Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Ah the ever-reliable "Sport Witness".

Ronaldo might well have wanted (or still wants) to join us for the CL footy and maybe from a commercial perspective Boehly would likely be open to having him at the club but unless Tuchel changes his mind from earlier this summer it's not happening and Boehly won't walk over him on transfers either. Our primary stop gap target up front seems to be Aubameyang and as an alternative we've got Zaha being eyed up but there haven't been any even remotely serious links to Ronny for a couple of months now.

30 years on, the Terminators are about to conquer earth, and people still won't have understood that Sport Witness is not a source but an aggregator translating stuff from all over the world

It's oddly infuriating.

He's whoring himself around and for what, a few more ucl goals if he got that to begin with.

A sad sight to see.

it's both funny and infuriating at the same time if people call them out. They are doing such a fantastic job every window.

They get clicks, right? Job done for them

I just can't imagine Mendes scouring Europe for months for his greatest ever client and falling flat on his face.

To me it defies logic.

It's really weird how he can simultaneously be that desperate to leave and still seemingly unwilling to lower his wage demands. Surely he could easily get a move if he wanted. Needs to make up his mind and stand by his decision, seems like he wants to have his cake and eat it to. He's embarrassed himself so much this summer.

If our briefs about not signing anyone else are true, that means he's going nowhere.

I know Cristiano has been a pain in the arse this season, but people wanting to get rid without replacing are not considering we are alarmingly short in the striker department. Martial is injury prone as hell, so that would leave us with Rashford playing in that position. Is that really a better option than keeping Cristiano?

I'm sure Cristiano is doing all this circus because he wants to leave for UCL football, but as soon as the window closes theres no doubt in my mind that he'll turn up and be professional like he's always been. This won't be a case of Cristiano lowering his guns, he's to proud to do it.

Isn't a big part of him kicking up a fuss to do with the fact that he wants CL football? He isn't going to any team that doesn't have it. If he doesn't move now, I don't see why he would terminate his contract because he still isn't going to find a CL team.

Maybe because he won't be a starter here and won't buy into the required intensity and tactical discipline ETH demands? If he stays I do hope we see him show a willingness to play for the team.

Yes he'll ostensibly be professional, and of course he'll continue to have his drive for personal accolades and glory goals.

But every time he's benched the camera will be on him. Every time Martial misses a chance. Every time he walks moodily down the tunnel. And stand by for lots more damaging leaks, and some nauseating articles from Duncan Castles about how training is primitive and beneath the godlike status of CR7.

It's just a corrosive circus we can all do without. I'll put up with it for a season if he's banging the goals in, and accepting rotation professionally. But the heavy weight of him needs to be lifted off this squad so it can grow and be shaped on its own terms.

Don't you worry. If he is still around after the deadline there will be a lot of "family issues" followed by a lot of minor injuries followed by "additional days off". If Cavani could do it so could Ronaldo.

“Mendes not doing well” is actually the key factor in this whole sorry saga.

I don't know what people expect Mendes to do. His client is about to turn 38 - he can't perform miracles. His options are very limited.

He still has a good leap so perhaps Antony can get some good crosses in if he stays.

Probably not just CL goals for Ronaldo but other records like continuous and most CL appearances by year and so forth, never had to drop down to Europa and many more.

To stay immortal I can understand he wants to keep adding to it but at the same time like Formula 1 a lot of records end up meaningless as the competition changes. More games or a super league of sorts means players rack up a lot more and overtake.

Ronald is an icon, any club that gets him will sell shirts. For that reason, he probably sees no reason to take a pay cut.

Weasley? McDonald?

In all seriousness he’s already toxic and it’s not going to get better. Somehow he needs to be removed from the club or we will suffer the negative impact throughout the season. I thought getting rid of Pogba would result in an uptick, but now “consummate professional” Ronaldo is at it. I can’t wait for the end of these daft, legacy contracts.

15 goals in around 22 appearance, he is on course to become Nigeria record scorer.
I hope you are right mate but I don't see it myself
I know it sounds crazy but I prefer Emmanuel Dennis
Osimehin just seems to shoot from anywhere and is less of a team player from the little I've seen of him
I hope you are right and he becomes this £100million pounds player, I think what he has is a lot of potential but only time will tell.

Agreed, but there's also a possibility it dies down a bit. The first week its shocking, the second week it's still gossip and then people stop caring. It's accepted he is a rotation/bench option and he accepts he needs to start putting in the effort to be fit for the world cup.

Even if true, I don't think offsetting that is worth having no replacement at all. Unless we have someone ready to come in I absolutely do not think Rashford upfront or Martial is better than him.

shirts again, thought clubs made very little form the sale of shirts something like 7.5%

With Ronaldo, the equation changes. We're not talking just shirts but sponsors to those shirts and what not. It's a financial game changer. See how much Juve made off of him. It also depends per club what that split is like.

Ship him out, get Memphis on a free. He needs to be gone.
Memphis is not the answer either. We need a big bustling CF who will knock down the ball to our wingers cutting in as well as scoring goals. Ronaldo just wants to do it all himself, and Memphis is the same.

None of the best Premier League teams for the last 10 years have had a "big bustling CF".

For the national team it isn't close at the moment between them. Osimhen is the main man while Dennis is a rotation option. Osihmen has more stand out qualities, he combines height, strength pace and aggression which you wouldn't find in a lot of Strikers.
He isn't as tidy as a Benzema but he is decent with his hold and link up play. I think when you consider the fees paid this days then yes I expect Napoli to insist on 100m for him.
I don't see it happening this window though.

Not from his perspective. To him he's still the best player on earth that's why he keeps demanding things. Guy is a narcissist mind you. Such people are very very delusional about themselves. He's desperate to leave because he thinks us and the Europa League is well beneath his mighty self.
