Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

What is the definition or the qualification to be a Legend for the club? Ian Wright is an Arsenal Legend. He spent six years with Arsenal, won one league title, 2 FA cup and 1 league cup, and 1 Europe Cup Winners Cup. I believe Ronaldo won way more than that for Utd.

above all, genuine love for the club like Totti at Roma, Riquelme at Boca, Del Piero at Juve etc..

because no one wants him? All i'm seeing is a very doubtful Chelsea. Bayern have effectively said no which leaves...which big club in Europe?

Rumors circulating that Carlisle might need to replace Omari Patrick before the end of the window so I would keep an eye on a move there for Ronaldo. Everyone knows Cumbria is the jewel of the north.

I still think it will be Lincoln City who signs him but who knows

You can understand why he wants to move on after seeing that pre season tour squad.

....at another club who have ambitions to win big trophies. Unfortunately, that's not us and it frustrates the hell out of me.

I do hope he stays, but I just can't see that happening.

Where are his ambitions? Strolling around and waving his arms around while barely bothering to run?

No wonder we went from 2nd to 6th when he joined. It's up to him to grow up and look at himself.

As Logan Roy would say, "feck off then!"

In hindsight this was a big mistake of a transfer. Disrupted our entire team and the dressing room. Most of the squad was the same from the year before, and there were hardly any news on squad disharmony (if anything it was the opposite). Last season it all went to shit in a spectacular fashion. I am not saying he is solely responsible, but he definitely had a part to play in it. I'm very sure we would have ended up doing better if we didn't sign him.

Doing a Harry Kane on us this proper cnut. Fans should stop singing his name at OT and in the away games. He doesn’t give a crap about the club and our supporters

Because kit launches mean absolutely nothing?
Paddy Vieira jumped ship in the last season at Highbury and effectively ruined* some of the best kit launch pics I've ever seen (Arsene in early 20th century era clothing and the players in that outstanding burgundy(edit) jersey

* Didn't ruin it because it's fecking fantastic.

Have to admit I did like that burgundy kit. Was it purely to mark the last season at Highbury?

No one wants him but that was to be expected given his current ability/salary/expectations/drama, it’s only in his head where he is in red hot demand and must be untouchable.

He should not get a minute more to play in the utd shirt regardless of whether we get offers or not.

The knob needs to be taught a lesson that he is subservient and inferior to the club, this will also send a chilling message to all the players that happy hours are over.

Unfortunately, yes. The yellow away one was also a beaut, though slightly tarnished by CL final loss memories.
For some reason that yellow shirt is always one of the first things that come to mind when I think of Arsenal. Probably only behind as you say that Burgundy one and also the classic Dreamcast number.

So you are going to send a message to all players that the happy hours are over, using our best outfield player as the example? The only player who has a desire to win, where all the other outfield players have no issues losing, as long as they get paid?
Have you forgotten the hattricks he scored for us. We'd have lost to bottom of the league Norwich had it not been for him. He is our best outfield player. No ifs. No buts.
We need Ronaldo to stay to combat the poor attitude which is rife in our dressing room. If he leaves, the deadwood players are the only players who will remain. The players that we can't sell because their ability is low and salary is high.

It just makes no sense. Surely he wouldn’t do this unless he was sure there were likely destinations.

And in fairness he still has that goal scoring knack. I’d be surprised if there isn’t someone who take a chance on him before the end of the window.

The only player in the squad who put in a transfer request to leg it. Yes, that's why he should be made an example of.

Only player who has desire to win ? I think he desires to improve his stats more than what is beneficial to the team. Remember when he threw a hissy fit when rangnick subbed him ? We were leading and rangnick wanted another player who would do the dirty work that is apparently beneath ronaldo, but ronaldo was having none of it.

Absolutely. I don't want to see him in a united shirt again. What sort of message does it send the other players if a senior figure can throw his toys out of the pram and down tools. The cnut signed a contract with a club he apparently loves. The least he can do is honour it, he's being paid waaay more than he's worth.

He's not our best player. With him in the team, everything has to be tailored to his strengths at the detriment of our other players. Get rid of Ronaldo (and Rangnick incidentally), and we'll see a much improved attack. Sancho, Fernades and Rashford were all a shadow of the player that we know they can be.

The club is bigger than any player.

that team has De Gea, Varane, Sancho, Bruno and about to land Eriksen. Yes we are not world beaters right now but if you add his name in that mix plus the potential for the likes of FDJ and Antony we arent crap. we also have Rashford who can turn up and be mbappe light or the worst professional footballer on the island (who knows).

Yes we played like shit last year but honestly that team isnt as bad on paper as we often make it sound. It’s not deep (at all) but cant be saying we’re that bad.

He and his partner did suffer the loss of a child in April, not that long ago. Surely people can take that into consideration. I suspect there is a fair bit going on in his head right now and while we dont like how this is playing out he deserves a bit more respect than some of the childish shit people like you are dishing out. Grow up. "the knob needs to be taught a lesson he is subservient and inferior to the club" ?????
who the feck talks like that?

This is such an irrelevant point that lacks any sort of context and is just cherrypicked to support your agenda.

Real Madrid fared horribly in the immediate aftermath of Ronaldo’s departure. They recorded their worst season in terms of league position and number of goals scored since the year before he joined them. They were also eliminated embarrassingly in the UCL R016 - something that hadn’t happened for about 9 seasons while Ronaldo was there. They had very little source of goals beyond Benzema and had to begin prioritising defence which is what won them la liga in the 19/20 season.

Only after 4 years are they looking like Real Madrid of old and they still aren’t as dominant and fearsome as they were when he was there.

And it’s Real Madrid. They’re not gonna struggle forever.
They fared horribly because they had a terrible manager. Once Zidane returned they were competitive again.

Him returning to United was one of those be careful what you wish for, it might just happen things. The team finished second and seemed to have some coherence going until Woodward dropped him into the mix and completely reset everything we planned for in preseason and going into the season.

That pre-season squad is a fecking car crash and people are wondering why Ronaldo wants out. Why is nobody at the club embarrassed?

The cracks from lack of coaching and squad management were already starting to show in that team from the previous season before Ronaldo got there. Whether his signing sped up the process afterwards is possible.

He is a gobshite. Feck him

I’d honestly take a few seasons at mid table obscurity hovering between 10 and 12th if it meant we could off load some of you lot

They finisher fourth and were knocked out in Rd of 16. Same as his last season. Before he joined, they were much better. Your point is?
My point is clearly that they were worse without him last season. Scored something like 25 less goals in the league too.

The squad is a bag of shit though, let's be honest.

I predict this will happen:

There will be no takers, and he is forced to return to the squad late into the pre season.

Ten Hag then struggle to include him in the squad early in the season, other players taking his place will perform.

He then relegated to the bench, struggling to get into form, keep getting denied in the starting line up, frustrated.

In January he will still push for a move, but no takers again. United then declined to activate his one year clause.

Ronaldo will leave for free in the end of the season with a bad drama and taste to us fans.

The end.

It's the human nature, I guess. You give them countless of good memories, but all they remember and cling on are those few bad memories for the rest of their life.

And I'm aware that I'm guilty of this also.

Great quote from Barney Ronay today about what they said in Italy about Ronaldo…”Ronaldo is the solution to the problem that he himself creates”.

It’s impossible to function as a high pressing, fluid, modern team with Ronaldo in the side. There is no doubt that he’s still an incredible goal scorer, a physical specimen, a leader, a professional, and has ultra-high standards. But that is not mutually exclusive from the fact that he makes us, and virtually any top team he plays for, worse. He’s old. He doesn’t move, he doesn’t press. And he comes with a massive wage premium and an almost unstoppable status.

I was delighted to have him back last summer, but I can say with hindsight that it was wrong, I was wrong. He completely derailed any fluidity we had. I think the sooner we can ship him out the better. We need two replacements because we are already light up front, but in order to move forwards, he has to go. The only other option is him as an impact sub and rotational player, and there is no way he will ever accept that. Which is a huge part of the problem.

Yes, he is better than all our other forwards. But because of what he is incapable of doing anymore, he makes us a worse team. A parting of ways is for the best for all parties.

Does it make sense that having one player who doesn't fit on the system, make the whole Team can not implement the system?

If Inzhagi played at City, would their fluid pass and move system collapse, and KdB suddenly played like championship player, or Ruben Dias suddenly defend like Titus Bramble?
