Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

I read a rumour today (not in English so i will not post it) that Bayern, despite saying no, is doing research how much money they can get from Ronaldo's name.
He will end in Bayern, mark my words

People mentioned him being rejected by clubs - there's different kinds of rejections. Clearly in Bayern they appreciate his quality, just look at what Kahn had to say about him 2 days ago, and it makes sense to replace Lewa with someone with the same quality up front to score loads of goals and keep team shape/startegy as close as possible to last year. There's something else keeping them on the back foot, and it's not Cristiano's quality, more than likely when they mentioned "philosophy", it's about the wages he gets.

I'm a big fan of the guy but I've been saying for 3-4 years - best thing he could do with his career would be to lower his wages. He doesn't need the money, he could keep going with big clubs more easily with lower wages, and his teams could fetch better players to be alongside him by not weighting so much on the wage sheet.

I also don't want to question him about his own personal thoughts about his legacy - because he's the only one living it, not me - but I look at the last season and I think his impact overall on the English circles has seemed to be quite positive. He's certainly shown he can be up to scratch at his age in the PL, so I think he could have a blowout season in United under a more cohesive, attacking team. I think that would add to his legacy a bit, having produced quality numbers in England at age 37/38, so I'd like for him to stay, I think he could add into his legacy by staying and things working out nicely. But that's my view on his career, and it doesn't matter much I guess.

As much as I like him I gotta hand it in that he's not done things particularly well in this window.

There’s no proof he actually went on strike though. I know this has beaten to death on here but him having personal issues and wanting to leave aren’t mutually exclusive.

All tier 1 Journalists indicated that he did in fact have personal problems.

And his behaviour at Juve last season suggests we should give him the benefit of doubt with that at least.
Oh yeah, when I'm having personal problems I also post alot of pictures of me with my shirt of.
It's amazing how much some will go through to defend this guy.

We have an option for another year and the idea behind this talk is we exercise that option before he goes on loan.
Feck that. Let him play here for another year and then he can go wherever the feck he wants for free, or just terminate his contract with him repaying any wages that were paid while he was on his extended holiday.

Yeah, it is perfectly normal to come with agent in club on first day.

He wasn't on an extended holiday.

Ronaldo will never take a big pay cut while he still believes he's the apex predator in the jungle.

We know he's driven by individual accolades. Ronaldo doesn't want to acknowledge that other players could be valued equally to him, nevermind more than him. Remember when he got 'triste' at Real Madrid because Messi was being paid more?

You are right. Even at 37, a lot of clubs would take Ronaldo on £250,000 a week. However, would Ronaldo's pride tolerate knowing that the likes of Neymar were now on several times more than him? To Ronaldo that's like saying Neymar is worth twice as much as him. Could his ego allow it?

This whole fiasco is the direct consequence of Cristiano's inability to accept he isn't what he was. In his mind he's still the guy he was half a dozen years ago. However, the rest of the football world doesn't see it that way. He probably thought he only needed to imply he was open to moving and doors would open across the footballing world. Sadly, nobody is stepping forward to offer him the escape routes he wants on the money he wants. Even after offering to cut his wages by 1/3rd.

If Ronaldo had any sense he'd go back to Sporting. Sporting would give him the chance to play in the Champions League and a serious shot at winning Liga NOS. However, again, his self-image can't accept a move back to Portugal. In his mind he should still be playing in one of the 'big' leagues for one of the 'big' clubs.

The fact he used social media to distance himself from a return to Sporting was so short sighted and shows how myopic he has become. He could have spun the romance of 'coming home' to Sporting. Instead he continues to behave like he's too big for Sporting, just as he is acting like he's too grand for Man Utd. If he has a PR he clearly isn't listening.

What a fall from grace, man. Guys begging to join his dream clubs biggest rivals when the fans don’t even want him

Not only the fans, the President publicly said he doesn't want him. Based on the latest Sainz slush piece, Ronaldo really isn't getting the message. He's started to look deluded. Honestly, for his sake, I hope Atleti make an offer and he can go. Cos right now he's coming across as a fantasist.

Keep it about the post rather than being personal.

You're wrong; you haven't provided any evidence that remotely says Martial is good enough. The evidence is he has a level of technical abilities and not enough end product. There are many people who can juggle a ball that are far better sticking to TikTok or the circus. Scoring the odd goal in preseason against weaken opposition doesn't demonstrate he's good enough for the league, it illustrates his level to be able to perform which isn't united's main CF.
I can only draw conclusion that you did not watch our games.

Are not the deluded people the ones who are getting all triggered about 'speculation' on one of the biggest transfer saga this summer? Caf is yet again having another toxic transfer window. All I care about is we improve midfield and have someone replace Ronaldo if he leaves, no need for all the people taking personal issue with him, with hindsight he shouldn't have decided against City.

I want Ronaldo to end up at atletico just for the show between the madrid rivals.

But deep down i want him to join Chelsea so that they dont get into the Top4 and thats good for us.

Why?

edited: do you honestly believe martial would have scored against Liverpool with VVD in defence?

I am sure he will just not so sure they will be aware of it.

I have this vision of Ronaldo buying his own kit from the club shop, boys medium obvs, and trying to sneak onto the pitch when they play CL.

Going to Atletico just smacks a bit of going somewhere just to save face.

Well, it’s still a perennial La Liga title contender and CL regular, so I can understand why he wants to go there. But you are right, just doesn’t come across as his primary or even second choice. But it’s pretty crazy if you think about it, that he is willing to diminish his legacies with both United and Madrid in this way.

Their president already poured cold water on it but maybe a desperate Mendes has something up his sleeve...

He’s been advised terribly here. Looks like a right plum.

I can’t find anything within me to care either way, mind. Not arsed one bit.

Objectively, I think it’s in his interest, as well as ours, to knuckle down and stay for another year. Help us get back into the Champions League and swan off to Sporting for a couple of years. We eventually buy a replacement in twelve months time and everybody’s a winner.

Napoli wont be close to win UCL so its basicly just to play some games in group stages and score a couple of goals.

The fact is that they are in the CL. They are a decent enough team to get out of their group dependent on the draw and take their chance. And then play in a league that is familar to him and not as competitive/demanding as PL. That's what he wants, just a chance again to play in the elite competitions. United aren't there.

Again, it's part of Ronaldo's experience dealing with time. It's never kind to top athletes and his desperation is show. Kind of sad, but that's how he's handling it. Athletes deal with it differently.

If cl goals / games are so important to him how come he didn't insist on a release clause if United failed to qualify?

Negotiating with woody when United thought he would turn them into champions and scared he would go to city... Can't imagine it would have been too difficult to negotiate at the time

That said I would like to think that 400k a week or whatever he is on and playing in the premier League and a chance to help his team qualify for the cl next season might be more important than racking up his personal tally of cl goals but it seems not

Hope Messi smashes in 20 cl goals and lifts the world cup this season to put him firmly in his place

Thinks he can beat Sir Stanley Matthews record and play on into his 50’s
