Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Mendes has tons of clients, including Bernado. No way it's for Ronaldo at Barca bit would love it

People say they're sick of the De Jong saga, I'm already a million times more sick of this one. It needs dealing with as soon as possible, it's a hell of a lot more damaging than a potential signing dragging on a bit.

He hasn’t gone effectively on strike and let everyone know he’ll join Chelsea to still be here next season. He has the most powerful agent in football and he will get him a move.

You'd think so - definitely.

Mendes is hardly a mug.

And - which is the point here - it shouldn't be that hard if they've found someone willing to take Ronnie.

From United's perspective it's a no-brainer behind the scenes. The possible cosmetic blemish of losing Ronaldo (because we're shit, because we're not up to his standards, whatever the narrative should turn out to be) means feck all and should mean feck all to Arnold/the owners if they have any sense.

Defended Ronaldo a lot this season, and he's been one of the few players that actually turned up. But this is shocking on his behalf. I don't blame him for wanting to leave but he should've asked 1-2months ago.

Like 2009 all over again, sod off.

For goodness sake. Would you grow up. You're acting like a petulant child.

My time on the Caf is completely irrelevant and the fact you've brought it up twice now shows your immaturity and your inability to converse to an adult level.
You seem to think caf membership gives you some sort of superiority. Guess what. It doesn't

The general feeling around Ronaldo signing wasn't of 'pure delight'. It was mixed. Many fans haven't forgotten or forgiven how he left the club in 09 or how he has treated the club since.
If you want to get a true feeling of the club go to the occasional game. I can assure you. 95% of the fans there weren't exactly buzzing that he was back.

The only ones I saw delighted at his signing were the ones outside the Megastore feeding the Glazers pockets by buying a replica top.

I'll say this again. The Caf is not the voice for Manchester United fans.
Brilliant post. Last line actually explains itself. A set of 50 armchair experts think they know everything and they are the voice of United fans.

Hasn’t Ronaldo in the past been pretty quick to take to Instagram to deny bogus rumors? If this whole thing is nonsense he could surely just say something, no?

Think it’s safe to say it’s not rumours at this point haha.

There are no indications that this is in any way false

None of these reasons resonate with me. For instance, if he were to go to Chelsea, he would still be 38 and the "his presence is disruptive" myth would be dispelled if a top CL team were to buy him.

Shaw could've just said Ronnie wants CL football, full stop, and left it at that.
I can kind of see his point.
In comparison. The season before Ronaldo joined we scored roughly 20 more goals than we did last season.
Personally, I think that was simply down to building the team around Ronaldo, or at least playing to his strengths.

I don't think he's a disruptive figure, but I can imagine he is an intimidating one, both in the dressing room and on the pitch.
Throwing his hands in the air every time a player made mistake or stroping around the pitch because things aren't going his way can be very off-putting, especially given the weak mentality our players seem to have.

There is also the added pressure and worldwide attention Ronaldo brings to a team. I don't think our players could handle it and froze under the added expectation that comes with Ronaldo. That it itself is a major worry for ten Hag.

True - but I might add that even on here it certainly wasn't the case that 95% (or whatever) were uncritically delighted with Ronaldo's return.

I'll take myself as an example: I got drunk and celebrated, after a fashion, when he was announced - because it was a crazy moment and worth a drink or two.

I also tried to be positive about him in the weeks and months that followed his return.

But I never actually wanted him to come back - and was pretty vocal about this before it happened.

And my feeling (I can't back this up with statistics) is that I'm a pretty typical Caf member in this regard.

If you did a poll on here before he signed, there's no chance in hell more than - max - 60% would have welcomed him back with zero reservations. Probably less.

The only realistic thing is that everyone knows that Barcelona is going to sign Lewandowski.

things can change quickly in football…they get ronaldo for a lot cheaper fee and who knows the impact that has on lewa’s thinking. Ronny was moving but not to us until the final days apparently. I’d absolutely love us to swap one for the other and lewa is probably more suited to our new manager…

We basically cost Ronaldo a Premier League win at 37 by not letting him join City last season.

Can't criticise him at all for wanting to move on now to try and get a trophy.

Same situation will unfold like at Juventus, better cutting losses now and getting someone else in rather than waiting until the end of the window for it to happen and be short up front.

can understand his viewpoint but he shouldn’t have came out saying he’s staying at the end of the season when deep down he knew he wouldn’t. Using the excuse that the team isnt strengthening enough is exactly just that, an excuse.

It also sends out the wrong message to potential transfers that the club isnt good enough.

"not letting him"

He had a free choice to join whoever he wanted. He chose United

Lewa is not leaving Bayern for us, that is a pipedream. We need to take a gamble, there's nothing sure on the market atm.

Get rid of this circus

lot's of messages here that he deserves to be in CL - but he should have said he wanted to leave as soon as the season was over. Walking circus, walking tantrum

Enough with having players in the team who have big egos, there's the door, good luck

Think your reply to DSG or whomever is mostly fair and he/she is being ridiculous. But I do have contention with the bold. It's a bit condescending much like what you were unhappy with dealing with yourself. Especially considering the pubs outside the stadium have had fans singing Ronaldo's name all season long before matches and then chanting the same throughout the game. And those are definitely not Glazer fans because they usually sing about chopping them up right after...

It's mixed sentiment all over. And all of the opinions about Ronaldo are ok - he's done enough to be beloved and likewise enough to piss some of us off. Neither opinion should reflect the quality of fandom of the club. That's just unfair.

It's fascinating how absolved of blame one can get over an action he himself initiated.

He signed the contract for a team who'd been in the gutter for 8 years - even spending three or four of those years in Europa League.

Has he no telly or internet? A blind mountaineer in Pakistan would know by now, how shit we are. Ronaldo would've known too - we'd just lost the EL final ffs.

If he really wanted to win the PL he should've and could've gone to City - everybody could see, that that was where the title would end up - especially with him in the team. He chose the bigger paycheck - which is fair, but don't come here and talk about US costing him the PL. He chose money over it.

Truth. SAF and Ole guilted him into coming here.

Embarrassing from the club.

Trying to spin this and make Ronaldo appear as the villain.

Shame on Ronaldo for being more ambitious than the rest of the squad?

Our confirmed signings is a back up LB and a free transfer.

If I was in Ronaldo's shoes I would leave too.

Premier League trophies from 19 years old to 37 year old would have cemented his place ahead of Messi. These are the things that make him tick.

Whether it makes you laugh or not.

What?

If this isn't satire, then the cult really is losing its mind.

Wouldn't put it past him to be leaking Barca rumours in the hope of Madrid coming in for him, to prevent their legend signing for a rival.

Sounds familiar...

I guess we're going to have to roll Fergie out for this one again?

One more year Cristiano. Then we let you go anywhere you want. Deja Vu.
God I hope we don’t. He basically begged him to not join City in the first place, I hope he tells the Cnut to feck off and we get rid of him asap

We finished 2nd and signed Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo.

Stop pretending as though there weren't millions of fans that thought we could have an outside challenge for the league.

That was 14 years ago and pressing from the front is a necessity for the modern day head coach who aims to play in the opponent's half.

Pretty sure we were pressing from the front in 2008. Unless you think Rooney, Tevez etc also had pressing stats the same as Ronaldo?
