he isn't and won't ever be even close to Ronaldo. And don't forget that bales hardly been a winger this year, and when he was in the first half of the season, he did feck all. Ronaldo on the other hand is still a winger for the most part.

Would you rather Ronaldo returned, or Bale be purchased? Bearing in mind, the difference in age.

Ronaldo. I rate Bale a lot but I don't see it as anywhere near the guarantee that others do in regards to him coming here and replicating his Tottenham form.

Only Messi could replace Ronaldo. Madrid would have to have rocks in their head to sell him. They can kiss goodbye to any chance of winning the league for the next 5 years if they do.

They'd probably just buy out the whole Dortmund team and feck about with the league if Ronaldo went. :( Ronaldo out, Lewandovski up top, Reus behind him, Gundogan to phase out Khedira, Ozil and Di Maria on the left and right respectively...

The Portuguese fella has a fancier name, so I am going with him.

Seriously, I don't think that it is even close. Ronaldo every day, and twice for the weekend (when he will have to play most of the games). In fact, I would be glad even if this means the end of Rooney at United. With Ronaldo back, I think that next 3 EPL will be ours, and as long as we strengthen our midfield, we will be one of the top teams in Europe.

But I don't think that we should pay more than 50-60m for him, considering his age.

I would walk to Madrid and carrying him back on my shoulders if it meant him coming home.
