The insecurity is glaring, even on form it's hard to see Messi reaching 15 CL goals over the next 2 seasons.

The difference between the 2 will always be that Messi doesn't give a shit about stuff like that

Fair warning, I'm not a fan of your club, the player, or even Bayern München, but I'm big into football (transfer) gossip, so I sometimes lurk in your forum. And right now I feel like some of you could use a bit of an explanation on why Ronaldo to Bayern will not happen.

Kahn is saying nice things about Ronaldo because he's being painfully polite while turning the same guy down for the 4th time. I can understand wanting to interpret it differently when you're main concern is Ronaldo's future, but you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. That signing goes against everything Bayern wants for their team. I don't blame anyone for not being intimately familiar with the culture at Bayern (I know that feeling for other clubs. I don't speak a lick of french and whenever something goes on in Ligue 1 I rely on people giving me proper explanations because my lack of french makes it impossible for me to grasp the full context), but if you're interested, there are many reasons why they won't sign him that isn't money.

  1. His age.
Bayern don't sign players that old. Your only chance to get a contract when you're older than 32 is being a Chupo-Moting type of guy. Someone who will sit on the bench with a smile on his face but score some goals if he needs to, someone who speaks several languages and is a real social and connecting figure in the team.

  2. His status as a player.
Bayern has never been the kind of club that signs the biggest stars, and the reason for that is not purely financial. For the people in charge, "the club is bigger than the player" has always, always been true. You can be a star at Bayern, but you can't put yourself above the club.
Neuer and Müller, who are without a doubt the biggest stars for Bayern fans (Lewandowski never loved the club enough to be loved as full-heartedly by the fans), aren't the kind of guys who need everything to revolve around them. Their worst characteristics are being a bit of a dummy and dating basically the same woman who gets younger and younger at every iteration (Neuer), and having an awful sense of humour and being annoying (Müller).

  3. His personality.
I don't know how much of the conversation about their new prestige signings (Mané, de Ligt) reached the English-speaking press, but there was a big, big emphasis on both players being exactly that kind of personality they want at Bayern. Hard-working, down-to-earth, humble team players, who generate headlines on, not off the pitch. Does this sound like Ronaldo to any of you?
Even Lewandowski, who has the personality of a wet paper towel, had too much of an ego and was too demanding of a special role for them, especially towards the end (for players, Nagelsmann, and the higher-ups equally).

  4. The dressing room.
Put another 9 in the team who wants to be the main man and I'm pretty sure Gnabry is going to bite someone's head off. And if Gnabry is rightfully unhappy then good luck with the rest of the clique (Kimmich, Goretzka, Sané. Well, at least Süle left)

  5. The drama he brings.
Bayern had some minor implosions already last year, like the whole Hernandéz thing, or when Kimmich gave his (pretty dumb) interview about why he wasn't vaccinated yet. Afterwards, Josh didn't talk to the press at all for a long time, up to the point where he gave an in-depth and pretty serious interview to the national broadcaster, that was very obviously heavily prepared by PR professionals. This year, after Lewandowski had his "dead inside" interviews, Salihamidžić and he had a long call and the interviews changed their tone completely. Most likely because he had been told something along the lines of "we are willing to sell you for the right offer, but if you continue like this, you're not gonna get what you want, because we have enough money and spite to block this deal".
Bayern wants to control the media narrative and players going against that are being reined in quite regularly. Can't see Ronaldo being too happy by being treated like this.

  6. He doesn't fit the system that relies on a high line and intense pressing.
We could have a long discussion about Ronaldo just sliding into the gap Lewy left, but we probably wouldn't agree anyway, so let's just focus on what the trainer thinks. Nagelsmann is honestly super happy about the possibilities Lewandowski's departure brings. A recent quote from him: "There will be other solutions for us. We have many players who can play up front. It will be a new Bayern Munich. And I am looking forward to the new Bayern Munich," the coach said optimistically.

Of course, you are free to dismiss all of this, but maybe it was an interesting read for somebody here.

Return to Sporting would be amazing.

Nothing wrong with extending the record either, it won't be broken for generations.

So he faked a miscarriage?
If he genuinely wanted out because of the trauma they went through, do you really think United would be so callous as to deny him that? It's obviously footballing reasons, both wanting to leave and not going on preseason tour.

Sporting?
What's to say they'll even score many goals?

It seems mad to try and leave us for a small handful of games in 1 competition.
Plain daft.

He's a full-on egomaniac.

He'll forever be in Messi's shadow regardless of who has the most CL goals.

He was better than Messi only in Portugal and among large part of United fans. Now he is better only in Portugal.

If his partner and mother of his children doesn't want to come back to Manchester then what exactly is he supposed to do?

You think he's gonna be scoring a bag full of goals?

Read the article. Apparently even the Sporting coach has doubts about wanting him.

To put it into perspective, Porto scored 4 goals last GS.

According to Laurie Whitwell, Ruben Amorim (Sporting manager) "has reservations about bringing him given the huge change in dynamic he'd cause".

Even Sporting are unconvinced about the guy.

Great post, hope you stick around.

Him wanting to leave the premier league and United just to get a few group stage CL goals says it all about him tbh

Oh yeah, when I'm having personal problems I also post alot of pictures of me with my shirt of.
It's amazing how much some will go through to defend this guy.
You do realise that accounts as big as Ronaldo’s have scheduled posts? And that he doesn’t completely control his account and most likely his PR team?

Yeah, it is perfectly normal to come with agent in club on first day.
You missed the point. I didn’t say he didn’t want to leave. I said that him wanting to leave doesn’t mean he didn’t also have a personal problem.

Will be a good day when this selfish cnut is gone. Cant believe United are beinding over backwards for him.

bending over backwards because there isnt isn't a single club that's actually in the Champions League that wants to take Ronaldo on his current wages?

When I saw Ronaldo being linked with the likes of Napoli, I assumed it was due to his CL goal record that he wanted to leave. Means Ronaldo always planned to move once we couldn't qualify for CL yet still didn't bother telling us in time for us to properly prepare to replace him. That's always been the part I find kinda scummy despite some on here defending him. If he wanted to leave he could have made that clear well in advance instead of coming up with a bs pr swing about our lack of ambition.

feck him, we should let him go on a free while we can. Let him go to sporting so we can spank them in the EL later in the season.

Good read, thank you.

He's 15 goals ahead of Messi in the champions league, and Messi doesn't seem interested at all in those records anyway, and has stated he wants to play into his forties. If he stayed at United it's one season- just ONE- away from the competition  . He'll have that record for a long time regardless. It's all very silly.

Anyway, his fall from grace this summer has been spectacular. Really does seem that no one wants him, unless there's something we don't know about going on.

I’m not saying Ronaldo’s reasoning is correct but how are we so sure that we’ll qualify for it next season?

I’m not saying Ronaldo’s reasoning is correct but how are we so sure that we’ll qualify for it next season?
I'm not at all, in fact i'm far from convinced we'll make top 4 this season, but Ronaldo's contract is a 2 year (plus 1) deal and I think the club won't trigger the contract extension if he stays and is unhappy.

The thing which i don't understand; IF he (whos net worth is over a billion i think) is so desperate to leave and hunt glory/records/ whatever, why doesn't he just rebuy his contract? Yes, 15-20 mil is shit load of money and he is a pro who is playing for the money etc...but he can afford it. If jis desire is so strong.

Yes, Ronaldo to Bayern is difficult, I don't see it happening for many reasons as posted.

Ronaldo could be a good supplementary player, I feel if Bayern did take him on he'd have a list of strict conditions. Big problem is Ronaldo wants CL goals, he can't take being on the bench and would be causing a scene trying to get on the pitch but no big club really wants him up front for the majority their CL games. He might have to lower his sights to a Napoli or Sporting and play for a very low wage or come down in playing expectations at a Bayern.

He didn't come here thinking he'd win the CL, he got what he wanted which were CL goals, playing every game. We knew he'd want to be off if we didn't qualify. He'd fit best being the novelty star man for a year at a mid tier CL club giving him greater chance to score.

You do realise that accounts as big as Ronaldo’s have scheduled posts? And that he doesn’t completely control his account and most likely his PR team?
Again you're defending him, and I don't understand why.
Even if he some kind of toddler and his account is controlled by his mom or handlers, then surely they would known it's in pretty bad taste and disrespectful to post that kind of content if he's having personal problems and is away from the club where he is being paid stupid money to be.
So he's either ignorant or arrogant.

When I saw Ronaldo being linked with the likes of Napoli, I assumed it was due to his CL goal record that he wanted to leave. Yeah this is how I feel about it too. If he wants to leave then fine, wouldn't blame him. But this power move he's tried to play by waiting to announce he wants to go because of CL football, after his crap about looking forward to working with Ten Hag, thinking we'd be scrambling and just let him run off somewhere means he can feck right off.

The only good thing about this whole saga has been that the mannequin looking cnut has discovered that he has bugger all power nowadays.

Yes, so many other fanbases put our soft touch one to shame really. I wish we had the same ruthlessness as atletico's fanbase but you know full well a majority of our fambase will be singing ronaldo's name if he is forced to stay and scores for us or comes back to our ground as just a "special guest" before a match in the future when he has retired.
I was delighted he came back last year but this is bad form from him. I understand it from the point of view that our recruitment is shit and shows very little ambition, but him throwing a strop just adds to our problems.
Maybe if he feck s off, we get this Sesko lad and he scores loads but lots of ifs there.

Of course, you are free to dismiss all of this, but maybe it was an interesting read for somebody here.
Fair assessment, mate. Don't worry, not many actually think he'll go to Bayern Munich. We do want it to happen though.

I think the main reason Munich has openly talked about this is Ronaldo does want to go there and his agent surely has contacted them for months.
BM is Ronaldo would be biggest chance to win another CL after all. City had rejected him last season, Real Madrid won't resign him, Liverpool? just signed no 9.

The insecurity is glaring, even on form it's hard to see Messi reaching 15 CL goals over the next 2 seasons.

The difference between the 2 will always be that Messi doesn't give a shit about stuff like that

You can end the sentence and tweet after "Champions League club". The rest is factual, while specifically adding Messi is just to garner attention and pettiness.

Ronaldo wants to continue playing at the elite competitions, which includes CL. Kind of already knew this once United weren't qualifying for CL last season and so the threat of him leaving should have always been considered, similar to players not coming if United weren't in the CL. Thing is, then why did Ronaldo accept a 2 year deal and not a 1 year deal. Him and Mendes screwed themselves, in addition to a market so limited that he's not deemed essential as a 1 year rental, 2 at best.

If his partner and mother of his children doesn't want to come back to Manchester then what exactly is he supposed to do?

Honour the multi million pound contract he signed.

Seriously though, the reasoning behind pushing for an exit is legit, why on Earth would any CL club be arsed about bringing in someone who's main aim is basically trying to stat pad??

Its no surprise Amorim has reservations when he actually has a decent project and young team he's building and wants to grow. It would be a wrecking ball to their whole locker room equilibrium bringing in fecking Ronaldo and he knows it. His authority would also be constantly challenged.

No self respecting club or manager would want to put up with that just to play the role of vanity project for the biggest ego in sports, no matter the commercial benefits.

He has more of a shot ending up in Europa at Sporting than actually winning the crown which we've been led to believe is his ambition...

Good post, mate.
