Id take him back now, at a push maybe next summer.

Anything after that I'd feel a bit meh about it. We'd be throwing out a big fee and huge wages for the slow decline of a football great. I'd rather the money hit big upcoming talents, the likes of depay etc. who can become huge united players for years to come.

Theres a lot of love for ronaldo, he gave us some of the most exciting years at united. A joy to watch. But his ego has skyrocketed whilst at Madrid, and everything seems to be about him. His dramatics really irritate me, and whilst he loved United and vice versa, it would not be the same if he returned.

I also too think he's going to be using us for a long time as a bargaining chip for his wage, until eventually the new prospect hits real and he becomes old news. At which point it seems most people here would jump on the chance to sign him. He's either going to play out his career at madrid, move to USA for big wages, or return to united past the age of 32-33 imo.

7 years by the way since he scored in Moscow and missed that penalty. Time flies.

Made a bad choice going there in the first place only won 1 league title and a CL in those 7 years.

He'd have had won more with us just being a passenger but you know his presence alone would have even seen more silverware come our way.

But yea every players wants to be a monkey in the great Real Madrid cricus, all dumbasses if u ask me ! Barcelona or Bayern in these last 2 years I understand, massive clubs but they aren't a circus like Madrid. They do things like they are supposed to be done in a professional manner, they win stuff because of it but at Madrid, it is just a joke of a club these days. Used to be a different story, they have a great history but last decade or so it has become an absolute farce of a club ! If they keep that up for the next decade they will end up killing their reputation, which is literally the only reason players still salivate over going there. They have more price trophies running around on the pitch acting like primadonnas then they have actual price trophies they won in recent history.

Money no object? You'd be mad not to want him back.

In reality though there are far better ways to spend the 80 odd million it would cost us. Whether we want to take the gamble is another matter. Of the similar fees seen in the Premier League so far, we put his original fee in the piggy bank/Glazer's back pocket whilst Liverpool and Spurs both spunked theirs on rubbish. For all the risks, Ronaldo is 80m of guaranteed world class player.

THE perfect number 9 option for us. We should go all-in for him.

If Marca are right, he's told people at Madrid that he wouldn't want to return to England, because he thinks as he gets older, he physically won't be able to handle the PL.

Yep, but reckon if he goes it will be to PSG... be shocked if he ever came back here. In the meantime, he'll just have to cope with Benitez:D

Not sure how early the Spanish season kicks off but could he even have a chance to score 10 before the window closes and become Real's top scorer... And then ours?

Barcelona professional? The club with a transfer ban you mean? The club with the really dodgy transfer deal for Neymar? That club?

It would be very interesting to see how Ronaldo flare into his 30's. Under normality and judging that he rely his game a lot on pace and physical, perhaps we should expect another 2-3 years of top level performance at most out of him. However his insane level of consistency and output over the years means that we could never judge him under normality, so let's see how far he goes.

Good point.

It's quite inevitable that his pace will decline once he reaches 32+, but how reliant is he really on it? Madrid haven't really played counter attacking football this reason. The one thing he seems to have improved most is his positioning in the box, and that's not going to disappear once he becomes 32.

Put him on a plane..

He has it in his locker to adapt his game accordingly to the set of skills he possesses at a certain point in time.

True, which is why I can easily imagine him being near this level until he's 35.
Perhaps, it's still a bit of a risk because there's a not so tiny a chance that he will get worse once his physical attributes start to deteriorate, the way he's carried himself and looked after himself it won't be before he's 33-34 though. He's in exceptional shape.

Why do people do this to themselves.

It wont happen.

Apparently he might not be the same player he was at 27 when he approaches mid-30s, but then this season they say his all round performance has been deteriorating alot yet he still managed to get 61 goals which is his personal best number ever. My guess is he will still score a lot in his mid-30s but will become more of a poacher, as he proves himself being very good at adapting his game into different approach over the years, from pacy tricky skillful winger who dribbles a lot, to stunning free kickers, great headers, free goal scoring wing forward/great athletics, to great poacher with great off ball movement and positional sense.

I agree but I dont see him coming back to United. :)

Exactly, plus I've seen him beat more defenders with tricks than pure pace but even at that towards the end of the season most his goals came from his flawless positioning where he was just tapping them in.

RVN had a lot of tap ins through flawless positioning and perfect finishing, Ronaldo has both those traits and even at 35-37 probably will still be faster than RVN in his prime

I like the idea of Ronaldo as a 9.

Don't want. Would be too expensive, if it's a choice between him and Bale, I'd take Bale 7 days a week.

Fading force physically, too much drama and ego. Couldn't see him knuckling down under LvG

Some of the petulance we've seen from him this season, like the time he flung a strop when his team mate scored instead of him sticks in the craw.

Don't get me wrong, United legend back in the day, but what's done is done, I see no need to deliver him a last big pay day.

47 goals more than Rooney. 1 short of our league tally on his own.

Too expensive, at that rate he's worth more than our entire front 6.

I'am talking about the club with 7 la liga titles in 11 years and 2 (or 3 ?) CL titles.

I'am not saying they don't do dodgy business but the signings they make atleast result in a team that actually wins trophies. Real Madrid just signs players for the heck of it and fails to build them in a team that can win trophies. Year in year out that happens, that the coach is blamed and fired although most of those coaches have an impeccable track record at other clubs for winning trophies aka Mourinho and now also Ancelotti.

My point is I don't get why a player would want to join Madrid. They are ran like a circus and in terms of trophies they win it is actually been a laughable club if you look at the last decade. A player going to Barca or Bayern (in the last 2 years) I understand because of the success these teams have had. But Real Madrid is really just show and name but literally nothing else ! Ronaldo has made a bad choice going there, could have won way more trophies staying here or joining Barca or Bayern but he went for Real because it is Real and has won 1 league title and 1 CL in all those years. Very poor for a player that can be considered the best or second best (depending on opinion) in the world.

I think it would be PSG if he left. Maybe, just maybe, Bayern?

Don't think he goes backwards.
