There is no way any club would sanction this move bar a sugar daddy club.

There are other younger, exceptional finishers and cheaper strikers out there who could benefit the club better on a longer term basis.

Aren't you ignoring that it would be the biggest story in world football? Imagine the shirt sales alone – the 'Return of Ronaldo', etc...

We'd be mad not to if we could get him.

feck sakes. The man has just scored 61 goals in a season. How can anyone say no?

If we spend 60m on Di Maria, we could easily spend 120m on a 30 year old Ronaldo.

Just imagine this 61 times next season...

FWIW my tactics would be...

And that team would win the league without any other signings.

FC ronaldo, where's Alves? If no Alves, Rafael before Valencia and that would be a far nicer team :) I always wondered whether Valencia could have done a better job for us centrally. We can't have Valencia at Full back as it will demotivate Cristiano.

Done without further signings @Striker10 - I already went 90% muppet mode for that, didn't need to bring Schweini, Gundogan, Alves etc into the picture.

Yeah but Valencia? I'd had Rafael on crutches before I'd even consider another season of Valencia hitting the first defender

I'd bet we'd win the league with if he sign him and no one else this summer.

Not really. If de Gea leaves this summer he has not helped us to three league titles, a CL and a CWC..

Pretty much this. We've only won 3 CL titles in our history, so a man who helped us to win one of those 3, along with 3 successive PL titles (after we didn't win a PL title for 4 years btw, feck me people have short memory spans) is a club legend in my eyes.

It seems like PSG are sniffing around, I can't see why we wouldn't be interested, if LvG wants a fast, athletic striker who links well, is strong in the air and wants to play their game in the last 30 yards then Ronnie is his man and a far better choice than players like Cavani, Higuain and Benteke.

Indeed they do. It was only two years.

We won the title in 03, Arsenal in 04 and Chelsea in 05 & 06. We won it back in 07.

Thanks for proving my point, everyone forgets how Chelsea had taken over, we hadn't won the title for 4 seasons and winning back in 07 was an epic effort all season.

Doesn't that make it three seasons, not four? Maybe you're calculating it differently to me.

If we didnt win it for 4 years, Chelsea won it twice and Arsenal once, where did the other one go?
Has it been found yet?

We lifted the trophy in 03 and then lifted it in 07, that's 4 years to me. As in we won it in the 4th season after our previous one.

The way it was written made it look like you meant after he left.

Are you trying to tell me that creativity wasn't an issue this season? You can list names all you please but it doesn't change the fact that - as past it as they are - Falcao and van Persie, and Rooney by extension were starved of chances for a majority of the season. Memphis, creative support? He's a lot like Mata in that he is a clinical goal threat that you'd expect on the end of chances and not to be creating them.

TBH all 3 of them also missed very good chances in big games.
Also when Di Maria was in the team, he was creating chances for them, and they we're fluffing their lines.
Creativity was an issue for us when we reverted to having Rooney in midfield, and Falcao (who offered not very much) u top.
I think creativty was an issue for us but also was the quality of finishing.

Ronaldo is a player who would add both, tbh though for the fee I would rather just add another 100m to the price tag and have Woody take the chopper to Barcalona

I don't understand why this thread has received much attention. People don't really think he's coming back right? MLS being his next destination would be my bet.

I doubt he would want to go MLS. I think he would rather stay at the highest level for his career and try to set records impossible to break.

Which is why he'll stay at Madrid. I see no reason for him to come to a work in progress that is United right now.

I personally wouldn't want him. Massive fee, massive wages (110% he would request a new contract 6 months into his time with us) and the ego he has. I just see him and Van Gaal having a massive fall out. Plus he would have arguements and fall outs with some players.

I don't want him now either as it would upset JR10. JR10 ->CR7..

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but out of interest sake if he won us the title for the next two years regardless of his wages and fee would you still not want him? Because I'm 100% sure he would do exactly that whereas we might be 2 years away from a proper title challenge in my opinion.

Why do people still kick up a little bitchfest about all of this? Is this coming out of your pocket money or something? We spent £150 mil on transfer fees, and probably added another £600,000 + a week in wages. Ronaldo's £300k a week adds more value than that £600,000 a week does between 6 players ffs.

Spot on. 61 goals on his own this year vs 62 in the league for us as a whole. His form for the past year has been worth more than van Persie, Falcao and Rooney's wage put together.

Exactly
I think what people are doing is fixating on his age. They are not looking at the player's current ability.
He is at the absolute peak of his powers and any team in the World would be have him in their team.

It's so, so sad that this thread has 17 pages already this transfer window!

Why do it to yourselves? It's utterly pointless - he's about to become Real's all time greatest goal scorer FFS.

"Don't mug yourself, that's all, don't mug yourself".

He'll have his first falling out with Benitez the day they go back for pre-season and FSW utters 'facht', the transfer window has a while to go yet when that happens.
