Could they void the PL due to the Coronavirus? | No | Resuming June 17th

It wasn't UEFA, it was actually FIFA.

While it says it was proposed, it is also mentioned that the proposals have been made with the agreement of major stakeholders. And it actually makes sense that contracts are running until the end of season.

Accordingly, FIFA strongly encourages clubs and players to work together to find agreements and solutions during the period when football is suspended.

And thats about all they can do encourage clubs and players to extend contracts, but they won't be able to force them to.

Just been reported that we may struggle to keep Ighalo as his parent club want him back in time for the new Chinese league to start.

Not sure what to make of this as I really like the guy but don’t want us spending over £20 million on him.

Would put us in a difficult situation if true.

Anybody know when Sanchez is back?

Huh? He’s just on loan??? Omg I thought we sold him!

The way the UK govt are managing the pandemic you could be forgiven for thinking that they are trying their best to reduce the possibility of a second wave by just sustaining the first wave.

Just bin off the league as it stands, no champion or relegation. Can't complete without home or away would be totally unfair and farcical.

Decide top 6 for Europe with a seperate one off round robin then Knockout tournament

Simple.

I don’t think CL/EL football will happen next season.

They can only try to ask players and clubs to come to some agreement. And that agreement can only be done individually. Legally, they can't do anything or they would be drowning in lawsuits.

A contract is a contract. There is a start and end to it. Unless a player and club agree on something else it is what it is.

Given the number of players who had cardiac arrests over the years, the safest thing would be to ban professional football altogether.

Worst post of the year so far. Well done.

It will probably go down to votes among clubs. So, a lot will depend on how the questions are framed. If the voting is on discrete questions, Liverpool will probably be winners, else they may not.

1. Should the PL declare Liverpool as champions based on current league standings? Yes/No (as a separate question)
Inference: Liverpool will be Champions.

2. The same question, if framed differently.....Should we declare relegation and a winner based on current league standings?
Inference: Liverpool will not be Champions.

3. If the votes are transparent, Liverpool have a greater chance of being crowned as Champions than if they are anonymous.

Should this season counts :

If you fare better than last year : Yes
If you far worse than last year : No

That's all each club should vote, i don't think they care about Liverpool. The only thing that matters is which options benefits them the most. Not helping Liverpool is just probably a tie breaker.

The Scouse conspiracy nutjobs are out in force on social media harping on about how "convenient" it is that a player from a relegation threatened team has contracted Coronavirus.

The victim mentality is ingrained in their DNA. The whole world is conspiring to deny Liverpool their first title in 30 years.

Unless you’re on the Interpol top 1000 or world richest 10,000, or a serving politician etc, I doubt anyone really cares about your personal details.

The level of narcissism involved in majority of people’s privacy issues is alarming and funny at the same time.

That's a tragic opinion about the basics of freedom.

Has anybody asked the question how 3 players in the same team that were supposed to be self isolating have all caught the virus at the same time?

What makes you think they caught the virus at the same time?

Around four weeks, I'd say. No football for the rest of the year is absurd.

The FAs in Spain, Italy and England are working intensely on coming up with a plan to restart their leagues. You could be forgiven for dismissing Germany's efforts in the beginning because they were the first, even though the league had been openly briefing everyone for a while. But to still to be claiming there will be no football for the foreseeable future is bordering on wilful ignorance at this point. And do not confuse the question of whether or not the league will continue with whether it is (morally) right to do so or not. This is what the discussion with regards to Germany seems to have shifted to now that everyone has realised the Bundesliga is indeed continuing next weekend.

Are you sure? whether there is or isn't is based on speculation; at this point Germany are planning games whereas GZ aren't advertising games yet. Who is correct? Why would one be correct for the UK and another not? Is one place ignorant and the other not?

I love a bit of game theory; I wonder who will schedule the questions? Will other clubs veto the Liverpool question unless theirs is asked first.. I'd like to be in that meeting(s) watching and smirking as Ed sits there stroking his white cat.

You said if a footballer has to look after an elderly or vulnerable person they shouldnt play, which leads into the question of fairness
Yeah I guess, but I wasn’t actually talking about that or making any points relating to fairness or other.

Oh i know you weren't but i just thought id piggy back of where the conversation you were having eventually led you to.

I don't know what GZ means.

If Project restart falters then one of the options will likely be PPG. If this is used with separation for home and away games to account for teams having more home games left (I understand this system is under consideration for L1 & L2) it would make for an interesting final table at the bottom.

Because West ham have a poor home record they would drop into the bottom 3. Karen Brady would be apoplectic with rage but the likes of Bournemouth, Watford and Brighton would no doubt support it if it came to a vote (Villa and Norwich are the other two who would go down).

Using this system Utd would pip Sheffield Utd to 5th on goal difference.

West Ham being stitched up at least gives that system some upside then.

Exactly. Who gets to frame the questions? And what bias will that person have? Every word matters.

One thing not being mentioned is the integrity & professionalism of the league if this season gets restarted in the middle of a pandemic. I expect any games played would be many times worse than the poorest friendlies as many players do the minimum in them & avoid contact as much as possible. By the way this is no criticism of the players, as I would do the same. Mine & families health would be the greater priority. If this happens expect the lawyers to be out in force when teams use this excuse if they are relegated or miss out of Europe. Burnley to win all 9 games & Man City to win none.

This fiasco needs to be put to bed straight away, & the greedy parasites need to get their ill gotten gains another way.

19/20 is done tbh. No way this season restarts. 5 cases in La Liga and 2nd division, too

Huh? He’s just on loan??? Omg I thought we sold him!

Ya - I've been dealing with this for 3 windows now on Football Manager - trying to shift his 400k p/wk wage is impossible. You have to literally pay clubs to take him away for another year.

Is there a system being proposed that allows for both Liverpool and West Ham to be screwed over?

If so, where are we allowed to vote?

That word has been continually mentioned for weeks and weeks. At first by the Liverpool fans, but not by any team that feels they might miss out

Seeing them go down would be lovely

Watching Karen Brady's reaction would be very special indeed.
We all knew her initial comments about voiding ages back were self serving, but then she had a bizarre U turn.
We await the next U turn!

No chance for PL to bin the league. They only care about money.
They do care about money, but eventually they'll have to admit defeat. This season will end, and the current standings will be final. I also dont think there will be any relegation or promotion.

Another 3 cases in Brightons squad. 5 more across top 2 divisions in Spain. Entire Dresden squad in isolation. They're pissing in the wind if they think the EPL will be finished. No chance

I'm sure you've always been a big fan of Brady though? And her daughter..

No, I have been on here from the start on & off, but 282 pages of posts can have effect on the brain cells :)
