The GOAT as a bench player, like to see how that plays out.
You should read the full article then, it doesn’t really paint Ronaldo in a positive light. As much as I agree that Maguire is a problem and should not be a captain - it's quotes like that from Ronaldo that will sway a lot of fans to "he was right all the time". I guess they, Ronaldos entourage, could slip a lot of populistic quotes from Ronaldo which he "did" during last season to show that he really "cares" for the club.
British tabloids and media is such a shitty establishment in that regard.

Seeing as he is likely staying, might not be that explosive nowSounds like someone’s been talking about the Ronaldo stuff. Probably getting our side of things in before Ronaldo drops his big interview.

We've dropped him for two games so there's no reason to think he will be crowbared inThis is going to come back to bite us. Our team firing improbable balls to Ronaldo all match long is going to be infuriating.
Martial being out and Elanga being crap will mean Ronaldo will start quarter of the matches I feel. We've dropped him for two games so there's no reason to think he will be crowbared in
Elanga started the last two and that was before Antony came in.Martial being out and Elanga being crap will mean Ronaldo will start quarter of the matches I feel.
But times are changing.None of the best Premier League teams for the last 10 years have had a "big bustling CF".
NO.Like who? Chris Wood?
Not bad.Memphis is all about buildup play. He holds the ball pretty well
Difference here Antony was desperate to join us. Ronaldo is the opposite.
Absolutely clearly it has nothing to do with the fact his agent has spent around a month trying to get a deal for him to be at a CL club unsuccessfully it must just be he now suddenly is 100% top red.
It’s posts like this that make me worry for the fan base.
Could give him another chance, yes.Memphis isn’t the long term answer but that’s not true at all - he’s very good at linking everything up and is a very different player than when he was here. He’s not a top top level striker but he’d offer more than 37 year old Ronaldo.
We might be able to loan someone out for a season. If we could get a younger Cavani it would be nice.He is if the question is what 28 year old former Manchester United player could we conceivably sign as a forward option for very little money to tide us over for a season or 2 until a younger player presents them self as a long term forward option?
Might need a bit of work but
Doesn’t seem to be a market for a washed up 38 year old, who doesn’t offer much play wise and will need north of £350k a week. Surprise indeed!Surprise!
He doesn't have any offers. What exactly is ETH supposed to say at this point of time ? CR7 isn't good enough and I will be benching him ?This is going to come back to bite us. Our team firing improbable balls to Ronaldo all match long is going to be infuriating.

Let’s be honest - it was a vanity signing by Ed Woodward. One of the most incompetent and out of depth individuals the football landscape has seen. But apparently there was one 12 months ago in which a big club was willing to pay nearly 500k a week for such a player. City were also snooping around. Sometimes its best to just let it go and get behind the player.

Also, I’m not sure there was any real City interest.
He has probably requested to not play in Europa League games
What Fergie and Rio want is irrelevant, and if you read reports, even Ole was averse to him. Again, it’s a vanity signing by the idiotic Woodward. It was widely wanted by most at the time, including much of the fan base who were very happy to see him back. Everyone from Fergie to Rio to Ole to the players and fans were excited at his return. There comes a point where continuing to criticize him has a toxic knock on effect to the club, which is why its best to move and enjoy what will probably be a very good year for us.
Well, hopefully this lack of interest from other clubs will have motivated him or brought some reality to his life.
Couldn't agree more here and trying to view everything through a Ronaldo lens, even though the same people would tell us "no ones bigger than the club". Just move forward and enjoy having him in the squad. It was widely wanted by most at the time, including much of the fan base who were very happy to see him back. Also, I sincerely doubt my comments on this forum will have a toxic knock on effect to the club. Just as your blind faith in Ronaldo will have a positive knock on effect. We’re not that important.
There isn't anything differently anyone can do/say in this situation other than Ronaldo taking a paycut. I just don't think it will be healthy for the team.He doesn't have any offers. What exactly is ETH supposed to say at this point of time ? CR7 isn't good enough and I will be benching him ?
I highly doubt it. Two minnows in there who he can score a bunch against and get his season goal tally upHe has probably requested to not play in Europa League games
And I’d be inclined to agree with that initial perspective but also that’s not really what I was arguing against more the comparison between the two players. I am a United fan so I have little issue with players desperately wanting to join us.Well I'm coming from the perspective that I think the majority of players at the club currently and basically at most top/big clubs aren't there because of their burning passion to be there but because it's the best fit for them at the time. In the same way when a club decides they're done with a player they do what they can to offload them whether that player is keen for it or not. If you're only willing to accept players who want United above anyone else then we're gonna have a hard time getting players hence why we seem to have to be pay more wages than most.
Clearly I'd rather have players who were keen to be here as well but I also think Ronaldo is a bit of an exception in that he is so driven by his own individual metrics that I think if he does stay here I'm confident he won't down tools (he didn't last year when things were bad) and can contribute better than any replacement we're likely to get could. That said if behind the scenes he's really alienated people to the point where him being here is detrimental then I would have no issues with us getting rid.
Any suggestions for this mythical loanee? We might be able to loan someone out for a season. If we could get a younger Cavani it would be nice.
You don't get sharp by sitting on the bench.Ronaldo may be playing 4D chess here.
Piss off everyone so he gets benched, and then he can conserve his energy for the World Cup.
He loves Portugal far more than any club he's ever played for. And this is probably his last WC, so he'd want to be as sharp as possible for it.
Or does he love the idea of winning the one thing Leo never hasRonaldo may be playing 4D chess here.
