Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

In other words no one wants him so he’s happy to stay and collect £500K a week at a major club with global appeal ? As long as ETH continues with the route of Ronaldo isn’t a starter and Ronaldo works for the team or not at all and keeps his ego in check then we’ll just have to ride it out for a year.
He’s probably wanted by some clubs but just on nowhere near the wages he’s picking up here.

Can’t wait for his tell all explanation as to why Mendes has reportedly been calling around all of Europe. Late stag do plans perhaps?

When is the "Ronaldo tells it all" interview coming up? He said two weeks. Has it been two weeks yet?

I think its safe to say that he said that under the assumption he'd be gone from the club by now.

I don't expect anything from him if he stays.

Can't wait to see the back of him to be honest. His United legacy could have been a lot more romantic had he never returned.

It definitely won't come out (if it has even happened).

If he leaves it will be irrelevant and if he stays he will be on the media offensive trying to get support.

Homelander, er I mean, Ronaldo just assumes that whatever the outcome he can just tailor a few words to the situation and get whichever side of the fence he’s on to love him again. And you know what? The sad thing is he’s probably right.

I am sure he will come out and say something if he stays. Something along the lines of I want to bring the club back to its glory days. I wanted the club to make statement signings and now that we have in Casemiro and Antony, I want to give me all. Blah Blah! Praying that Boehly panics and takes him off our payrol

If he stays, he will be our top scorer this season.

Martial will barely be fit, Rashford will be dropped for Antony...and another 1-2 games, ETH will start giving the big man more minutes, and the goals will come.

The Instagram statement he will put out pretending like he wanted to be here the whole time will be so nauseating. And his supporters will eat it up too.

Hopefully ten Hag keeps him how he is — a rotational option with Martial being his first choice no.9 when he finally stays fit.

The deadline for UCL squads to be submitted is midnight CET on Friday 2nd Sep.

Anything is possible before then -he could agree to a termination with Utd and become a free agent and sign for someone by then - just can’t see him staying around as a bit part player.

Im sure he would have takers but just not on the obscene wages he’s been picking up or maybe expecting.

With Ronaldo, the equation changes. We're not talking just shirts but sponsors to those shirts and what not. It's a financial game changer. See how much Juve made off of him. It also depends per club what that split is like.
This issue isn't that simple. A lot of journos have talked about how its a myth to be replied back with it not being the case.

Like I said, it varies from club to club. Someone like Liverpool get 20% commission from shirt sales.

So, in 1 year he cost them 87,5M €, and made them 62M € going by that video. So, he was still kinda really expensive afterall. Then COVID turned the entire operation into a financial catastrophe...

It will be comical watching his PR team bend over backwards trying to convince us he didn't spend the entire summer doing everything in his power to engineer a move away. I just hope United fans, including his dedicated section of sycophants, don't buy into the bullshit. The fact is, Ronaldo didn't (and still doesn't) want to be here. And no amount of PR pandering will change that small fact.

Whatever has been going on behind the scenes, I've been impressed with how ETH has handled this as whatevever has been said has been kept private. I'm optimistic that the days of player power and pandering to the media are over.

If he's playing well and not being a disruption to the team who cares. He's still out best option up top. If he's scoring goals from Antony and Sancho that's all that matters and all that only ever mattered

THey should totally change his shirt to this and announce him over the tannoy as homelander

I had no problem with him staying as long as he didn't bring any drama. I thought and still think he's capable of being the first choice striker. But all the drama these past few weeks just suggests he will indeed bring unwanted drama and makes me wish we get rid.

I'd hate to see this season turn into "The Ronaldo show" on the side. Camera constantly focusing on him, pundits and fans always analysing whether we would have been better off with him on the pitch, him possibly bringing a negative atmosphere in the dressing room, our game play getting affected by his lack of pressing or hold up play etc

If he stays the PR is going to be nauseating. Just hope he's willing to keep his head down and not be disruptive for the season. Last thing we need is morale dropping again

If his game time is managed properly and he stops being a toxic cnut, he can offer something without the rest of the team going to shit.

It's a big if but we don't have any other option.

On the other hand though, he's in danger of ending his career at top level if he doesn't put in the work this season. If nobody wants him now when he just finished 3rd top scorer in the pl, it's going to be even worse if he ends up riding the bench this season and underperforming. So let's hope he sees this. He also loves silencing the critics who all think he's finished or can't adapt so hopefully him staying isn't all that bad

I'm just trying to cope right now

That's the key thing though, no way on this earth does he accept a role as a substitute.

I think we are better getting shut.

Could he not get a move in January?
By January the main clubs in for him would likely be eliminated from the CL. Although I would like for us to move him on then and then get a cheeky Mitrovic transfer in :D

There's not a team in the world that wouldn't take him as one of their five substitutions. Good news if he stays. His attitude appears to have been good in the past couple of weeks, from what we've seen on matchday anyway.

There's another twist or two in this.

Normally a big story breaks the night before deadline day. It's unlikely to be a signing now, so I think it'll be Ronnie related. He'll be pictured in Italy or something.

Tbh I can believe this. He's so driven by individual metrics that even if he can't add to his CL goals record he can still add to his league goals tally etc. It's hard to know how much he's really divided the squad internally etc but given we're celebrating the arrival of Anthony who effectively went on strike at Ajax feels odd that we couldn't let Ronaldo have another chance so long as he's not burnt bridges behind the scenes. Certainly last year when it was clear we weren't getting 4th he felt like a player who was trying more than most.

Why the feck doesn't he want to stay and give it a go with this team. The club is clearly showing ambition by bringing in quality players. One window doesn't define the rebuild project and I'm sure the next window we'll get in even more quality. It's not like the club is sitting on their hands and letting Magure, Shaw et-al stink up the place.
Has a chance to evolve his game as well in a high press team. He certainly has the stamina and fitness required for the role so it should be an easy sell for him.

Has a chance to be part of another great United side in the making and Instead he's choosing to feck off to god knows what team where he may not get that perfect end to his career.
Club is only showing ambition because Jim Ratcliffe said he wants to buy the club. Have you
been living under a rock or something. Before this Ratcliffe noise started it was fecking Arountavic and Rabiot. Afterwards the Glazers panicked and got Antony and Casemito. I expect in the next transfer window we will spend sod all if the Glazers are here. They will justify it by saying well we spent 220 million last summer.
