Wtf Australia!!!

Superb fight back, that run rate is brilliant. SA feeling the losses of Kallis and Philander but that doesn't excuse Tahir's figures. I like him as a county bowler but he has really struggled at test level.

Match highlights on star cricket.

Just got home from work, switched tv on.. why on earth are they showing the highlights from the first test?

Pretty sure when I posted that, they were showing highlights of today's day. Imran Tahirs bowling was shocking.

Highlight starting again right now on Star Cricket.

Pwnage. That's the only word for it. Either that or Michael Clarke has been playing in god mode. How else could one explain Clarke scoring his fourth Test double-century this year, a feat that nobody, not even Bradman, has ever achieved?

How else could Australia have piled on 482 runs, the most they have managed in a day of Test cricket since 1910? But this was no video game. Graeme Smith couldn't switch off and start over, no matter how much he wanted to. Clarke finished the afternoon unbeaten on 224. That's two innings in this series for two double-hundreds.

Lara's test innings world record Threat Alert !!!!!

Dunno if Clarke is that selfish though.

Was looking at highest totals in tests earlier this morning. Lol Sri Lanka 5/903 or something.. Hahaha Ridiculous. Get to 650/700 by tea and declare I reckon. There was juice early on the first day.

edit: Oops, as I posted that Clarke dismissed for 230, standing ovation. Fantastic knock.

Clarke's wonderful knock finally ends on 230.

Lovely delivery from Morkel, he has bowled better than his figures suggest.

To be honest, not really. Way to much short and wide shite yesterday.

I think he's done quite well in the series as a whole so far, but he hasn't really had much luck with balls going past the bat or edges falling to safety rather than a fielder.

Although, I agree he can be too short and wide at times with his bowling, needs to improve his consistency.

He definitely bowled well enough to deserve 5 though, I agree. But yesterday he was way to short and wide.

He's a tall lad. It's always an extra dimension to your arsenal if you deliver from height.

550.. After that start, a bit underwhelming for mine. But I'd have snapped your arm off for 550 in the first innings against SAF.

Is Kallis' injury a hamstring? If he needs a runner, it will be a big problem especially if SA lose early wickets.

Australia vs SA never ends in draws. First test drawn and now this looks like it'll go the same way..

Looking forward to Faf du Plessis' debut. Well overdue. Quality player.

Our bowling is so tame.

No wicket taking nous, no thinking cricket bowling. It's just serve it up and whatever happens, happens. Pretty annoying that we can't find a more attacking spinner than Lyon.

Siddle's brand of workhorse but can't do anything with the ball is wearing thin on my eyes. He just doesn't do stone cold anything with it.

edit: ha_Rooney there are no runners in international cricket anymore.

Ah McGrath's catch against England at Adelaide. Blinder.

The excellent run rate the Australia maintained through out the first innings might help getting a result in this test match? How does the pitch look? Any sings of deterioration or is it a belter?

Aussies still in a very good position. First session today will be important.

I didn't know they stopped allowing runners. Harsh rule change imo, he didn't plan the injury and nor is he faking it to waste time. I suppose Kallis will not bat the first innings and will only do so if SA fighting for the draw? Seems a bit unfair.

No complaints about the flat tracks in the Aussies by the media then. No doubt we'd be hearing the stuff about test matches being dead due to flat pitches if this happened in sub continent.

The pitches all over the world have been getting flatter over the past few years. I have seen the same in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The Perth pitch, which was traditionally one of the fastest, is not the same any longer and doesn't offer the same pace and bounce.

Any experts on what is the reason for this phenomenon? Too much one day cricket? Or is that curators are asked to make these sort of pitches so that the game lasts 5 days?

Not good for SA so far, lost 4 wickets for under 30 runs and with Kallis unlikely to bat (he is padded up but would be a risk) it seems they may be following on.

Although, with their bowlers probably needing a rest, I wouldn't be surprised if the Aussies batted again.

A beauty from the Hilf!! Off stump goes flying, SA in big trouble.

It seems there is some movement for the bowlers to take advantage of today, up until now there wasn't much for them to work with.

Edit: Kallis does come out to bat. I hope he doesn't aggravate his injury.

Really do not see the point of Kallis being out there. Clearly in pain, he's probably going to make his injury worse when they're likely to lose the match. Poor decision to send him out there IMO.

Good session for Australia. SA 273/7 at lunch.

not on tv here.. looks like a good start to du Plessis' career. He's good enough to be one of the best in the world, IMO.

AB needs to sort his cricket out. Keeping clearly hurting his batting.

Australia back in to bat now. Hopefully we get a day or so of attacking batting to build there lead up to a decent level. Then give themselves a day and a half to get the SA out for a second time

Interesting poised test. Aus will attack, as they always have under Clarke. SA have the bowlers to turn around the test.

shouldn't it be on espn? It was yesterday
