Missed him today.
Yep, like we missed him in the reverse fixture, and every other game against mid table opposition where he’s blanked

Ronaldo has 10 nonpenalty goals, 6 of which have come against spurs and his debut. I don’t think he was missed and will be missed when we ship him out

Him being out allowed us to try all those other mythical options posters keep mentioning. A real success.

Yeah let's gloat about the fact that we're shit without him in the team, despite also being shit with him in the team. What an enviable position we find ourselves in

Didn't say a word about us being shit or not. Certainly not gloating.

But we've been told over and over about Ronaldo stopping us trying something new.

Was this the new thing?

Second time he’s done it now, think it’s pretty clear he treats the club with contempt and decides when he plays or rests, doesn’t turn up on match days or storms off down the tunnel. Great player but don’t think he wants to be here..
Or you know he's ill, the same way Jesse was vomiting and couldn't be subbed on

That would hold much more weight with me if it wasn’t reported last minute, just like the last time when he jetted off to Portugal and the players themselves said they were confused about that. It’s not that I don’t like Ronaldo quite on the contrary I’ve defended him to no end in this thread but I still don’t think with his behaviour he acts like someone that wants to be here.

Manchester United points per game last season: 1.93

Manchester United points per game with Ronaldo this season: 1.96

Really? Whats United points per game without Ronaldo this season then?

If we think CL is gone then there is no point playing any of Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba or Lingard. Or anyone who is unlikely to be part of the next phase.

This, there's no point in anyone gloating either side at this point. We're shite regardless and he's on £400,000 for the trouble. He started against Watford and Southampton, we drew. He didn't play against Leicester and Aston Villa, we drew.

He played against Man City, we lost. He didn't play against Man City, we lost! Sums it up.

This made me chuckle. And then weep a little.

That’s not the point. The idea from a lot of posters was that he was holding the team back and somehow was the singular thing stopping us from being this top side that could play good football. Ofcourse what utter rubbish that has proven to be.

The truth is we're slightly better with him in the team but he hasn't elevated the team which was why we resigned him.

Even if we still didn't win any trophies he could have elevated the team to win more league games and go further in the cups.

If he doesn't wanna stay, where would he go? Already been in Italy, Spain is of course out of the question. PSG not likely. USA?

Any respected CL club. Big % of his marketing value comes from CL football. He will not give up on that. At this point, Wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the likes of Dortmund or Porto, taking a pay cut.

0.93 I believe.

United's league games without Harry Maguire this season:

Everton DRAW
Chelsea DRAW
Wolves LOSS
Aston Villa DRAW
Watford DRAW

Average points per game without Maguire: 0.8 per game

Conclusion: It's not Maguire's fault that United are so crap.

Or maybe when he’s being rested because at his age he rightfully shouldn’t be playing every single game.

Or any of them for that matter. But if that's the case why not just say so?

It's not, we all know this. Some people just pick on individuals

No way Cristiano is going to MLS while Messi still playing UCL with PSG.
He is going wait until Messi leaves european football, and then probably a move to MLS or other tier 4 league seems viable.
And he won't have to wait that long, because Messi will go to Inter Miami once his contract with PSG ends (argentinian press leaked it).

Hol'on, hol'on, I have a better one! He's blamed for being greedy for wanting to play all the 90 mins, but then he's blamed for deliberately wanting to miss out on playing whenever he sits out

I'm starting to believe he will be blamed even if he wasn't at the club. :wenger:

Well it obviously isn’t.

So it’s 0.83 not 0.93 as I believed earlier.

The sample size is extremely small to make a useful comparison. Bruno missed two games and United won both these games, so the average without him is 3 points meaning he is useless and is "the problem" based on this logic))

Ronaldo only missed 3 games against Leicester, Aston Villa and City after he arrived.

United against those 3 with Ronaldo (with 2 games at Old Trafford): 0 point in 3 games - 2 goal scored vs 7 conceded - Ronaldo had 0 goals in these 3 games.
United against those 3 without Ronaldo (with two games away): 2 points in 3 games - 4 goal scored vs 7 conceded

There's a clear improvement playing against those teams without Ronaldo..

When you add the first 3 games of the season where Ronaldo did not play and United got 7 out of 9 points against Leeds, Southampton and Wolves without Ronaldo, the point average becomes 1.5 not to mention United was able to beat Wolves without him away and lost with him at Old Trafford..

This is in contention for one of the most embarrassing threads in redcafe history IMO.

Ridiculous how people seemingly can't wait to get their knives out.

It cannot be argued that Ronaldo is “the problem”. He’s been our only quality outfield player this season.

Also, I think we only have 1 win in around 10 games when Ronaldo is not playing/starting this season.

Maguire's is still better.
That’s not all Ronaldo has though. I’m pretty sure he has the most match winning goals for any league side in Europe. All of his goals have been pivotal for points and he has had 0 stat pad games.

It’s kinda wild how Rooney had a mild and logical critique of Ronaldo last night and Twitter is just full of people slating Rooney’s career and telling him to pipe down. Ronaldo fanboys are an odd bunch.

Which is crazy in a lot of ways but the idea that Rooney of all people doesn’t have enough prestige to talk about Ronaldo, then we might as well close this thread then! None of us are worthy.

He's had his moments(like his hattrick against spurs), but he's also been incredibly wank for tons of games. He's not "the problem". He's a player with problems due to his age. I dont think hes' part of a solution going forward after this season.

It's more "he's not the solution" than "he's the problem" and that's what most sensible people say only for his fans to get worked up/delve into childish discourse.

Rooney also said we should build a team around young players like Lingard and McTominay.

The problem was that Rangnick’s gegenpressing wouldn’t be possible with Ronaldo in the team. The problem now is that it isn’t possible with the rest of this squad either.

Rooney also said in the same interview that Maguire was World Class.

Rooney had an absolute shocker on MNF last night but he wasn’t too far off on Ronaldo, in terms of saying that we need a new young striker. However, it sounds awful when he’s calling for us to build around Maguire, McTominay, Shaw and Lingard. For me, I Ronaldo shouldn’t go anyway. He’s still awesome, and I think he’ll be a brilliant asset rotating with a younger man, who can also learn off him next season.

Nevertheless, it’s no excuse for anyone disrespecting Rooney. He called Maguire world class. He’s wrong, but it’s his opinion. He called Lingard young, even though he’s 29. Whatever, he also scored 253 goals for us and won literally everything aside from the FA Cup here. Ronaldo fans should also realise that Ronaldo does not do what he did in his first spell here without Wayne acting as the perfect foil. About the accusations of him being bitter about the 2006 World Cup, what’s wrong with that? England had a fair shot at winning it that year, and Rooney was the star man.
