If you cannot digest those numbers I posted, the problem is yours!

Everything has to be opened eventually, including football, but those choices have to be smart, and the de-escalation has to be scientific.

With hundreds of people dying in the UK every day, we haven’t reached that stage in this epidemic when non-essential entertainment activities involving intimate barrier-less contact between players can be envisaged. And I don’t even want to go into the endless debate on the availability and the accuracy of the Covid-19 rapid tests that are being planned for mass testing.
 
He specifically mentioned sports and said only within your own household.

The PL has to be done now

Maybe if we have two teams of brothers and staff, match officials etc that happen to live in the same massive house, might get away with it then ?

Not having a go, but these sort of posts are bizarre. We've done this over and over on this thread. You can talk about football as a relief from the real world disaster, and no-one is proposing anything above anyone's health. If you can find someone who has done, please share it.

In Liverpool they all shag each other anyway so chances are the home grown talent are all related to each other one way or another.

They'll get the title by hook or by incest.
 
I've not totally followed each comment on this thread but has anyone suggested a statistically worked method of "points per game" based on - home and away fixtures to play with an allowance for the quality of opposition and also including recent form of the team and opposition ?

I'm sure this would be possible and become the fairest prediction of the end of season positions.

If we did manage to get the remaining fixtures played - Liverpool would be "resting" players in the squad after the win the league and mid table teams wouldn't have anything to play for etc etc - I know this can happen in most seasons but with CV it will become even more likely.

I seem to remember a certain manager saying football was more important than "life and death" - if playing out the season results in just one more death that's come true......

League 1 and 2 are apparently talking about PPG split on home and away games completed.
But they won't dip down to difficulty of games played or taken.

It is flawed though as if there's any time of season games throw up oddities it's when teams are scrapping for their lives.

That football being more important than life of death was always a metaphorical thing, as only an idiot would believe it otherwise.

Not only that but you get some weird results from mid table sides when the heat is off. That will be magnified by 50 if they have to have preseason before they play for nothing during a pandemic.

Most of us have hours in the day to fill at the moment, and while of course football isn't that key in the scheme of life, we're still interested in wondering how it'll pan out of course.

Other than alot of clubs fighting to exist still if this goes as long as it could, so getting in some playing time whilst they can, and more importantly revenue now, whilst knowing full well there are massive issues ahead, is surely sensible.

We have Weatherpersons saying they want to open in June, airlines looking to the government for help, hospitality up and down the country furloughing staff, yet football is expected to bare the brunt, whilst still not been allowed to plan for a restart as soon as they can.

Mate I own restaurants and other businesses I know more than most about furloughing staff and the stress it brings . It's sad that some clubs may fold but lots of businesses will fold because of this situation.
Not one single life is worth opening my restaurants or playing football for .

Just my humble opinion

This is rubbish mostly.

Majority of Liverpool fans will obviously want the season to continue but the ones in here haven’t made a thing about doing so “at all costs” . This is a blatant untruth.
And as for everyone else, again it’s always been if/and when lockdown is lifted for everyone else too hence the June restart dates. The discussions are based on this premise. I don’t think I’ve seen one person suggest football should get the go ahead before everything else or as soon as possible. And then you’ve got at least half the thread who don’t believe football should restart at all. So you’re having a go at an imaginary group of people.

Seems like you’ve just strolled in this thread without having actually read most of it, made some assumptions, taken your position on top of your moral high horse and dropped a big load of verbal diarrhoea.

But restaurants will likely open in a certain format very soon, as will loads of other businesses, and long before football is looked down on for daring to think about returning, that's my point, it's all about survival/protecting of whatever business you are in, and that sadly just comes with risks attached atm.

Far in the future when this pandemic is under control, long after this season has been called null and void, most same people will look back on this period as a bleak realisation of humanity's precariousness, and with relief that the worst of the virus is behind us. Liverpool fans will only remember that their club was best over 29 games, and lament how they were screwed out of a fecking football trophy.

What about when furlough ends and opening your restaurant in some capacity is the difference between some of your staff being able to feed their kids or not?

The world has to start spinning again at some point or the NHS will run out of money which means they will have no money to even attempt to get the adequate resources to fight this virus, and any that pop up in the future.

I think he/she said they absolutely guaranteed that there'd be football back before the end of April and someone (quite a longstanding poster) bet it wouldn't and said they'd leave the Caf if wrong. Asked him/her to agree to same.... never got a reply.

He said work from home if you can, but if you can't, then go to work but don't use public transport. So it sounds like players will be back in training soon?

The reaction I've seen so far from the public is one of anger and confusion.

We will find out more over the next few days. Right now it's anyone's guess.
 
I laugh at Pool fans blaming Brighton players for catching COVID-19, making it as if it's a conspiracy against them. Well done, that's a very classless thing to do which clash with their philospoopy. The real conspiracy here is actually the FA going out of their way to crown Liverpool champions. Why?

Liverpool have a global following of 100 millions (twitter followers might be included) and people love the old comeback, rising from the grave type of thing. It's how They get views in WWE and even Indian soap opera. The resurrection of Liverpool gave most of those 100 millions erections and They are now sleeping in Klopp pajamas, eager and waiting for the 'cycle' to be finished by Liverpool winning the Premier League. These armchair fans are a massive source of income for the TV money because let's be honest, as much as Pool fans like to ridicule other clubs for having 'plastic' followings, Liverpool is actually very popular outside of the UK. I'd say They're even more popular than Chelsea and City. Crowning them Champions = loadsa money and helping the PL to stay on top of other leagues. That's why when there news about Bundesliga's return They shat themselves.

You are correct in one way. But he also said sports - family only. And social distancing on top of that.
 
Thinking that Brighton or any other players would purposefully infect themselves should be a step too far for any decent human being. Only one thing would be worse in the footy context — players being tested positive but the club concealing or falsifying the results.

I‘d like to think that nobody would be willing to do either.

This is what I worry about. With some wanting football to proceed at any cost and so much money at stake. I mentioned that couple of posts ago when I talked about Germany. I hope that there is independet testing or at least doctors that aren’t connected to football that does those tests.

Conspiratiorial. A little bit.
 
According to the Liverpool Echo the PL have reached an agreement with genetics testing company Prenetics (also known as CircleDNA) to carry out C19 testing if Project Restsrt happens.

Results expected 24 hours after test - drawn criticism from Dr. John Ashton as NHS and other key workers have to wait between 24-72 hours for their results.
