Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

I don't want Osimhen on loan. If he doesn't do anything for us then it'll have been a waste.

If he kills it then Napoli take him back (which they will because Ronaldo isn't getting any younger) then I will be sad.

If we don't have to spend much on loan fees ect and he does well then it solves a big issue for us this season.

Why on earth would Napoli sign up to this?

Putting a class young striker on loan to sign up a pensioner that's probably a worse footballer at this stage?

Sounds like total bollocks.

The Napoli manager is a big fan. He said "If you're asking me if I'd like to work with Ronaldo, I tell you no coach would say no to that."

I reckon Mendes has him and the CEO tied up in a room somewhere, telephone glued to their hands.

There is not a chance Ronaldo is here come September 2nd. Mendes will get someone to bite - Ronaldo is not being benched by Elanga all season - their egos won’t take that. Hopefully we’re strong enough to ensure it’s on good terms for us.

Italian clubs do loan to buy obligations all the time. Would be the only way I see this happen (and would be fantastic for us).

If they're happy waiting a year for a transfer fee, then probably a few more years for the rest of the fee on drip feed, it would be brilliant for us. If I'm a Napoli fan I don't think I'd be ecstatic about losing a young talent in exchange for Ronaldo with no finances to improve the current situation beyond that.

I don’t think ronaldo will be benched by elanga for long. Much as we’d all like him gone, ronaldo will still be here next week.

He’ll be pissed off too. I think ETH has just punished him for missing pre season and being a dick. No way ETH doesn’t know how dangerous ronaldo is on the pitch, maybe ETH can create an angry ronaldo for one season? Stranger things have happened.

Win / win. We get ronaldo trying to prove all sorts of points and us / eth reaping the benefits before he leaves us next year. Just a thought. Just scattering seeds.

As detrimental as Ronaldo can be to the team, we can’t be loaning him to Napoli and then paying 85% of his wages to play for them. Absolutely no way. I refuse to believe we’ll be so stupid to do that

I don't think it would be as hard to get a tune out of Ronaldo as people think if he stays. He's only acting the idiot now because he needs to keep the transfer alive when it really had very little legs to begin with. Remove the toy and the child has to eventually adjust. Once the window closes and it's clear nothing is happening he will sulk for a week or two and eventually realise it's better for him and his brand if he scores a few goals.

Yeah we have someone who will put them on a plate which surely has to be interesting

Its a pretty standard situation in Italy though. They would get Ronaldo this year and then guaranteed 130m next year to replace Ronaldo with. Also - Italian clubs aren't super rich or anything, so it is a scenario that makes sense for all. They bought him for 70-80m a few years ago so it was always going to be a resale at 120m ish.

If we get Osimhein instead of him though as a loan to buy? feck yes would that be a great deal for us.

Exactly. He may well be a POS but he’s still one of the best goal scorers on the planet and with Sancho and Antony either side of him and Eriksen behind him the guy could have a field day this season.

We shouldn’t let emotion get in the way. Surely ETH sees this.

I don’t think he’d be a massive problem in the dressing room either. Not with ETH’s attack dogs now in the place anyway

That realistic possibility though?
Obligation to buy, maaaaaybe. Option? Nope. And then there's also the players' will to consider. Osimhen's agent already went on record to say he wants to stay to play CL, and the rumors coming out of Spain(where Cristiano/Mendes have plenty of friendly contacts) are Cristiano isn't interested in Napoli either...

Actually it's an incredible apt thing to bring up. The word Slavery is constantly brought up as cheap shot. Something incredibly serious being used as a common insult in a debate against a player who never even used the word.

So like the sexual assault, it's again telling of the headspace of the posters and fans bangin on the slavery door. They don't care about the awful history there, just that some player didn't want to stay at their club forever and ever.

These Ronaldo FC fanboys will say anything.

Loan deal with Napoli? His contract expires next year.

This is bizarre from Napoli.

I don't think they realise what they're getting with Ronaldo on the pitch.

Ronaldo has got "doing a Maradona" in his mind.

Edu is super close to Ronaldo -

The new philosophy on here is "not my money, better than the Glazers buying an island, trust me bro". Keep up.

This was done by July 9 when it was reported Tuchel didn't want him. No one else was a realistic option.

Surely if it comes down to it Ronaldo would happily terminate his contract and pay for (relative) pennies at any of the CL clubs who will take him.
I am convinced he is so focused on CL and league goals that he would take a huge pay cut & relocation to allow this.

Chelsea still haven’t signed a striker yet, Todd’s trigger finger will be getting very itchy.

Although I will admit, if I were Tuchel I’d very much see Ronaldo vs Aubamayang as being between a rock and a hard place

Joel glazer wont sell him. Loaning him out and just supplementing wages is just idiotic.

Why would we sell / loan him and still pay his wages? That would be stupid.

Either he plays for us and gets our money or don't play and gets paid by someone else. Simple.

Because ETH might feel its better for the team/club if he isn't around... Thus paying a portion of his wage (say 100k a week) is a worthwhile loss

Please, just get rid of Ronaldo. Terminate his contract or force him to terminate it himself by telling him he’s finished at the club. Make him train with the U18s until he gets the hint. The idea he is “desperate” to leave to advance his personal stats and wants United to help pay for the privilege really hacks me off. Get rid, time to move on.

Could it be that we have a lot of sponsor deals involving Ronaldo. That if he leaves will terminate or get drastically lowered. That would make the deal even worse if we have to “pay” him to leave.
