His mum has been liking pictures of him in a Bayern kit on Instagram apparently. There’s a lot of smoke to this Bayern stuff…

Well like I said earlier we have to go all in for Schick, that Osmihen guy is far too pricey when still need to sort RB & RW too

Aye this is after selling Lewa btw

Bayern playing hard ball to get him on the lowest possible wages.

Yeah this along with Goldbridge's tweet (he's a twat but he's actually had some genuine ITK info recently) makes me think that this is basically a done deal.

You can probably bring up a sample size for most strikers and see they have barren runs and also score in patches.
Sure. There’s barren runs and then there’s that. How can even his biggest fans deny how streaky/patchy he was after seeing those stats?

Schick isn’t for sale. He’ll cost just as much as Osimhen and neither are worth their price tags. Get Joao Pedro or Danjuma and keep Martial motivated. Use DVB to get Antony. Fluid front 3. Solved.

Didn’t goldbridge back track on the Ronaldo to Bayern tweet?

But yeah there’s definitely more to this than meets the eye. Fabrizio was saying he was gonna stay at Juve until the 11th hour last year too.

If the team was playing decently and he was the only one struggling (ala Torres at Chelsea) then I’d have genuine concerns. But when we were as bad as we were then I don’t know if you were expecting him to pull a rabbit out of his ass every matchday. The whole team struggled as a whole which reflected in his streaky form. But on the whole it was still impressive for him to amass 18 league goals (3rd topscorer in the league).

Those two underwhelmed in this league at Watford & Brentford would be my worry there. Will give you that using Van Der Beek to get Antony is interesting idea though.

Already it feels like he's struggling to make an impression in this team even with his old manager now in place.

If we really want the RashfordxMartialxSancho connection to properly work then we need to bin Ronaldo off. I kept saying it last year - he disrupted that lockerroom and was probably the one who started the hostilities. Yes the players we have do have a poor mentality but to be fair theyve had to make do with poor managers for 3 years. We get two games into pre season and its like watching a different team - a team with a plan B. If you watched the Pool game and then the MV game we played different in each one and even managed to break stubborn as hell low block. That alone is better than anything I've seen since pre-Ole!

However thay being said if Ronnie goes we will need a few more options in attack in case of injuries...

Is this true or a fake account?
It’s true, I checked.

But doesn’t necessarily mean anything. She follows the page and likes most of their pics. She could just like the idea of Ronaldo going to Bayern. Doesn’t mean it’s a done deal.

I know. For me, it just lends credence to the fact that it isn’t a family issue keeping him out.

Vardy scored as many non penalty goals in the league in far fewer minutes, playing for a team who finished below us in the league. Fair to say he’s a better footballer than Ronaldo for you? Given numbers are the be all and end all of course.

Joao Pedro is only 20 - the goals will come - I think he has everything a modern attacker needs. Schick is a traditional number 9 - I don’t think that’s the profile we want. He did have an elite season in terms of goals last year - but he’s in germany where every fecker scores goals.

Vardy is a fantastic striker in all fairness.

He also recently signed a new contract

There’s nothing to it at all. It makes no sense to Bayern in the slightest however much he wants it to happen.

Not sure that it makes no sense. They've just lost a 40+ goal a season striker. Ronaldo financially is not ideal but he could be a great stop-gap for them whilst they sniff out their next long term striker.

Honestly I'd bin him just for missing the first weeks. It's hard enough implementing a new system without having to integrate a straggler. His shite chemistry with our other attackers will be even shitter. By now we would have been working on integrating him into a role more team oriented than camping at the backpost. Should just have turned up till a move presented itself. Pogba level delusion to think there'd be a bidding war for his services. The guy's ego probably isn't even ready to take a reduced role.

So they want to pay somebody who’s not as good, to score less goals for a season, rather than but somebody a lot cheaper and still win the league and probably give them more of a chance in the CL (given Ronaldo’s obvious negative effect on team play)?

There isn’t any sense to the move at all. That’s the level Ronaldo’s at, he’s a detriment to any top side.

Yeah sod it let's just get Antony to balance attack, yes it leaves us without proper number 9 but been playing without one so far this pre season

Well Vardy also had a better minutes per goal than anyone else in the league (and on par with Salah). Don’t know what that means but it doesn’t mean Ronaldo is crap.

Yes, they have lost a lot of goals by selling Lewandowski. But Bayern’s tactics were - rightfully so - very Lewandowski centric.
I am sure you can somewhat distribute his 50 goals to Mané (20), Gnabry (+10), Müller, Coman, Sané, Musiala (+5 each).

In the same way you're 'stuck with' 35 year old Jamie Vardy? :)

Ronaldo, at 37, is obviously 'past his prime' - as that 'prime' was scoring 50/60 goals a season! But he still scored 24 goals last season - as many as Vardy has ever managed in a season for Leicester. And if he stays, with a team with more creativity and tactics under ETH, there's no reason to assume he couldn't manage at least the same again.

And if he joined Bayern Munich - a more dominant team in a weaker domestic league - he'd definitely be capable of scoring 30 goals in the season (he's scored 60 goals in the last two seasons in Serie A and the PL - which averages out at 30 a season).

But I agree that a move to Bayern seems unlikely based on their comments and transfer policy. And I hope it doesn't happen, as I'd like him to stay here for one more year while we address other areas that we need to strengthen. It's already a tough enough job to get the de Jong deal over the line, maybe strengthen RB, maybe a DM, another striker to replace Cavani / Greenwood, etc. I'd like to delay the expensive #9 addition until next summer.
Ha, touché :).

Seriously as much as I love Vardz, there's no way I'd try to even remotely compare us and him to Ronaldo and Bayern. And they are two very different cases. One rose within a couple of years from non-league to a national star, found his home and shat on any offer made after that quite unique adventure in 2016. In his mind, he's got nothing to "prove" and I personally think that he's been incredibly wise when he refused to go to Arsenal. He's a Leicester legend but also quickly knew how high his ceiling was (I hope that no other Leicester fan will read that).

Ronaldo on the other side is an absolute football monster with an unquenchable thirst for trophies and glory. Every single step of his career and his footballing evolution will never cease to amaze me, even if he comes across to many including me as an obnoxious knob. What he achieved on and off the pitch, is a sight to behold and I consider him to be one of the most intelligent footballers I've ever seen. In my personal view what he "lacks" in raw talent, and I use the expression very loosely, compared to say Messi, Ronaldinho or Maradona, was more than largely compensated by his dedication, iron will, and drive to win. In this particular aspect, he's the absolute GOAT for me. But his biggest strength is now becoming his biggest weakness as he (and his fans) seemingly refuses to accept that he's getting older and just not that good anymore. No matter how fit he keeps himself. There's a reason why every big club has slammed the door shut.

I highly doubt that he'd currently score 30 goals in the german league. Setting aside the typical english disdain and underrating of the Bundesliga, it would suppose that he plays every game and doesn't lose any yard of pace in the coming season which I just can't see. That goes for the PL as well. I'm fairly certain that Bayern in their actual form and shape would never put all their chips in the Ronaldo basket nor rely on him as a savior. They don't need him, even if it means that they'd miss on winning the Bundesliga. UCL is a given unless a cataclysmic event happens.

If he knuckles down and let his gigantic ego aside, it could really be beneficial for you. You've got an excellent manager, very good signings, and I think that it's now the start of your journey back the top which will imo happen quicker than many think. I saw you against Liverpool and Melbourne, EtH's influence is very obvious. You're playing like a team again. Even if you don't get another striker and he goes, it's only short term pain for a long term gain. I wouldn't be too fussed about that. You'll need more than one window to cull the previous manager's dross and bring in new players anyway.

If not, I fear that he's going to absolutely wreck your season.

What a shit situation. Nobody wants him and he wants out. He can't just take back that he wanted out.
Unhappy player who will sulk because he stayed and who will make whole shit of drama if ETH puts him on the bench.

He will be a much bigger virus in changing room than Pogba ever was.

Ronaldo should be happy to be in a historical team like United at 37 earning what he is earning. In his current form/age no other big team would pay him that much. If he reduces it by half and United don't ask for a transfer he might have a chance

If only there was another historical club paying fortunes to old players

I think it would probably be in everyone’s best interests if we pay him off and just let him go.

No chance though.

I think he would be professional if he comes back. However, he should be used as and when needed and not demand to be starting. I'd rather have him sulking on the bench than ruining our new playing style. That being said, he's a great goalscorer and that's great to have in the squad.

We need a backup that's for sure
