Regardless of the competitve argument it is frequently described as the fastest and most physical. Not where you want to end up as a 37 year old in a decent but not elite team starting a new team build.
 
So after 370 pages what is it we know
  1. haters gonna hate, fanbois will defend him to death

I agree with you in a sense, we shouldn't be the ones funding the move when it's Ronaldo and Mendes who are agitating for it. But at the same time, it might be the only way we can make a clean break from Ronaldo without this saga rumbling on for another year.

Ten Hag has publicly maintained the stance that he wants Ronaldo to stay but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he privately wanted a disruptive influence like that gone. The media circus that follows any time Ronaldo is on the bench, not in the squad or throwing a tantrum might actually mean subsidising his wages is a small price to pay from a manager's perspective. The only problem with that is it leaves us another body short in attack. Perhaps that's a gamble ten Hag is willing to take to get him out of the picture.

Best outcome would be Ronaldo going to Napoli for a year loan (we paying his wage), while Osimhen moving to us for a year loan too (them paying his wage). That would give us a decent striker for a year, without paying big fee (we are out of budget right now), and they would have Ronaldo for a year too, without big wage. And of course, Ronaldo would get his chance to play in CL, in an easier league, and chance fight for some trophy in the last years of his career.

Win win win situation for all IMO.

Why will they do it? They believe Ronaldo will score more goals than Osimhen and lift the team to another level?

Maybe, I don't know. If we look at this objectively, Ronaldo scored more goals than anyone in Italy just a year ago, and he is still top 3 goalscorer in PL last season too. And he would also bring new global attention to Napoli, which wouldn't be possible without Ronaldo. Plus maybe Napoli doesn't need as much to play high press system in Italy, I am not too sure.
