Have to always preface this as the Ronaldo fan club always jump to his defence. Yes he is a legend! But he is so far off the standard for what a top 4 team should have playing up top:
- he can not run anymore, neither behind or past a player
- he hasn't and has never had the strength to play with his back to goal
- he is not a creative player as a striker
- he can not press and lead a line
- he is still a decent finisher but he is not the legendary finisher that he used to be

He should not be here next season. With regards to this season I would give elanga a go up top. Hes played there before, has the pace, presses and is good in the air.

It was sad watching Ronaldo today, the game at the top level has clearly gone by him. He'll still score the odd goal before he leaves, but he'll end up killing more attacks than finishing them.
WHy are people circulating this nonsense still, he's got one of the worst conversion rates in the league while fecking up many other chances because of his selfishness and simply not good enough ability anymore.

Just because he's ripped and make everyone around himself including himself belief he's one of the best proffessionals to play the game, doesn't mean he still has it to play in the Premier league. He became a joke, it's even more frustrating when he falls on the ground so easily and cry like a baby that the foul wasn't give, at least in his first stint he could makeup for this childish behaviour being a top class player.

Whilst I'm open to dropping him who do we drop him for?

Rashford is bang out form
Cavani is permanently injured
Greenwood is virtually not at the club
Bruno IS NOT a false 9

Does it really matter? We are basically playing without a striker with him on the pitch so why not go for it and put both Sancho and Elanga there. Both scored more important goals than Ronaldo recently. I would also rather play Rashford or Bruno there. We don't have a competent striker atm so just play without one instead of dropping players who have more to offer. We are sticking with sth that isn't working and it's really frustrating to me.

And in the summer we are in desperate need for a new striker.

Supported the club for 50 years and this is getting embarrassing watching a once great player play like a lamp post

Sooner or later we need to sign a younger forward. Ighalo (loan) , Cavani, Ronaldo, lets get it right next time shall we.

If someone did some homework, we would have Jonathan David in the cards by now. Don't sell me that shite about going for a big name like Haaland, especially with the fat cnut of an agent he has. There are solid upcoming strikers out there, waiting to be signed by us or by any other big club.

Getting angry why a 37 year old isn't carrying us is foolish. He's more or less done at this level but why are we relying on him in the first place?

Apart from playing Bruno as a false 9 there really isn't another option.
We're relying on him because according to The Athletic and the Times, Solskjaer pushed for this signing. The Times went on to say that Solskjaer even ignored the advice of his coaching staff to sign him, because. he felt the goals would make up for the off the ball issues.

Letting Martial go was a grave error.

I'd rather Martial who doesn't get many goals over a Ronaldo that doesn't get many goals.

The revisionism in here is crazy. He was great for 70 minutes today, was 2 inches away from scoring in off the post, 2 inches away from his goal not being offside & had a shot blocked off their line by Elanga. Tiny margins being the difference between 0 goals and 3. His passing was spot on, his link-up was good. He had a good performance. He was really poor in the final 20 minutes but guess what? He's 37 and is being forced to play every minute of every game in a congested schedule. It's not his fault the club decided to stupidly let Martial go on loan whilst having Greenwood locked up & Cavani glued to the medic's table.

Get him off your wage bill, use the money for someone like chiesa or even a crappy finisher like morata would add more value to you team. Hell just get ibra, at least he can still hold up the ball at his age
He should never have been on it. Only we were stupid and sentimental enough to buy him aged 37 as one of the highest paid footballers in the best/toughest league around. Bad decisions FC. Can't wait for the next feck up when we hire the wrong manager this summer.

Another schoking game, he's been so wasteful its unbelievable. I hope he's gone by the summer, he's getting worse and worse as games go by and his "untouchable" status is doing us no favors.

Any United fan thinking we're in for a chance with Haaland is showing scouse-like delusion. Wasn't going to happen last year and it definitely won't happen this summer.

Your club? It's a hell of a lot more his club than it is yours.

The fecker grew up supporting Madrid and fecked off to play for them in his prime. He didn't know united existed when I was supporting this club before the PL existed.

Thought he was good in the 1st half, if it wasn't for Bruno's selfishness he'd score a goal after doing great in the build up for that chance as well. In the 2nd half though he was not as good, it was probably tiredness. He played 90 minutes v Atletico 3 days ago, then 90 minutes again today. For a 37 year old that's a lot of football.

Not sure what you are responding to mate

Criminal we have no one else to rotate him with. He was done after 60 minutes.

Bruno scores any of the 4 chances he missed, if Ronaldo scores instead of hitting the post, being unlucky with the offside, half a yard in it or gets the penalty then he comes off 2nd half and gets rested.

None of the above happens so he has to play the full 90 minutes just in case a chance falls his way, poor management, poor play from Bruno all game, but you lot jump in here instead of there.

We shouldn't be reliant on a 37 nor a 20 year old to finish games that our "peak" players cannot I.e Pogba (2 chances missed), Bruno (4+ chances missed), Rashford (2 attacks at least broke down).

Ronaldo in a functioning team isn't a problem, in this team you could put any striker up there and they are going to struggle we just don't create clear cut or even half chances as much as the other top teams, our full backs basically cross to each other and Bruno seems to be passing it back to the opposition keeper more than not.

Ronaldo is a luxury player, that within the right set up thrives, in our team he's a luxury we literally can't afford or supply.

Never his fault.

I know. And being Canadian, I follow David's progress at Lille as much as possible while I'm enjoying the massive things he does with the national team. I just don't understand how we haven't set our eyes on him when hijacking a potential deal with Arsenal should be easy enough.

With Ronaldo and Cavani going downhill as they do, we did a shit job in January.

And yet he was more than happy to play for either them or Barcelona. He was just desperate to leave us for Spain.

We have a 37 who looks cooked and a 35-year-old as our starting strikers. This fecking club hasn't got a clue.

Missed some great chances today, but the slagging here is OTT. The underlying problem with Ronaldo is that we’re asking too much of a player at his age.

Exactly, not his fault our club decided to rely on a 35 and 37 year old strikers.

Can't do this in here apparently, you'll be painted as a butt kisser, Fan boy or any other narrative the majority in here believe because they fully blame Ronaldo on everything that goes wrong in every match.

Collectively we are crap, but it's solely Ronaldo's fault because he isn't carrying us like many either expected him to do or were really hoping he'd fail miserably at, sadly its the latter for now.

I know we don't have strikers with Martial and Greenwood gone and Cavani unavailable but Ronaldo can't start every game.

Maybe at somewhere like City, where the team and control a game with 10-men Ronaldo would be a decent poacher. But for any side that needs 11 players all contributing throughout the 90 minutes he is finished.

His legs so shot, even when dropping a shoulder it looks like slow motion these days.

He can't make it to the right positions in the box and is constantly behind the play or under the ball.

Still the GOAT for me, but even GOATs have a shelf life, done at this level.

Tend to agree, though I think, due to Ronaldo's ego, he's asking too much from himself too.

If Ronaldo's benched then the leaks would probably start again.

Nobody expects him to carry us. He doesn't have the all-round game for it.

He is 37 years old. It really can happen within a week at that age. The levels are that high

I know, I guess it goes to show how demanding the Premier League is. I'm not suggesting that he's done, though, far from it. I honestly think he could still contribute massively if we use him wisely. It's just that we don't have any options right now with the Greenwood situation and Cavani being the crock that he is.

You say that, but I'm sure in his negotiations to come here he sold himself to us as still being able to do it, an he certainly expects to play 90 minutes week in and week out.

He is paid at a level that should demand more. So I don't think there is a problem that we should expect it.

This signing has become Alexis-esque in terms of damage it has done to the squad.

Play Elanga at least on some days. He played CF in the lower leagues and can't be any worse

Would he accept a lesser role? Seen his reaction to being subbed? Or Sir Alex's comments when Ole put him on the bench? Look at his wages. Both he and the club wanted him to be the star.

Only seen bits and pieces of the game but wouldn't surprise me if this was the honest assement of the game. @GifLord can you shown me the chances being talked about here
