Herath is a little champion isn't he?

World's most under-rated bowler. I remember when I took him in the cricket draft and got laughed at from the people here :(

 Ya, I remember.

Sri Lanka have played some classic matches in recent time.

This one looks like another.

Very impressive from Pakistan to have them 7 down with just 3 bowlers.

Mahela signed off with a win. Fantastic player, another Test legend calling it a day.

All the players I grew up admiring have retired now. Think it is only Sangakkara who is left. Anyone know how long he plans on continuing?

Kabir Ali did his shoulder in the T20 semi final
So Flintoff is in for the final

Wicket with his first ball, too.

Hard to call this game - "Birmingham" look like getting 170+. Anderson very expensive with 0-41 off three so far.

Hopefully Flintoff will win it with a six off the last ball...

fecking fat Fred

Come on Brum!

14 needed off final over...

Great over under pressure from Woakes.

Very good final. Home team wins :D

Anderson barely ever plays for Lancs and whenever he does he gets tonked around.

Prosper Utseya just hit a massive six to win Zimbabwe a game against Australia for the first time in 31 years.

I'd be interested in the views of other cricket fans on the following article:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-cricket-2014/content/current/story/778117.html

I'll quote the first part to give you an idea of what it's about.

The contrasting expressions on the faces of the players told the story: whatever the gentle decline in popularity of county cricket over the last couple of decades, the prospect of a Lord's final still means a great deal. Warwickshire, winners of the NatWest T20 Blast not two weeks ago, go to the home of cricket with a chance of achieving a notable double.
So what a shame this game was witnessed by so few. Despite Warwickshire's best efforts - tickets cost a maximum of £10 and members of both clubs and U16s were let in free - there were fewer than 3,000 spectators inside the ground.
Compare that with a similar match from the not so distance past. In 1994, these sides met on the same ground in the semi-final of the NatWest Trophy. On that occasion a crowd of around 14,000 created a memorable atmosphere. Somewhere along the way, the game has stopped engaging with the mass market.

I think it's sad but true. I'm a keen cricket fan, I've been to watch England many times over the last 20 years as well as many visits to Derbyshire matches, home and away each season.
Now we're not a very good example because Derbyshire has never been a particularly well supported county, only really getting close to capacity if Nottinghamshire are in town for a T20 match on a sunny Friday night (as happened in 2013 and to a lesser extent this year).

How much county cricket does everyone else on here watch, if any? I think the schedulers, while they played a blinder in moving virtually all T20 matches to Fridays and staggering them throughout the season, there is still a lot of work to be done to get spectators back through the gates.

I suspect most fans did what I did and ended up watching the game on TV. I watched about 75% of the T20 games Sky showed and got to attend a couple of Warwickshire's games too. Personally, I have no interest in going to watch a 50-over or first-class game as I think they're too long and there's an inevitable lull in the game at some point. Yet, like yesterday's game, if it's on TV I'll end up watching most of the game.

Agree on the T20 scheduling being improved, as a result more crowds than ever before attending game. Whether having this game being played on a Friday or weekend would have made a difference, I don't know. However, I think the general interest in County Cricket has steadily decreased, so there should not be much surprise at the very low attendances.

What the feck?

Has he changed his action? If it's illegal now, then as others have said, why wasn't it illegal before?

They've changed the procedure now with more stringent measures. Hence why the likes of Williamson, senayanake and now ajmal getting reprimanded.

Long sleeve brigade are fecked.

But the 15-degree rule seems to be there for some time now, isn't it? Is there some change in the procedures?

Testing's happening in other centres now. The ICC thought that the centre in Australia is not good enough.

The West Indian spinner was also banned as was Gazi from Bangladesh..both recently I believe.

About time the iCC started taking this issue seriously.

I love Ajmal, he's been the only bright spot for us over the last few years, but it was quite clear his action was not legal. I'm in favour of more scrutinised testing.

They have not considered his medical reports yet according to Ajmal, this was purely based on his action. So he is confident was the medical reports have been viewed that he will be reinstated to bowl again. Pakistan need him as well, they are nowhere without him, there is not a stand out player in the lineup that performs consistently enough.

So the big 3 comes into power, ajmal gets banned right before the worldcup and ICC ignores his medical reports as well
Ajmal still reckons that they will consider his medical report:

Despite the massive setback, Ajmal is optimistic that he will be cleared by the ICC once they take his medical reports into consideration. Ajmal has always maintained that he has a medical condition following an accident that affects the movement of his elbow. Ajmal was last reported for a suspect action in 2009, but he had been subsequently tested and cleared with his unique medical condition being acknowledged by the ICC at the time.

“They're yet to consider my medical reports. Once they do it I am sure there shouldn’t be any problem," Ajmal said.

"If one has a medical problem what can he do? Even earlier it was more than 15 degrees only because my arm has a natural bend.

"I'm 100% positive and looking forward for the best and by the Grace of Allah I will be in the World Cup XI,” he concluded.

I hope Ajmal's cleared. I'm not in favour of chucking only with instances like Marlon Samuel where he is so obviously doing it to generate speed.

I find Ajmal fantastic to watch.

I was of the same opinion earlier when I thought that only his doosra was chucking but now it seems every ball that he bowls is illegal.
