Cristiano Ronaldo | Transfer Speculation

Cristiano hasn't failed to score 40 goals in a season for the last seven years!

Think of all the easy chances we missed last season, our pathetic 18th worst conversion rate, and tell me Ronaldo doesn't fix all the reasons we finished 6th.
Exactly!!!!

Ronaldo in a United shirt again would be like eating out of a bin for 4 years and then getting an all you can eat voucher at Nandos. Bring him home.
Nando's? Seriously? More like being given VIP membership at The Fat Duck.

I'm just imagining the quiet whispering in the corridors and the hushed mumbling around the water cooler at the offices of @Acquire Me's marketing contacts ....

will not happen, sorry to spoil your dreams.

That's the first post of this ilk in this thread. Loads of naive people who genuine believe this will happens and can't see how cynical it all is.

We thank you for your voice of reason.

Fair enough. It's still turning out to be a great smokescreen though, taken right out of the Messi handbook.

Seems like posturing on both sides. If Real are so willing to let him go, United should offer to take him on loan.
It's certainly posturing at the moment. Thing is, Madrid's position's not gonna change. We gave him a new contract in November, we're *not* giving him a new contract now and we're *not* paying his fine. So if he doesn't change his mind, we'll listen to offers

I think people on here are well aware of that the most realistic scenario by far is him staying at Real. But Ronaldo has always been pretty teasing before, with little comments like "only god knows" etc. This is another game entirely. If this is only because of his tax case, then it's the wrong PR move imo, and he would be very unpopular with some of the Real Madrid support on return.

I actually think there is something in this. For him it's a very good moment in his career changing clubs. On the absolute top of his game. I also have the impression that he don't feel as loved as he should be at Real Madrid. Who knows though? It's speculation at this point, but this saga ain't going away in the days to come.

All we can hope for is that our board and Ed Woodward keeps a cold head and don't let chasing Ronaldo for weeks ruin what is a very important transfer window for us.

Bit rich if he wants the club to pay his fine when he's so loaded.

For those saying Ronaldo is genuinely using us, a team he loves, to get a new contract. Why would he do that to us. Couldn't He use PSG or China and get the same effect? I understand Ramos or any other player. But Why would Ronaldo use us to try and get a better contract when China could pay him more than us. Even PSG.

Ronaldo and Jose have the same agent. Is Mendes really that much of a dick to screw over one of his clients in Mou just to appease Ronaldo. If it wasn't genuine I'm sure Mendes would have briefed his own client that look, we are trying to force Madrid to pay up, don't waste your time we can use PSG, who look like they would give Madrid the Eifel Tower to land Ronaldo. I think this has a 40 percent chance of happening but this isn't the express and the Metro. These are the best ITKs and people close to the deal. I honestly don't think this is all a scam to derail our transfer window and get some more pennies out of Madrid. I honestly think he wants to come. If Perez will let him go is another question.

God

Hey, I'll start to actually dream about it. Don't do this to my little weak heart.

I am scouring the internet for him saying "I stay, I stay" in the last 24 hours. You know its on then!!
I'm hanging out the window by my feet in case any planes go past.

It's all a decoy and judging by people on this place, it's working. Di Marzio is only reporting what Mendes has told him and wants him to report, remember that.

People have forgotten about his tax dodging pretty quickly, wonder why...
Very good point.

Ronaldo to United is the most believable. Hopefully he brings Ramos along aswell

It's not about the money.

When Messi was having his tax troubles Barcelona backed him to the hilt. Barcelona pretty much made out that Messi was being targeted by the anti-Catalan Madrid government. We're taking Alex Jones levels of conspiracy theories.

Ronaldo thinks he should be treated every bit as specially as Messi. I'm sure he interprets Madrid's passive support as a sign they don't love him like Barca loves Messi. And if there's anything Ronaldo hates it's being treated like he's less than Messi.

He has been the most accurate of all journalists that get posted here. Only Duncan Castles is more reliable when it comes to United I think, mainly because of his shiny cueball head being firmly placed all the way up Jose's arsehole.

BTW, if we're going really after him, we should finish our other deals quickly ( away from Morata ) so that when he decides to stay we won't be fecked in the market.

Somewhere there's a "Redcafe goes into nuclear meltdown" thread. If anyone knows where it is link it I'd like to get in on the banter.

He's just making empty threats to Madrid to get them to use their clout for his tax problems, and probably because they are lining up his replacement in Mbappe. He just wants to feel some love.

I doubt Madrid will let him go, and I doubt Woody or Jose would sanction the 200M it would cost.

This.

There is a better chance of Manchester getting Aubameyeng AND Dembele. It ain't going to happen.

There are
1. Too many legal question marks
2. Too big a rift between José and Ronaldo
3. Too big a rift between Real Madrid and Manchester United
4. Too big a gap between the quality of footballers on Real Madrid and those on Manchester United.
5. The Premier League would be physically tougher than the Spanish league on a week by week basis (I'm not doubting he would tear it up in the premier league)

This, again, is just EVERYONE deciding to ride the MUFC popularity coattails by bringing up ridiculous scenarios that will garner the most twitter gossip or sell the most newspaper rags.

"Hey, MUFC is the most popular football club in the world... let's include them in everything we type up"

The club doesn't have the time for this. They've still only signed a player that may only end up being a backup to a Rojo/Bailly partnership. Whose our starting forward? Are we getting Perisic? Whose Carrick's long term holding mid replacement?

I hate the media.

Manolo Lama, the match speaker in Cope said that this is simply a question of money.
Cristiano earns 23net and now Messi will renew for 30 and probably the club will pay him the fine.
Cristiano thinks that Madrid can find a way to pay him the fine even without a new contract or stop the process in the court.
Since Madrid/Cris share the image rights a solution could be a variation in the % that he receives.
Cristiano needs love sometimes but the corruption/tax evasion in Spain is out of control and people is more sensitive these days.
Yesterday,an argentinian (I think) journalist, very close to the player said that Cristiano is waiting for public support from the president.

Ronaldo coming back to United is the most believable scenario if he decides to leave. Everybody knows that Ronaldo won't just feck off to PSG let alone China when he can still play in his prime.

Regarding Mendes, can we really know for sure what's going on behind the scenes? Do we know for sure that Mourinho isn't on this? As far as we know, Mourinho might have been briefed by Mendes that this is just a plot to land Ronaldo a better contract.

The point is it's all rumors and speculation at this point. But then again, when so much smoke is building up there's must be a fire somewhere.

If he loved the club so much why would he leave in his prime to go to another club ?
If he loved the club so much why would he compare himself to a slave and push for a move out of the club less than a couple of months after winning the champions league ?
If don't think he loves the club that much just maybe SAF.

Barcelona did not pay Messi's fine for him. And real madrid claiming conspiracy would be even more pathetic than barcelona doing it. The club has publicly backed him, Florentino Perez even managed to keep all this quiet for months in the media(remember, this isn't new. The news first broke last fall, and he's been under investigation since. Yet other than the initial reports, nobody has said anything about it until now. Compare with Messi, who's case was faaar more public and talked about)

Ultimately, i'm more and more convinced this is all a ploy on his part to try and get the club to pay for him. The dressing room certainly believes so.

And it's simply not going to work. We let go of Alfredo Di Stefano, and that was a technical decision even. Cristiano Ronaldo can either change his mind, publicly distance himself from all this mess, and stay, or he can find a club willing to give us close to €200M and leave

That didn't stop him from tearing the PL apart before. Why would it be a problem now, when he's physically stronger?
