And yet in the 2 seasons after Ronaldo Madrid got knocked out by ajax, then city, who themselves got knocked out by lyon. They were hardly flying, 8 semi finals in a row, 4 in the last 5 won, and then 2 last 16 exits then they spent hundreds of millions
Nowhere near world beaters. That Juventus team had reached 2 UCL finals in 4 years and finding themseleves knocked out by teams rhey were expected to beat 3 years in a row was pretty dissappointing.

The same way that PSG had reached a semi final and final the 2 years before Messi joined and then two last 16 exits (one of which had him missing a penalty) means that he made them worse? Or is it not as simple as just team doesn't get as far, must be the new signings fault?
