Shaw is not crap, He will fullfill his potential. Too quick to pass judgements, at one time Even valancia was bad as a defender and did not deliver proper crosses.
I'd go one step further and say that Shaw at the start of last season, before his leg break, was even better than Valencia was this season. Though, his level dropped a fair bit this season, I think he should definitely be given another shot. Not really sure what any of this has to do with Ronaldo though.

Play on same side, so over lapping him.

So basically Ronaldo wants to shift his dirty laundry onto Real Madrid to protect his own image and reputation. Well at least we know that Ronaldo doesn't care about Madrid either, only himself. Real Madrid would be shortsighted and silly to do it imo, as they damage their reputation in the process and allow Ronaldo to be bigger than the club. With everything he's given them, he's already paid his due. If I was in Madrid's position I would tell him to pay it himself or get fecked, and that has nothing to do with wanting him here at United either.

Not at all, you just need to understand what i wrote.

Right now, i have no opinion in that regard. I'm waiting to see what happens and to learn more about Cristiano's reasons
I was joking emotional milkshake :p

No. He can't really force a move. Hes 32 and has a 4 year contract with an outrageous release clause.

It's one year before a major international tournament and Messi is still just as good as him so a threat to refuse to play is likely betrayed by his ego.

My apologies, I meant that question from RM's perspective. I mean, you say Ronaldo & then RM. it should be RM then Ronaldo. I mean look at the last CL win. It was all Ronaldo. Not many were mentioning the great feat of RM. it was all about how many CL's Ronaldo has got. How many goals he's got etc etc.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Real are angling to sell him as he is becoming bigger than them.

Yeah that's different in Scotland where I live.

Would the Spanish Government be entitled to exercise that, though? It still raises the question whether Spain can pursue him in his absence, however, I feel.

Presumably they'd then have to instruct someone in England to enforce the order.

Extradition, although often quite difficult, can be granted but this is different to prosecuting criminal offences which occur in other countries.

Cross-purposes, perhaps.

Thinking if through, if someone has committed a crime (or is alleged to have) he can be tried in his absence or an arrest warrant can be issued.

It's all moot really since I suspect he won't run away from it. He'll likely cut a deal like the rest off them have.

Sorry I made the mistake of thinking you knew what you were going on about.

Pardon?

I'm not, nor do I profess to be a tax expert but anyone can pay any contractual or tax liability for someone else. What stops them doing it? There's no legal provision preventing it that I'm aware of.

He didn't say Shaw was crap full stop, he said our fullbacks are relatively poor in an attacking sense, which obviously includes Shaw who's not been close to a consistent crosser, never scored a league goal or has been able to provide width on left as Valencia has been doing consistently on the right (Outside of a 5-6 game spell in... 3 years.)

We also don't play a high press game and do not push both our fullbacks up, we play a low intensity game with one fullback high for width with the left side coming from a touchline wideman and not an overlapping fullback. Edit. So that guys team on the previous page would be totally lopsided despite looking very nice on paper.

I remember picking up the papers and seeing he'd signed. Clearly disappointed that Becks had left but very excited about this lad. Then watched this Bolton game and he lit up the place.
I was 10, and remember reading the papers at my grandads and thinking we signed the Brazilian Ronaldo and was gutted it was just a kid, loved him after that debut though haha

Just heard on radio..from Marca? 200 ml euros plus De Gea for both Cristiano and Morata. Hard to believe
DDG in this market is worth £70m minimum, so that doesnt make sense. He's worth around the same as what Real are valuing Morata, so Ronaldo's worth 200m eur in that deal. I would believe it if it was 200m eur in total (including DDG, i.e. 120m cash + DDG) for both.

We'd need to get them to back away from the Milan keeper as well if we were to lose DDG (they wouldn't need him anyway in that scenario) then that would be doable - obviously that's utter shite, but still I don't want to feel left-out in this thread

Can't really tell if that's a good or a bad deal tbh

I would sign that with both hands.

Ronaldo and Morata in exchange for DDG and £200m

Complete that and it also means Real isn't getting Donnarumma. Milan will do anything to not see him end up for free at Juve and with our good relationship with Raiola, I could actually see us being able to get Donnarumma for around £40m now that it is certain he won't renew.

If we could wrap up Perisic for £45m aswell, it could be the best summer ever for us. Obviously very expensive summer in the neighbourhood of £320m but we will have signed:
  • Morata
  • Ronaldo
  • Lindelof
  • Donnarumma
  • Perisic
Obviously we will need to balance that a bit by selling a couple of players and scrapping Rooney and Zlatan of the wage list. But we can afford it.

------------------Donnarumma-------------------------
Valencia--------Bailly-----Lindelof------------Shaw
----------------Herrera----Pogba--------------------
Mkhitaryan-----------Ronaldo---------------Perisic
-------------------------Morata----------------------

Next summer focus on improving that midfield and fullbacks

That would be a team that could set us on course to win some major trophies in the next years

Obviously not likley to happen but one can dream

1. This won't happen; Ronnie is staying in Madrid - virtually as certain as certainties get
2. In the parallel universe in which Ronaldo moves to United - why would the club splurge on a LW (the position that CR7 nominally starts in) and not on a DM - which the team needs?
3. Why would the team shift from a 4-3-3 (system that CR7 and Pogba both prefer) and move to a 4-2-3-1 to accommodate Perisic (of all people) and that too in Ronaldo's preferred position?
4. Why would CR7 play as a 10, when that's the position he's least suited for?

For me the deal is terrible. You are effectively paying £250m for Morata and Ronaldo, and Real get our best player, and can fund 2-3 huge transfers with the cash (like Mbappe, Dembele, Verrati level), whilst we're left with two players who may not even want to be here, and an ageing Ronaldo.

Because that is how Mourinho wanted it in my muppet dream

That team would get destroyed and ethered through the middle. Way too attacking. But it is nice to dream what Ronaldo in a United side would look like again.

Whats the point in signing a ageing Ronaldo, and putting all the finances on him.It will be a bad deal from Utd point of view.

Because an ageing Ronaldo its still better than 99% of the players in the world plus merchandising alone we would get a good portion of the money back and guarantee a legit shot to win the EPL and ECL

Whoever Madrid buy will not be as good as him, he single handedly got Madrid through the most important matches in the CL against big teams.

Can we keep the debate over whether signing him is worth it, to the 'Would you want Ronaldo back?' thread? Otherwise this is just going to continue growing with no news of substance, which does seem the most likely outcome.

You dream destroyer.

We still have our secret weapon to close the midfield when needed : Fellaini.

Aging Ronaldo is the current Ballon D'Or winner and will win it again this year.

I have a feeling even if we get a chance to sign Messi some will complain about him not suited for us.
