This.

There is a better chance of Manchester getting Aubameyeng AND Dembele. It ain't going to happen.

There are
1. Too many legal question marks
2. Too big a rift between José and Ronaldo
3. Too big a rift between Real Madrid and Manchester United
4. Too big a gap between the quality of footballers on Real Madrid and those on Manchester United.
5. The Premier League would be physically tougher than the Spanish league on a week by week basis

This, again, is just EVERYONE deciding to ride the MUFC popularity coattails by bringing up ridiculous scenarios that will garner the most twitter gossip or sell the most newspaper rags.

"Hey, MUFC is the most popular football club in the world... let's include them in everything we type up"

You might be right about 2-5 (although I disagree), but no 1 means nothing.

The club doesn't have the time for this. They've still only signed a player that may only end up being a backup to a Rojo/Bailly partnership. Whose our starting forward? Are we getting Perisic? Whose Carrick's long term holding mid replacement?

I hate the media.

Yeah, I reckon he'd be terrible in the Premier League, wouldn't be able to cope.

That didn't stop him from tearing the PL apart before. Why would it be a problem now, when he's physically stronger?

I'm not saying he couldn't do it. Ibra did.

I'm saying he's not dumb enough to WANT to do it again. Seriously. What's the advantage for HIM? Sir Alex ain't here anymore and he's already making GOD $$$.

My point was, he doesn't need the increased challenge of competing on a less talent MUFC when he's got the opportunity to three peat on his current team.

Manolo Lama, the match speaker in Cope said that this is simply a question of money.
Cristiano earns 23net and now Messi will renew for 30 and probably the club will pay him the fine.
Cristiano thinks that Madrid can find a way to pay him the fine even without a new contract or stop the process in the court.
Since Madrid/Cris share the image rights a solution could be a variation in the % that he receives.
Cristiano needs love sometimes but the corruption/tax evasion in Spain is out of control and people is more sensitive these days.
Yesterday,an argentinian (I think) journalist, very close to the player said that Cristiano is waiting for public support from the president.

Yes. This is all about Ronaldo's perception, real or imagined, that Madrid is treating him worse than Barca treats Messi. His ultra competitive streak is the real culprit for this latest flare up.

With the way Ronaldo's brain works you never know if he'll actually go through with the threat to leave. He has practically everything at Madrid. Yet if Florentino tells him to do one, he could throw the baby out with the bath water.

Why is Sir Alex not being here a relevant point for you? He's worked with many managers in Real Madrid and had his best goal scoring season in his career under Jose Mourinho.

He joined Madrid when they were a worse team than United.

If Ronaldo is doing all this for more money and because he wants his tax bill paying off, then frankly he's a disgrace and you're welcome to him.

If he loved the club so much why would he leave in his prime to go to another club ?
If he loved the club so much why would he compare himself to a slave and push for a move out of the club less than a couple of months after winning the champions league ?
If don't think he loves the club that much just maybe SAF.

He grew up with him and his family watching Spanish football. So from that POV, he was consistent. We always knew that. After the World Cup with Rooney, he tried to swan off and after we won the CL. He left in his 'prime' but he joined at 18. Let's not forget that and we (If memory serves) were happy for him to stay at sporting for a year but he wanted to come right away. In fact, he turned down Spanish clubs and others to come to England. The 'slave' comments with Madrid's Sepp and all that - was a disgrace and ever since he's joined he's been 'not as silly'. He accused our management once of not supporting him just like he's done at Madrid though he's aiming that at the club. But the bug bear was the weather. If the weather was better? He might have stayed or put off a move but I think it's like the grass isn't always greener. He payed attention to know that we never booed him. Not when he was sulking. Not after the Rooney incident in the world cup. He's talked of playing on into his 40's and when you think of that you think of United. He could easily stay at Madrid, but I don't think if he moved that he would think that he was any less a player then if he were 28. So how we we be offended? We were fortunate to have him for 6 years. If we got him for another 6? He might not hit the same heights but there is no one I would back more. Look at my tag under my name. I knew he'd win us a Champions League (even if he missed a pen in the final..), who is to say the next2/3 won't be worth it? And the good thing is IF he did resign - he would put the people above a little thing like the weather....or not :)

It's a delicate situation, a public show of support, beyond what the club already gave, will invariably rub a lot of people wrong due to the nature of his crime. Paying the fine for him is out of the question for me. At best we might pay a small part of it, but even that would be kind of hard to stomach. I think if he didn't feck off to the confederations cup, something could have been arranged, like a public statement by him explaining his reasons with Flo standing right next to him

As it stands, he's a tax evasor who's trying to coerce his employer into paying for his mistake, and also to try and put pressure on the justice system to ensure an acceptable sentence

I don't think you can expect a spanish person to accept that, regardless of his madridismo

Different players have different motivations.

Some would prefer to collect easy money in weaker leagues, while some would rather take on a more challenging path.

Ronaldo, being the competitive egomaniac that he is, would be all up to step up his game in a tougher challenge.

No, it's to ensure that the most talked about football story this Summer isn't about him not paying 14 million euros in taxes.
Christ. I feel like the Grinch, logic goes out of the window on here when Ronaldo is mentioned.

?

You call that Logic? :wenger:

You realise that this tax thing is only starting and it's much likely to get worse before it gets better. Why would Ronaldo deflect the attention to a transfer saga which mentions his tax case at every turn. What shite logic.

Yeah, public support in a situation like this is would lead to a lot of bad press. I can actually see Real calling his bluff this time tbh, it's your last chance to sell him off for a huge fee and with the wages he'd free up, you can go crazy over 3-4 top players.

Now you want to come back? ha? No thanks, stay where you are, you had your time, and you run away to RM. God knows what happened, that he wants out, if he wants out. Whatever it is, it is your dream club, suck it up and stay there.

Why us everone saying this??? Manchester is not his home, never was, never will be, we were just stepping stone to RM.

How the feck do you know that trophies will roll in? You have crystall ball? Can I have lottery numbers? You think he will score 50+ goals in PL? Riiight. Everybody is behaving like he will save us, and what if he turn out to be worst then Rooney?

No, we are not, we were for a while, then he ditched us for other family, now he has some problems, and wants to ditch that family too.

Why? Because I don't want him here now? Because I did not join "get him back" club.

Do you rate Ronaldo? Do you think he'd be our best player by a country mile? I do. I think he'd be our best player with a patch over his eye, a wooden leg, parrot on the shoulder and knee length swash buckling hair!

It's all a decoy and judging by people on this place, it's working. Di Marzio is only reporting what Mendes has told him and wants him to report, remember that.

People have forgotten about his tax dodging pretty quickly, wonder why.
..

Whatcha talking about? His 'tax dealings' are all over EVERY newspaper in the whole of Europe this morning, because of this story. Every football journalist is writing that Ronaldo wants out because Real aren't supporting him over his charges of Tax evasion. If Ronaldo didn't want people talking about his tax affairs, then leaking news that he wants to leave Real over those tax affairs is a pretty stupid way to go about it.

If people want to make up their own conspiracies, at least make sure they make sense.

I assume he's just trying to make Madrid pay his tax bill?

In all likelihood.

Although I don't believe it's a planned scheme. Merely just some form of misunderstanding and a juicy story for the media to spin.

The result will most likely be what you suggest. If not the entire tax bill, perhaps a part of it. Some type of mutual agreement between Ronaldo and Real/Madrid… the end.

I don't buy these journalists coming out with the real reasons etc etc. The sources at the club would be shit due to the fact if Ronaldo let them know whats happening then whats the point?
I believe the fed up of Spain version, the angle that broke the story until something concrete materialises. A lot of this overthinking seems to come from "Why would he leave the CL champions?" rather than any actual journalism.

F*ck him if he's coming back dressed as Robbie Savage.

Even the flat earth thread makes more sense

That's the first post of this ilk in this thread. Loads of naive people who genuine believe this will happens and can't see how cynical it all is.

We thank you for your voice of reason.

Brilliant

Spend the money on Quaresma instead. He's clearly a better prospect.

He hasn't used anyone. There's no concrete evidence he's leaving Madrid yet.

Exactly. He uses the speculation about his move to United to force Madid to pay his taxes or help in some manner.

If the money being spoken about (£130m) to bring Ronaldo back is true, then I'm praying it doesn't happen.

This is a player we sold at the peak of his abilities for £80m, 8 years ago and now at the age of 32 we buy him back for £130m?! Absolute madness and the biggest rip off in history if it happens.

I'd love him back but anything more than £20-30m is just humiliating. Save the money and spend it on the future of the game, the Mbappe's and Dembélé's of this sport.

Weird how Mourinho and Ronaldo have the same agent so we will know first hand if he wants to actually come back.

Hes just about to win his 5th Balon D'or, hes hardly deteriorating.

The transfer market has changed since then and now players like Lukaku and Belotti are valued by their clubs at a hundred million. You have to look at the fees in context.

He's about to win his 5th Balon D'or because he plays for one of the best Madrid teams in the last 20 years. The players around him had helped him win the League and Champions League this season. Plus he has a great coach to work with, in Zidane. Whichever way you look at it, he isn't going to get any better at 32, if anything he will get rapidly worse.

Yeah you're right mate. It had nothing to do with them having the best player in the world. They would have won these Champions leagues without him....

£20-£30 million :lol::lol::lol::lol: fecking hell.

Mane cost just over 30m. He is 25, lighting up the premiership and has another 9 years in him. I think people are assuming Ronaldo is going to come back, score a tonne of goals and play for another 6 years. It's not going to happen. Zidane has had to manage Ronaldo's game time to get the best out of him this season. 130m for a player you cant even play most of the time? Crazy

I assume he's just trying to make Madrid pay his tax bill?
It looks like this was mooted by madrid in the last few days.
And in another report, he supposedly told SAF weeks ago he might leave spain.

For me its us or PSG he is going to, based only on the grounds he would play for nobody else in the prem and PSG can afford him. But I'm bettin the tax bill will vanish just like Real's debt and all this will be something they will chuckle about, with a glass of champagne in a few months time.

Would take him in a heartbeat... "Come Home Christy"... But I can't see him leaving Madrid if I am honest

People are deluded. 80m now is about 170m in today's market. The prices have gone up and people need to accept that. 30m is now cheap.

Thinking £20-£30m and anything more is humiliating for Ronnie in this day and age is far more than delusional, it wouldn't even get you Troy fecking Deeney who's nearly 29 :wenger:

Wow, you're beyond repair. Just so you know, your boyfriend did not opt to come to England, it was the other way around. He was surprised SAF told him to stay and surprised he was a sub against Bolton. He thought he would be loaned back.

Again, your boyfriend didn't turn down any Spanish side. They didn't come for him because he wasn't good enough. Quaresma was a better player that same age. He said it himself that Man United was a stepping stool and the end game was Madrid. He said all of this in his book "Moments"

The idea that we are fortunate to have him for 6 years is very offensive to Man United. I've never seen SAF cared more for a player than CR7.

oh for feck sake wise up would ye!!?

Mane is never ever going to be on Ronnies level , if you buy and old classic Porsche or Lamborghini it's still going to cost a fortune because it's a Porsche, you can't compare them to a fecking old Vauxhall no matter how good it was.
