The club invested in infrastructures, the club has continuously modernized its approach based on managers wishes, Rangnick was well known and pressing is neither new nor a strange approach and the club has been inconsistent more than stagnating which is a fairly normal thing.

I mean it's not as if Real Madrid weren't stagnating before 2009. Which isn't true, they have been changed a fair bit. Also as @Mainoldo mentioned we need to keep in mind that the AON training complex was new in 2003, it's not an old training camp and any expectations to see a completely different site is misguided because those are supposed to be long term structures.

What he is saying is what everyone has been saying. Most United fans have been saying this, which is the reason for the Glazer out movement.

On the short term you won't get new commercial deals, shirt sales are stable they are not particularly affected by new players regardless of who they are what happens is that the new signings replace current players "sales". Also shirt sales aren't highly lucrative and represent less than Ronaldo's wage. And finally players like Ronaldo lucrativeness is in their ablity to make your team successful, that's where the money is, that's how you get added broadcasting and added cash through prize money.

Also it's extremely important to remember two things, most shirts that people see are fake especially outside of Europe and a large amount of people watch games illegally. Clubs do not get short term revenues from these things.

That said in the first 24h Ronaldo made Juve around 7.5m EUR in direct shirt sales which isn’t exactly insignificant (Independent calculated adidas taking 90%). Monetisation even short term would come mainly from social media and strategic partnerships.

When Ronaldo joined Juve, already a huge club and well known particularly in Europe. Their followers across Twitter, Instagram etc. jumped 62% when he signed - their stock increased 11% in a day. In China alone Juve followers on Weibo rose by nearly 70%. China is an icon market, many fans follow players not clubs (same for South Korea and Son where we used to dominate and now lag way behind Spurs as another example. There are now more Spurs fans in Korea than the U.K.) which is what I think Boehly is very aware of with his whole ‘franchise player’ chat.
