Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

Well our bowlers did ok and the pitch won't have changed much in less than a days play.

Yeah but England's bowling attack is 12000x better than Indian one.

Well it's what you get when you make your bowlers play on dead wickets in India - they are just cannon fodder.

I think Sharma will end up being a very good test bowler, just needs a few more years. The others are very average, and there's no real quality spinner anymore, which is worrying for India.

Cook's looking quite out of form, but this is when you back his mental strength. Strauss on the other hand looking good.

After the retirement of Kumble, Spin has been a problem. The problem with Indian pacers is that all of them are good talents, but inconsistent. Some times it works beautifully but sometimes it's a horror show.

Inconsistent is an understatement. I think we're extremely biased and see players like Sreesanth as good talents when in reality they perform once every 5 matches. From stats, Bresnan is clearly a better bowler than Sreesanth, but you'd never see an Indian fan admit it. Players like Bresnan do it day in day out, we simply don't have any bowlers like that.

The sad thing is, this is the best we have to offer. Commadus is also right. It probably sucks the life out of these bowlers bowling on the pitches here. There must be about 3 decent pitches in all of India.

Players like Ashok Dinda bowl at 140+ in the limited overs competition, but they bowl 110s in the Ranji trophy. I saw Irfan bowling at like 110. It's never going to change as long as the IPL keeps rolling the money in..

Probably correct. I also think the bowling coaching is also screwed here. Pathan, R.P Singh all have gone from decent pacebowlers to rubbish. Their game has regressed instead of improving.

BCCI should cancel this match on account of the riots. Preposterous that the match has been allowed to go on. Cricket's just a sport.

You have to give the England bowlers some credit. Don't forget they are bowling out the best batting side in test cricket for fun. The ball that got Dravid out was just unplayable, and Bresnan's suposed to be the weak link in the side. England's bowlers will even be a handful in the sub continent. England are very blessed at the moment.

What is the point as a bowler to charge in on a dead pitch when all you will do is make it easier for the batsmen to hit as he has a bit more pace on the ball.

As a bowler you cut the pace off the ball and bowl about 75-80 making the batsmen having to hit the ball.

Change the picthes if you want better bowlers.

They look fat.

I think the money going into Indian cricket has actually regressed the game.

Amusingly Indian Board was the only board who opposed the starting of T20 World Cup because they feared that it might ruin the game, and now they've gone into overdrive into ruining this game.

But then that's always the argument in favour of why Sri Lanka produce so many bowlers with that something extra, Mendis, Murali, Malinga...as they have to have something special to have success on those kinds of pitches

Yep. And Pakistan's produce some of the best fast bowlers(and spinners) to have graced the game despite those conditions, so yeah, it's not a valid argument. Strange one, India have always had weak bowling attacks and very good batting line ups. It's odd.

lol

Pakistan and Sri Lankan pitches are not dead at all.

Of course they are. They've always been flat, which is why they developed reverse swing. The likes of Faisalabad are the flattest pitches in the cricketing world. There is a reason for this...and it's to do with advertising and sponsorship.

The Indian cricket team does not deserve to get paid for this tour. They have been absolutely shit this entire tour and it does not look like it is going to change. fecking money grabbing cnuts.

Probably with Lillie's fast bowling academy in India there might be a decent generation coming through.

I really hope so because right now they are all pretty much shit and inexperienced. And we don't even have good spinners. I just can't believe that.

If we can't win this test(and it's looking pretty damn impossible unless we do something magical in the next 2 sessions), I'd prefer us losing it over drawing it. A draw would paper over a few cracks.

Steady start from England so far, pitch looks flat as but slow so fairly difficult to score. India will do well to get in before tomorrow evening.

It's like you've been infected with Englanditis, while we've made a miraculous recovery

We're playing more like Bangladesh and you're playing like Australia of old. The difference is that big at this moment.

My word, Dhoni is an awful, awful wicket keeper. He can't catch.

Whitewash on the cards. India have been very, very disappointing.

i was skeptical about our chances before the series began, but this is beyond pathetic :(

More like Zimbabwe before they banned themselves from playing Test cricket (i know it is not that bad but just exaggeration for effect)

Mishra's ball to get Strauss out was a no ball

Even Simon Taufel's started feeling sorry for us

They should've all started packing the bag when Dhoni started hitting sixes.. this was inevitable

He's like a litmus test for flat pitches

That's true.

I can't stand the BBC online commentary. It's nothing to do with the match, it's all about Tom Fordyce or whoever. Stop showing off, stop 'bantering' like you're in the pub with your unfunny mates, and just tell me what's happening. Twats.
