Cristiano Ronaldo : The Juventus Chapter | Fin

To channel Roy Keane, I don't find sprinting particularly impressive. You're an attacker, its your job.

The assist however, was a touch of class.
I usually find those counter attack move with very fast sprint covering very long distance of the pitch which end up with a goal being very impressive. Remember back then when we used to score those amazing counter attack goals with Rooney and Ronaldo doing that, absolutely joy to watch. Its fine if you don't appreciate this type of counter attack move though, not everyone appreciate the same thing. But usually Man Utd fans living through those period would enjoy this type of goals alot.

Messi plays Germany in finals

Ronaldo doesn't.

That's the difference and you can throw your stats at me and what not, but at the end of the day there's only one goat.

Bendtner

After that 80 metre sprint and his goal he then runs in his celebration

The guy is ridiculously fit and will still be going at 40 if he wants to.

You’re being a bit weird in this thread with how much you need to play down the goal, why let it bother you so much.
It's this weird fixation Messi extremists have for Ronaldo. Should just be threadbanned and let him vent in the MvR thread.

I didn't even mention Messi in this thread so I don't know why people need to bring up Messi. However, while we are on to that, it is a guarantee if Messi scored that goal and people were raving like people are about Ronaldo scoring it, the Ronaldo fan boys would be playing it down. That is 100% a given.

The only person playing down this goal is you mate.

Only the GOAT could have this many haters. All the trolls and WUMs posting in this thread just solidify his status as The One.

He reached a 34 km/h top speed, and he was clearly far from going at full pelt. People say he’s slow need to reconsider. Also, the run was brilliant in that he first lured the defenders away from Jota leaving that much space for him, and then aprinted to get into the perfect position for the tap in. A tap in it was, but still a world class one at that!

It wasn’t egregious. Jota was right to make sure. I just think it would probably have floated in. Was curling quite a lot. Outrageous finish if it had gone in off that far post.

Ah I see! Apologies as I didn't understand your point - agreed that it probably would have gone in and would have been an a brilliant goal; that said I think Rudiger was in position to clear it.

Personally though I just remember the Nani incident as being up there with the most egregiously stupid things I've ever seen on a football pitch so that's where my mind went to!

Yeah Nani’s one was nuts. Even if he wasn’t offsider there was clearly no need to play the ball. Jota couldn’t be certain it was going in and there was no risk of offside.

Ronaldo’s so obsessed with scoring he’s probably similarly irritated tonight, mind you!

Reckon you're spot on re: Ronaldo - especially as he approaches the Daei record!

Yeah… but he ran past 3 Portuguese attackers to get it… at 36

Pepe did the same in the first half and he's older.

He also shinned that attempted shot that just about turned into an assist.

Nothing really special at all about him when you think about it......

Spot on

Gets another tap in today. Other than that was rubbish. His free kicks are such an egotistical waste of time. This guy is clearly top 3-4 player of all time, but I don’t enjoy watching him play.

At least I found a player to dislike more than him. Mbappe is my new voodoo doll. A combination of people pace abusing him on Fifa, and his prima Donna, smug attitude. He’s the new Ronaldo.

Who would think a 36 year old scoring for the defending Euro champs would hurt so many grown men?

I really struggle to understand how anyone can blame him for Portugals defeat last night.

His performance wasn't bad, and besides, he did help the team to get another one.

You dont have to say he is top 3-4 of all time if you dont really mean it, btw, just be honest about your position, better that way.

Tap in? Watch the goal back.

He clears a corner in his own box, starts the counter, sprints the entire pitch quicker than any player on the pitch and positions himself exactly where he needs to be to put the ball in the opposition goal.

Why would Ronaldo fan boys play it down? Most people have had enough of the pathetic Ronaldo move the goal post fan boys, I am just bored and pathetic enough to lower myself to question you all. :wenger::lol:
Fan boys? Are you 15? Why don't you bore off to the Messi thread.

tbf if it was Cavani, we'd be raving about his movement and how he took defenders away which created space for Jota and then was in the right position onside bla bla.

781 career goals. Hopefully one day he's able to score one that doesn't need an asterisk next to it to explain why it wasn't as good as people might think.

In all seriousness, he's 36 with the mileage of an 18 year career at the top level, obviously declined from his prime and he's not in contention for being the best player in the world anymore. Some people need to give it a rest, he's a legend at the end of his career. Enjoy watching him while you can because all it takes is one injury at his age and he might not play again

I mean it. Does mean I have to like him.

Yes, we get it, unless you dribble 2-3 players, play a 1-2 and then chip the gk, its not a real goal.

If it doesn't include a diving backheel bicycle kick, does it even count as a goal? Honestly, we should just reset his tally and have him start from zero. None of his goals are good enough in the eyes of The Anointed Righteous Safekeepers of Everything Highly Outstanding, Lovely and Excellent.

:lol::lol: Salty crocodile tears

thankfully he got a goal and assist and was generally their best attacking outlet.

Meanwhile proclaimed “best striker in the world” Harry Kane struggling against the might of Scotland and Croatia

Dont worry, these people clearly ranks him as top 3-4 of all time though.

Just watching the Portugal vs Germany match now. I'm implacably convinced that the other guy is better but how on earth can you dismiss Ronaldo's contribution to that goal? Superb work, from the defensive header (a phase of the game that he gets maligned for) right through to the full pitch sprint to get on the end of the move.

Well least to say its a worlclass movement and a great counter attack sprint which lead to the goal, but people who hates him would blind out all that and sum it up as a "tap in". Its just a norm here with the haters, who can't stand anything he has done on the pitch. Another example is, whoscored rated him the highest in the game with a very high 8.53 rating (motm performance), yet there are people saying he has poor game, just as usual. See the pattern? To them whatever goal he scored is a meh goal, and whatever performance he has put on the game is a poor performance. Its just, a day of their life as haters here.

don't think that has been the case, he first needs to score for his team and when he does and people rave about him it will be totally fine. Then that's not the type of goal Messi usually scores, he's not good at defending set pieces or aerial balls but when an attacker has a good workrate, wins the ball, starts the counter and scores is something people who support that team tend to appreciate a lot. The only weird and pedantic would be to downplay such a goal.

Wish we were proactive enough to sign him back when he left Madrid. Could have easily win us a league title.
