Why aren't we ever touring Australia when they are in a mess

TBH in our best-ever tour of Australia and my favourite Indian cricket series (2003 away) we caught that awesome team at a low point: no Warne and McGrath.
Of course their mess then is nothing compared to now!

We don't have bowlers to win on Aussie pitches even now.

We'll get smacked around by Warner and Starc/Hazlewood will easily bowl us out with scoreboard pressure. They had very similar teams in the last 2 tours we did. 2012 when we got blanked 4-0 and the last one a couple of years ago were pretty mediocre Aussie teams.

One thing that annoys me about Australia losing is how unaccountable the media and fans seem to make Darren Lehmann. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not for one minute saying he should be sacked. However, when they win, it seems like he gets some of the adulation and credit but when they lose, no attention is placed on him. In comparison, the captain, players, selectors and Pat Howard cop the flak but boof escapes the flak. If he's going to get some of the credit when they win, he ought to have blowtorch put on him when they get beaten too. Many of the embarrassing collapses of recent years have taken place on his watch and he needs to shoulder some of the blame and questioning. Want to note that these are just my perceptions and not out and out facts. I will acknowledge, that Lehmann did admit he himself is under pressure at his press conference.

We may never see a dumber, more stupid shot this summer than the one by David Warner that saw him dismissed. At least I hope we don't. If South Africa gets a lead of 200, there goes the match and the series. Only two Australian batsmen made it into double figures; Smith and the debutant Mennie. Concerning thing here is this is all happening with arguable South Africa's best batsmen not playing in the series at all and their best bowler restricted just a few spells in the first test match.

Yeh, top quality

Shame it was overshadowed by the Bavuma run out though, if you've not seen Bavuma run out Warner yet, it is brilliant

Underrated aspect of this bit of fielding is that he did that with the short leg shin pads on.

Australia seem to have lost their way a little, heading for their 5th consecitive test loss. Batting looking fradgile and Starc or Hazlewood don't really look like filling Mitchell Johnson's boots.

There's 4 tests left in the series and the Bangladesh test win like two weeks ago was pretty great.
. Maybe if this was like the 3rd or 4th in the series I wouldn't feel so annoyed. To start the series with 5 days of nothingness blows. Poor Rajkot, can't see them hosting another test any time soon.

You'll be surprised. Rajkot is absolutely loaded with rich jewellery merchants and they'll continue paying the board to have more matches at that stadium.

You probably need to watch more of Starc then, he is certainly quality.

Australians selectors need to re look at the bowling combo, barring Starc and Lyon rest doesn't seem good enough, they struggle even in their home condition, rest of fast bowlers bowl all over the place there is no discipline, this should be the worst Australian side from past 25+ years or so.

We need our bowlers to actually bowl to get fit.

The australian team is being micro managed to a very negative effect

Aus lose their last 8 wickets for 32 runs to slump to 161 all out in 2nd innings, with Abbott taking 6/77 and Rabada taking 4/34. SA lead the three match series 2-0. Can't remember the last time Aus lost two home tests in a series.

With Steyn out, Abbott will hopefully get a regular run in the side. Looks to be a good player, also got a five wicket haul in Delhi last year and won the man of the match in this Hobart test with a 9-wicket haul.

Got to give South Africa immense credit for th way they've played over the two tests so far. For Australia though, this is the ultimate humiliation and the worry is this will get worse in Adelaide in a week or so. Pakistan, India and England are Australia's next test series opponents, so things could get worse before they get better.

No steyn, no AB and Amla has been meh and the saffers still thrashed us.

Pathetic from australia and changes need to be made

Wtf is going on with the Aussies?! Don't expect those performances, especially not in their own conditions!

Burns, Voges, the Marsh brothers, Ferguson and (maybe) Neville aren't good enough. Then you have others like Lyon and Khawaja who are nothing overly special, just good honest players. Need some more talent in the batting order and another highly-talented bowler.

I'm coming along to Ian Chappell's view that Australia needs to find some younger players to get themselves out of the predicament they're in.

Voges averages in the high 60's, though? Mitchell Marsh isn't half bad, but he seems to be crocked by injuries. The rest, I agree with. No idea how Ferguson got picked for a test match.

A fair chunk of why he averages in the 60's is because Australia played the West Indies last summer. On the ABC, Neil Manthorp said runs against WI need an asterisk beside them. Harsh but i can see his point. Against the better sides, Voges will be exposed.

Says it all really.

What happened to Jackson Bird and James Patterson?
Bird looked like a proper test match bowler when he has hit the scene.

Pattinson is injured too frequently. Joe Mennie got the nod ahead of Bird due to being a better batsmen believe it or not.

Lyon seems to be their only decent spin option. Need to find another all rounder to replace Marsh.

Always good to see the Aussies get thrashed. I hope they don't get their game together before they play us (India)
