Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Sell him to Chelsea and see how quickly they implode. My guess would be he would wear out their welcome mat by Feb.
Given how well he did for us once we were down to one game a week, I really think he’d still be great if that was how much he was playing. Unless he’s suddenly recognised that himself though, he’ll still expect (and demand) to play every minute, which as you say will be incredibly damaging.

The manager who was an absolute genius at getting the best out of old or crocked players through careful rotation was of course SAF…

This is pretty funny. So many people on this forum making it sound like Ronaldo has been some problem player all his career. Feck off. He’s a pro’s pro.

Things didn’t go as planned. Literally no one expected last season to go as badly as it did, it was the most positive most of us have been about United in a literal decade.

He wants to end his career playing in the CL. Fairplay. I hope he still stays and if he doesn’t, I hope this is resolved rather quickly and the club can move on. Either way, the hate this man has gotten since he’s come back has been nothing but shocking.

He has so few options -- its Mendes who must have told him he has dozens of choices. Hope he goes to one of our rivals and kisses their badge -- it will then show the sort of person he actually is.
Why do you hope that? Is your hate for Ronaldo greater than your love for United? Don’t answer that actually its pretty obvious what the answer is.

He will be paid -- its a family problem. We cant dock someone's salary for that, all £450k or more.

I imagine Arnold's scrambling to get him for the Tour -- the local sponsors would have paid a premium to United to have him visit and shake some hands.
True .....but sounds like he is going to have to be muzzled in the process.

Most of us has been firmly behind him and supporting him. Even though some people have been negative, that’s just a small but vocal group.

The issue now is obviously the timing. If he said after the season he would want to leave because CL football is to important at the closing stages of his career, then fine. I think most would respect that. Doing it a day before joining up at preseason and not showing up, that’s not professional at all.

It is you that can feck off with stupid shit like that.

Firstly United is always bigger than any one player. Hoe he goes to our rivals so that he can feck them over just like he did at Juve when he decided that the club didn't match his ambitions.

He has a tendency to cause disharmony where ever he goes. Its always either his way or the highway so the team has to play to his strength. Why do you think he was the top scorer and everyone else seems to have forgotten to score -- when the previous season we scored for fun? How many 4-0 results did we have -- more than any time since Fergie.

Managers are subjugated to him -- he is brought there because the chairman or owner thinks he brings with him great commercial success. And the manager's role to figure a way to fit him in. Look how many managers he has under in each of the clubs he has been since he last left United? Then read of the comments his former team-mates like at Juve said about him after he left? Most were quite happy that he left.

The whole no CL or not matching my ambitions crap is just an excuse. Rooney told Fergie that United/Fergie wasn't matching his ambitions too and flirted with Chelsea.

Yeah we were blessed with his presence, hope he left some holy water in the dressing room.
We wouldn't have made it to the CL knockouts and would be lower in the league without.

Anyone that ignores that is just a Glazer sympathizer who is okay with supporting mediocrity and getting Ronaldo's hefty paycheck off the books along with the expectations of being a title challenger.

You really are a Ted Lasso when it comes to understanding football.

Hello, I'm a Glazer sympathiser who is okay with supporting mediocrity and getting Ronaldo's hefty paycheck of the books.

Anyone who comes up with these logic is a "Ronaldo rectum dweller, also probably owns dildo with Ronaldo pic on that"

Oh wait, it's easy to come up with posts like this.

He didn't make his intentions clear. A lot of players have rumblings. You can't form your transfer plans based on minor stuff. He's communicate his desire to leave far too late.

He made his intentions clear when he said he’s looking forward to work with Ten Hag and the whole works. I’m not saying the fact that we aren’t in the Champions League next season isn’t a factor, but clearly something else is at play.

Actually, no. You're just a misinformed poster who has jumped into a back and forth without knowing any of the context.

If I had to brand you as anything, it would be a trigger happy bully jumping onto the coattails of a site admin who also completely misunderstood a post and reacted with a unnecessarily condescending post @roonster09

But like I said as a newbie not long ago, this site is a mix of good people with etiquette being outvoiced by general nastiness.

Would be very helpful if he had stated he wanted to go after the season ended. Now it might be to late for us to make this right. Well, we just have to see how this plays out.

Or the American perspective calling out non yanks for falling for the American owner's tricks for over a decade.

If I even take away my emotions about the Glazers, I blame the league. They allowed the cnuts to do an LBO on United. There must have been some loophole in the league rules that somehow allowed them to do it. I think to a smaller degree the Gillett/Hick scam artists did the same thing.
We don't seem to have LBOs anymore.

Then there is the tight purse strings issue -- my problem with the Glazers there isn't how little they spend -- they wasted £1.2billion in the last 10 years trusting some uber-cnut called Edward Woodward. The predicament that we are in is because of his lack of knowledge of the game and how to run an organisation. He wanted to consolidate power like a Fergie operationally but at the board level. As a result we have or hopefully had an joke of a dysfunctional scouting/transfer department.
His remit was to ensure that United was financially successful. And when you pitch that, it would be music to any owners ears.

The Glazers problem was that they trusted the fool too much. Not so much defending the Glazers but if we are to assign blame on people, we need to be logical and credible about it otherwise we will come across like a bunch of hysterical old biddies.

He knew back in March. Anyway, its just an excuse. I bet Mendes got a nice chunk of change for bringing him over to United from Juve and will again this next round.

But IMO its penny wise pound foolish. Ronnie would have lost a lot of United supporters' goodwill after this. Bile like after taste.

And unlike Becks who is still beloved by most United fans, he knew how to manage his image post-United.

Less of playing victim card please, if your reply is "If you don't accept my post, you are Glazer sympathizer" then don't expect any other replies.

Also please spare us from all the "Ronaldo blessed us, we are so luck to have him" posts, we are not talking about 2009 here, it's 2022 or 2021 when he joined us and he was way past his peak.

Exactly. It's a bit over the top to pretend like this is out of the blue. We were lucky to be in a position to have him join us thanks to the 2nd place finish with Ole and having Champions League. Considering how that season planned out it's really no big surprise. Disappointed yes
Yeah we were blessed with his presence, hope he left some holy water in the dressing room.

Just rereading this to make sure I'm not missing something. And nope. @roonster09
What a absolutely turd of a reply neither bothering to understand or asking to clarify.

So do me a favor. Go on and just delete my account or permanently ban it or whatever. It's a win win: you get another ego trip and I get a forced respite from the trying to share discourse with folks I thought found common ground on being united fans but are actually a lot of just angry self adulating jerk offs

WTF are you talking about, I'm not admin and I don't know why you think mods or admins are on ego trip and ban posters randomly. This is one of the most loosely moderated site, where posters are given multiples chances before getting banned.

I don't know why you are so triggered when my post was just a sarcastic one. It was especially for this part " We were lucky to be in a position to have him join us thanks to the 2nd place finish with Ole and having Champions League "

Your words. I said he joined us only because we were in the champions league.

That's it. You added the additional color and ridiculous sentiment. Read back to the post I replied to.

And wtf are you gaslighting. You're being an awful human being. There's no victim playing. Next time I'm in Manchester for a United match I'll DM you. Come visit me and we can grab a pint and hug it out. But just shut this keyboard big man show off. Its not for me.

#MeToo

And I’m not a Ronaldo hater in the slightest; I wish him all the best, though I do think his insistence on playing every minute will make him a burden to his new club. His fanboys are something else though

Yes, I am triggered. I don't like my words or intentions twisted. And least of all to have that become the source of ridicule.

If you have forthright opinions and you are not afraid to voice it out, and it happens to be a shit opinion, unfortunately you will be ridiculed and your words picked apart. I take no pleasure in announcing this to you, it's just the truth

Insinuating Ronaldo only joined because we had Champions League football is hardly a wild opinion.

Everything after is a rush of blood.

What does that even mean? We're the equivalent of a charity case at the moment. Ronaldo has maybe two years left at the top and wants to cement his legacy at the greatest footballer of all time. Why would he stay with us when he can realistically win another CL and confirm that? Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions, but that's why he's an out and out winner.

He can't catch Messi. He desperately wants to close the balón dor lead and the golden boot lead and he knows he has no chance of doing that and that the window is closing, but that doesn't make him throwing a strop and refusing to turn up to training any less unprofessional.

Nobody is taking offence to your post claiming that Ronaldo only joined us because we qualified for champions league. We finished second and we qualified for CL. What is lucky about that and why should we feel lucky that Ronaldo joined us?

Club pays Ronaldo a lot of money for his services, and fully expect him to honor the contract that he signed just last year. Why is this not out of the blue for you? We missed out on CL qualifications for a full 3 months and not a jot about Ronaldo wanting to leave.. he wants to leave now one week prior to pre season matches just on the eve of him returning to the club and it's not out of the blue for you?

You are being ridiculed for not only having a bad opinion but calling anyone with a contrary opinion as self adulating jerks, small time bully, Glazer stooge yada yada while at the same time throwing shades at mods and admins of being arrogant.

Tbf, some of the mods and admins in this forum are douches for sure but none of them were to you.

Get good money and sell him to highest bidder and invest wisely. No hard feelings towards him. It is time for a fresh start. The team or Ronaldo shouldnt hold each other down. Dont want the cavani sutuation again.
