Well one could easily argue 80m + 50m (salary) could go a long way (?) on stadium improvements rather than on ‘Arry fecking Maguire.
While Rangnick probably did the right thing in saying it was inappropriate I wish he had taken the opposite stance and listened.
Football clubs are not run like other sustainable businesses are... and most owners do inject some of their own money for transfers actually, not sure where you've understood that from. Where do you think Chelsea's war-chest has come from all these years? or City's? or Newcastles? PSG? Everton? Hell even Forest are splashing their owners cash.
Its a minority of clubs that only invest the clubs money in transfers - Liverpool being the best example. If you want to have a different argument about the benefits vs negatives of that, fine. but that isn't the discussion, instead of removing money in the form of dividends, the Glazers could have re-invested the money in to any other aspect of the business - transfers/stadium/training facilites. instead, they take the money and let other facilities go under invested.
Ten Hag has basically gone that direction thankfully and we're looking to be on the better track for it

The bit were it's said he wanted Cavani as his strike partner, bring to mind the one time they started together at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium we beat Spurs 1-3, both had a very good understanding, Cavani's hold up play and link up play click with Ronaldo's movement in that game, don't know why we didn't use both of them together more.

He wanted Cavani because he presses and works hard which are two things Ronaldo isn't interested in. They didn't play together more because Cavavni decided he would be on holiday for most of last season.
Probably needed an extra body further back to compensate for slabs.
Especially his two Portuguese teammates, there's very little chance Dalot would be getting the ball to Bruno like in the last game if Ronaldo is also in the box.
bruno is wasteful enough on the ball without chucking him constantly firing blanks to ronaldo.

I have huge respect already for ten Hag basically saying Maguire stays Captain but that doesn’t guarantee play time.
It gives Maguire a chance to sink or swim, shuts up the dissenters by creating a meritocracy and also means that when someone like Bruno steps up the reaction isn’t “Ronaldo got Maguire demoted” it becomes “ten Hag gave Bruno a chance and he took it whereas Maguire didn’t”.
It appears to be the fairest and best way to negotiate what could be a very contentious dressing room issue.
I literally just acknowledged he did the right thing? I’m just saying I wish he had done different because Maguire is the worst captain and one of the worst players we’ve ever had.
This is the sad truth, I think. Our midfield wasn't strong enough to accommodate two forwards plus Bruno.
Our best defensive performances of the last year or so have come with Maguire out of the team. So he was right, as inappropriate as it was.
With Antony in I think Ronaldo can be really useful. Antony is a good crosser and Ronaldo is by far the best header the game has ever seen. He can be real deadly if he stops being an absolute cnut and gets on with it. Unless you think we can rely on Martial? And Rashford playing up top is legit like playing with one man down.
Well it’s up for the manager to decide that. Maguire is no where near one of the worst players. It just seems Ronaldo wanted 2 strikers to suit him and dictate everything.

Hyperbolic given that when we were set up as a counter and deeper block side he was outstanding and a huge part of solidifying our back line.

As much as I agree that Maguire is a problem and should not be a captain - it's quotes like that from Ronaldo that will sway a lot of fans to "he was right all the time". I guess they, Ronaldos entourage, could slip a lot of populistic quotes from Ronaldo which he "did" during last season to show that he really "cares" for the club.
