Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

It's a shame he's leaving on the low. Should have never picked us, we should have never taken him (although I kind of understand why we've taken that risk).
China/USA should be his destination.
That's going to be a hard pass from Ronaldo.

You're wasting time, emotional energy and electrons, aside from putting yourself at increased risk of RSI, responding to stuff like this.

If people are convinced he's the "consummate pro" there's nothing that can be done.

PS apparently we need to be more like Liverpool fans...
I very much pick and choose when I’m going to pick out a post like that (and as of yet haven’t managed to get a single response, funnily enough).

It’s almost impressive levels of ostriching and ignoring, well, his entire career. I understand letting off a 20 year old for this stuff, but man is far closer to 40.

Why do the media/people keep suggesting MLS if Ronaldo wants to compete at the top for another few years?
No disrespect but can someone tell me what "top honours" you can win in the MLS?

I think we need to sort out whether he's staying or leaving in the next week at latest.

We really don't have enough goalscorers in the side if he leaves. We'll need to go into the market. We've obviously been linked with Antony for the RW, but it's not like he's been banging in goals throughout his career, and it'd be stupid to hope Rashford steps back up.

Yeah realistically we need Antony and a striker

Ronaldo to Ajax please, we have no striker.

:p

[Simon Stone] Cristiano Ronaldo: Is Manchester United forward's time up at Old Trafford? | "A United source concluded the saga will end with Ronaldo exiting the club." | "Yet the club have to say that in order to protect their asset. For their part, United are adamant he is going nowhere. "

Byeee.

This will likely be Ronaldo's last shot at being a professional footballer.
I expect him to knuckle down to business.

....at another club who have ambitions to win big trophies. Unfortunately, that's not us and it frustrates the hell out of me.

I do hope he stays, but I just can't see that happening.

COPE: Chelsea leads the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo The club is preparing an offer of 16.5 million euros for the Portuguese.

Stay or go I don't want to hear his name being sung in OT ever again. A pure mercenary whoever only cared about himself. The fact he's refusing to turn up to work is disgraceful. Wish the club would grow some balls and fine him.

Indeed. Which is why it actually doesn’t make me bitter towards him, because I know what to expect and I don’t really believe that more than a tiny handful of players have ever “loved the club” anyway.

I get far more wound up by his fanboys posting easily disprovable (to normal people) bollocks than by anything Ronnie is likely to do. I feel exactly the same towards Jose.

It will be, all the time.

No, not even a slim chance. Hes 37 and perhaps has 2 years left at this level. There was like a 2% chance of him winning the league/CL when he arrived. He came for the money. Hes not completely stupid. He will have known that even after finishing 2nd we weren't even close to competing for the title.
I don’t know why some of you keep repeating the same illogical points. How on earth could he have come for the money when he was making €30 MILLION NET at Juventus. He took a considerable pay cut leaving. He obviously felt the project there wasn’t right and they were a million miles away from winning the CL. I still maintain he only came here because he was convinced by Sir Alex, Rio and Evra. SAF said as much that he had a long talk with him. Otherwise, he would’ve been at city.

Chelsea now bookies favourite.
Would be funny if he signs for them and we oust them from the top4. Its a real possibility with the CBs they have lost and the kind of team imbalance fitting in Ronaldo could create.

I'm biased but I think he's being incredibly shortsighted with this move.

Up until last season most United fans would have considered his a United legend and with this move he will have burned that bridge, meaning he won't be able to be associated with us in anyway for the rest of his life. No legends games or club appearances or whatever. That has to be worth more for the rest did his life that getting 5 more CL goals and maybe an extra 2 million in wages this year right?

Have you just met him? I mean he doesnt care one bit if he'll be associated with us. All he care is his accolades which is fine but him caring about United is a huge myth.

Still don't believe the Glazers are ever going to sign off on selling their poster boy to their new rival American owner on the block...

Likely going to be his only potential suitor this summer but I'd be genuinely shocked if we sold them fecking Ronaldo

None of the London press pack is going hard on Ronado to Chelsea.

Mendes and Ronaldo's people in Spain well have been given this line. Perhaps the move really is happening and the English side is playing it down. However, until I see Chelsea journalists like Matt Law going really strong on the story I'm not buying it. All the Chelsea journalists are on Sterling to Chelsea not Ronaldo to Chelsea. Maybe that changes soon..?

if he is leaving, why include him in the commercial for the launch of the new kit?

I'm guessing it was all filmed ages ago, long before Mendes started really canvassing for interest in Cristiano.

He called himself a slave to try and get his move to Madrid, fans still sing his name. I doubt this will affect his legacy at United long-term. Honestly, I'm not that bothered. I thought I would be more agitated about the whole thing. On a scale of Hughes to Chelsea vs Veron to Chelsea, I'm definitely more the latter than the former. Its not City, its not Liverpool, its not likely to happen and, even if it does, its not likely to deliver Chelsea a big trophy. So who cares?

Maybe but all the reliable sources are saying that the football people at the club want him gone.

If Arnold is leaving all those kinds of decisions to Murtough, I think he would go to Chelsea if they're the only ones interested.

This would be wonderful. Might happen too. Can't see any other team who would have some chance of winning the CL signing him.

I think Ronaldo leaving is great news. He is a disruptive influence (see exhibit A - last season) and he is not a team player, in fact he is the polar opposite of a team player, thew whole team has to serve him.

Also, at this point in time he is bigger than the club, his earnings last year were probably on a par with the profit the club made in same period. He has more Instagram followers than we have fans.

Andy Mitten said yesterday on the TOTD podcast that there will be a lot of people on the football side at United who would be relieved if he left. I took this to mean some or many of the players.

He scored 18 league goals for us last season, half of which came in just three games. Does anyone really think he is worth the trouble? I don't and I doubt ETH does either.

You are making it sound like we are too small for him just because we are in the Europa League. We are doing him a favour by making the guy relevant still tbh.

He used United’s name to his benefit all last season and then leaves as soon as the real work begins. Not impressed.

I don’t actually think the guy can play the way we need him to. He just doesn’t do a whole lot on the pitch apart from moments.

Football has passed him by somewhat in recent years despite his ability to score goals. Players like Kane for example offer far more all round and score similar amounts of goals.

Because the kit launch stuff has been done and dusted for weeks now, and he clearly just dropped the leaving bomb recently.

Unless you think they can superimpose other faces over his, or digitally alter everything already produced?

Or of course, this whole thing has been massively overblown and club and Ronnie know he's staying.

We have such people!?
