For all the talk and focus on Ronaldo, it seems relatively clear to me that United’s plan was to sell him if we got a decent fee/a buyer (didn’t happen) so just let him ride out the season as backup and accept he’ll throw a tantrum. I don’t think they expected this interview especially after seeing how poor he’s been, I don’t think anyone thought he was this deluded in his abilities to be honest but we are where we are and I think the club have handled this really well. He comes out of this looking weak and surplus to requirements after the club have given him ample opportunities.

I was thinking that, the guy was bragging about being the most followed person on Instagram with 500m followers, so not even 1% of his followers care enough to watch this "most explosive interview EVER!"

I'm assuming loads of that are media related people trying to get a story too.

These footballers think way too much of themselves.

Instagram followers are largely bots and he or the company managing his social media likely purchased a fair share of them.

Edit: The engagement rate of his instagram is 0.93%.

Also, the video has only had 2.2m views. Look, it's 2m more than most of his videos, but if you're going to brag about a stat, at least make sure it's not one which can be fact-checked with a couple of clicks.

Phelan like many of the pundits we see in the game today either on TV or Radio, is wedded to a approach from a bygone era. And they believe that because they were successful in that bygone era, football is still the same without accepting that changes have occurred.

There's a big difference between being a successful footballer and someone who is a successful teacher in a coaching capacity in the present day. And in the present day, we see failed teachers line up the Sky and BT studios, whilst the successful teachers go about implementing a strategy in a coaching capacity at the highest level in the present day.

Yup they are very much my thoughts also.

While there’s absolutely no doubt that Phelan was a key lieutenant to SAF (whatever some people choose to believe) I think it’s pretty clear that he was mainly involved on the admin and HR side. It was thus unfortunate that when the club brought him back he was put into a far more football-focused role. I suppose Woodward’s belief was that some of the SAF magic would have stuck to him, regardless of the role he had been in.

We all know the truth about Glazers, club and stuff.

He's not the person to say anything about the club, he's not an example. He used to be a great player, he's just an average player right now. He has become a moaner, a bad loser.
He wants to leave the club, doesn't respect anyone, thinks he's bigger than anyone, and then expects all the people to bend the knee to him. He's ego and selfishness is exceptional.

The interview is nothing but pure sh*t, with Piers making way for him to look good.

Him thinking football should only be played to suit his style is not wrong?

Him saying "I could have joined City" then saying he loves United fans is not wrong?
 
If he hadnt gone off on Ten Hag, this interview wouldnt have been an issue.

A lot of what he says is absolutely true regarding the club. A lot of it is the voice of someone who is far removed from reality.

He does come off as incredibly thin skinned for someone who claims negativity motivates him.

How? On the short term you won't get new commercial deals, shirt sales are stable they are not particularly affected by new players regardless of who they are what happens is that the new signings replace current players "sales". Also shirt sales aren't highly lucrative and represent less than Ronaldo's wage. And finally players like Ronaldo lucrativeness is in their ablity to make your team successful, that's where the money is, that's how you get added broadcasting and added cash through prize money.

Also it's extremely important to remember two things, most shirts that people see are fake especially outside of Europe and a large amount of people watch games illegally. Clubs do not get short term revenues from these things.

That vid has 2.3M views right now but you're forgetting the restream vid that has 2.7M so 5M total, he's not lying.

The body is like a beautifully sculpted Greek statue (it plays like one these days too) but his face isn't quite right. It has all the correct 'mathematical' symmetry and it should be good-looking but it really lacks character and soul. I don't think it's the plastic surgery either, I think he's always had that kind of look.

I can't believe i'm now onto to aesthetics :lol:
 
So assuming after the 2nd part of the interview tonight, will the club act before he plays in the world cup?

Be great if ETH doesn't have to deal with this in December when players return. He can focus on rest of season without this gobshite around the building.
 
To be honest this is only a good thing in my opinion.

He has shone a light on the Glazers and also ensured that he'll never play for us again.

Definitely not watching the interview though.
