when he retires, he will probably be seen as India's best bowling all rounder in tests since Kapil
He's going at a great rate right now and if I'm not wrong we have a lot of home tests lined up so he can stack up a few more quickly. His batting skills are truly impressive and he seems a more reliable batsman than Kapil to be honest.

 guess the choking curse isn't limited to the men's team
Almost immediately, England Women's team showed solidarity by losing their last 6 wickets for 3 runs.

In men's cricket, India beat NZ in Indore to sweep the test series 3-0. Ashwin finished with 13/140 for the match and 27 wickets in the series winning both MoM and MoS - his fourth MoS award in a row.

With his 20th and 21st five-wicket hauls in 39 tests, Ashwin has crossed Allan Donald and Daniel Vettori (both 20) and now equaled Jimmy Anderson and Clarrie Grimmett. Next up on 22: fast bowling legends Waqar Younis, Malcolm Marshall, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh.

Where are Australia's bowlers? Can't remember them ever having a more uninspiring bowling line-up.

Ashwins numbers are unbelievable. Then you go and see Murali and see that he kept up that pace for 130 matches (though he did seem to improve over the years).

67 5-fers in 133 matches, 22.72 avg.

Then there's Richard Hadlee with 36 in 86 tests at 22.29, 3rd most five-wicket hauls after Warne's 37 in 145 at 25.41

Meanwhile, I wonder if Tahir would run out of the stadium if he manages to take three wickets in an over, never mind a hat-trick.

Murali's stats are crazy, no one near that 67 mark.

Anyone following the ongoing farce of the Phil Hughes inquest?

His family are coming across really really badly.

Murali is amazing but you got to keep in mind he didn't have any world class or GOAT bowlers to share the wickets with. The only good/great bowler he had was Vass. It's similar with Ashwin in India now. A lot of the other great bowlers hunted in packs, which made it easier to get wickets, but harder to reach milestones like a five wicket haul.

Walsh/ambrose.
Wasim/Wakarusa.
The windies greats
Warne/McGrath
Pollock/Donald etc

Yep that's a valid point, but to do it by yourself is a lot of responsibility and pressure and still a massive achievement.

Stopped following it after the first day when they were questioning the bowling tactics and scapegoating Bollinger. The family are desperately trying to find someone to blame when in reality it was no one's fault. It was a freak accident. They aren't doing Phil's legacy any favours.

What are they saying?

Mathew Day, a player, said that at a party, Doug Bollinger told him that ' I sledged Phil and Tom (batsman Tom Cooper) that day telling him "I'm going to kill you". I regret saying that so much'. Day told this to Hughes' brother who said Cooper told the same.

This, along with a supposed statement by Trent Johnston (head coach of NSW), led to allegations that NSW had tactics to bowl short to Hughes (something which the bowlers and Brad Haddin the captian denied) and this resulted in his death

Frankly I don't see what is the point of the whole thing. Bowling short is a legitimate ploy and plus, it's unlikely anyone bowled with the intention of causing fatal harm to the player. As @Samid said this is unnecessary.

Aye i agree, short bowling is legitimate tactic and despite the tragic freak accident of Phil Hughes i would hate to see it removed from the game, it's one of the aspects that make it more exciting. The main thing is it does appear helmet manufacturers have learned their lessons and new helmets do have that extra protection under the back of the head.

Been following this inquiry. I can sympathise with the Hughes family as ultimately they are the most grieving party but implying that his death was anything other than a freak accident and it happened due to the other team tactics is very, very sad state of affairs.

Btw anyone following the Lodha committee thing? BCCI are bullies, but they have made a lot of effort in improving the state of cricket in India right from developing infrastructure, increasing the amount of pension to Old crickets to increasing the amount of pay for players in test cricket.

To go after them whilst completely ignoring the other sporting authorities in India who are disgustingly inept is a bit stupid.

Surprised we (Pak) didn't enforce the follow on.

The match's turned very quickly.

Bishoo's set up an exciting match, for the time being, but 340 is probably 150 too many.

Pakistan are firm favourites tho. Yasir spinning it a mile.

Dumbass shot from Brathwaite to get out.

Pakistan in a very strong position again, should win this game & wrap up the series from here.

17 (!) decisions have been overturned so far in the two on-going tests. Dharmasena (7), Gough (5) and Gaffaney (4) having shockers. Illingworth (2) doing better.

Hopefully no more tests without DRS.

There's an argument that umpires are increasingly relying on DRS to correct their errors rather than arrive at the correct judgment during the live play. I doubt it's something that can be proven as fans don't get to see the play from umpire's point of view. Some decisions look absolutely ridiculous to the naked eye (without the replays) but the camera angle probably makes a difference. Crowd noise affects on-field umpire decisions for close catches to an extent.

I have Dharmasena as one of the reliable umpires as he barely makes any complete feckups based on my viewing experience (except maybe one or two tests but so did my old favorite Shepherd when he missed no-balls for 4 English wickets against Pak; just a rare off-day perhaps). It's weird to see so many wrong decisions by him in B'desh vs Eng, especially in subcontinent as he's one of the rare umpires who understands how much a ball spins on a given track before judging LBW shouts.

Good India have decided to trial it in the upcoming series v England

Psychologically if I was playing India and won the toss I wouldn't even look at the pitch, conditions, weather or light. Why give the master of the chase a chance to chase?!
India will pi$$ this.

Yeah me too. Unless I back my team to put up 350+ I want Kohli batting first.

He's just so consistent. Already at 42* the RRR is far enough under 6 per over with 9 wickets in hand to make it a walk in the park from here. He's good enough when playing under pressure but when he knows he doesn't even need a run a ball....

Missed out on a big one though. Hes quietly having some LO year though. Shame India aren't playing many ODIs this year, or else some records might have gone.
This is his last ODI of the year I believe. Ind won't play ODIs again until next year, a 3 match series vs England as soon as the five tests are done. Kohli in ODIs this year - 10 matches, 739 runs with an avg of 92+ Also scored 641 runs in 13 T20I innings with an avg of 107.

Wtf... just turned it on & NZ 79 all out

South Africa are getting spanked.

Australia have taken four South African wickets after South Africa chose to bat. RSA 4/32 batting first at drinks on day one.
