Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

Incredible how much swing and bounce the English bowlers can extract versus the Indian bowlers.

Anyone see the movement on that ball caught by Strauss?

Bloody hell.

The commentators love laying into RP Singh, don't they?..

Feel a bit sorry for RP Singh, should not be playing given the only cricket he has played recently is the IPL.

He was vacationing in Miami when he got the call apparently..

Last first class game he played was in January, when he took 2 wickets.. his domestic record is very poor.. feck knows what the selectors were thinking

England look very strong, I even fancy our chances on the sub continent because we'll get runs and the England bowlers can swing the kookaburra ball as well.

More importantly we have a spinner who is actually a threat.

Indians...

Gavaskar
Tendulkar
Manjrekar

is 'kar' a suffix or something? if so what does it mean?

It's a naming system which vary according to region which are generally influenced by religion and caste. "kar" is generally a suffix used in the state of Maharashtra. All the cricketers you name are from Mumbai which is in the state of Maharashtra.

SG ball in the sub-continent, not kookaburra.

England's best chance would be dropping Morgan for Bresnan and playing 5 bowlers. The 4 bowlers I would choose would be Shahzad, Broad, Swann, Panesar.

Not as strong as the team in English conditions obviously(shorter top order, longer tail), but I think that'd give England the best chance.

Morgan is one of the best players of spin in world cricket but in the sub continent you probably need 5 bowlers because of the heat. Should be ineteresting to see how England line up in Sri Lanka in the winter. Our record there is abysmal but it will be a good indication how we'll cope against India later in the year.

I reckon you'll do better in India than Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan pitches are more spin friendly than ours, and they've better spinners than us right now.

I know he's got the reverse sweep but he was completely rubbish against spin in the IPL and kept getting out

When Shreesanth comes in, watch how Anderson will want desperately to bowl at him regardless of the state of the ball. Tasty little battle in which Anderson will surely bodyline him.
