Conte | Spurs Manager

That makes that a lot less hyperbole. Thanks for the explanation.

Rather. I think what he was explaining is that winning the PL at Chelsea is somewhat expected (or at least moreso 5 seasons back, before City and Liverpool were up there), and finishing 2nd is/was/would be underwhelming.

Winning the PL at spurs would be incredible; but so would finishing 2nd. It's a different level of judged success that makes the job he had, and the one Poch had, very, very distinct.

They’ll want him to get Spurs into Europe, ideally top 4 ….they’ll back him In January if necessary.

I think they might make some minor additions in January - like a backup striker, or midfield depth - but bigger additions will wait until the summer.

None of the top players being discussed as potential targets - Kessie, Vlahovic, Bastoni, Brozovic, Ramagnoli - are guys who are likely to move in January. Milan could win Serie A for the first time in a decade and Inter needs to qualify again for the CL, they are not going to gut their teams in January. Fiorentina is competing for a European place and aren't going to sell their best player either unless somebody offers a truly stupid amount of money (which Daniel Levy certainly doesn't do). That some of these guys will leave on frees in the summer doesn't really change the calculation much from the club's perspective. Those players will also be very tough signs for Spurs due to their wage structure. Some club will definitely offer Kessie, for example, 300K per week if he leaves on a free. Not sure it will be Spurs, given that Kane is their highest earner on 200k per week.

Bear in mind that £200k is just basic salary. It's widely known that DL prefers a generous bonus structure, so Kane's equivalent salary last season was no doubt significantly higher

Let's see if Levy listens to Patricci and Conte. After all, Poch said the squad needed a major overhaul, Mourinho said the squad need a major overhaul as well. Nothing was done.

Spurs have a huge debt to pay back on their stadium loans. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds...

Think Romero, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Hojberg, Reguilon, Emerson constitute something of an overhaul.

Is it just me or, not counting Poch, Spurs is the place managers go to to kill their managerial reputation?

We might have dodged a bullet here.
I don’t think Solskjær and his coaching staff is qualified to be at Manchester United, but I’d rather just keep them instead of going for Conte. I just don’t think we would be a good match.

I prefer a more attack minded manager like Zidane, Ten Haag or even Brenton Rodgers (misspelled on purpose).

But not a good one i guess. They will have good amount from Kane sale next summer. It will be interesting to see how much is re invested

Well Spurs was certainly the level Mourinho was at after his sacking with us, Conte though has just won the league with Inter you'd think he could have got a better job

Must need the payoff money

He will get 20m for 18 months.

They must have made him some promises and he must have met them half-way realizing fully well that a vacancy at one of top clubs isn't imminent. It is a marriage of convenience.

Bit of a stretch to call Spurs a top club, I feel they have regressed more than gone forward from the Pochettino era. You could argue that Hammers are on par with them and Leicester are above them now.

Utd haven’t dodged a bullet…

They’ve missed out on the perfect manager to turn the club around.

And I think it’ll be a mistake too far for the Glazers.

I really, firmly believe that as Conte puts his mark on that Spurs squad, and people see what the Glazers rejected, it’ll bring more pressure on them and make even more obvious how clueless they are.

This was the chance for Utd to stop fecking about and step up, and they’ve rejected it.

Quote me on that, I’m really confident about it.

They have one of the best football stadiums in the world and a world class training ground. Yeh the team needs work, but the foundations are there.

Its whether Conte is the right man for Spurs....

Agreed, no arguments from me.

Genuinely believe Utd have fecked up big time by not hiring Conte.

We all want Ole gone. But most people don't want this guy and his terrible negative defensive crap. We've had enough of that under Mourinho. And at the moment we are watching some of the worst football ever.

What I want is attractive attacking football for a change. Ten Hag as manager and VDS as director are the perfect duo. It's amazing what they are doing at Ajax. I have wet dreams imagining what Ten Hag could do with this group of players. I also think Sancho is tailor made for his style of play.

just please no more defensive crap with 5 defenders.

Can you explain how exactly Conte is playing negative defensive crap? But with some facts? I can help you.

In his very first season in England, when he took over team that finished 10th, cause Chelsea finished 10th, he outscore the so call best attacking coaches in the world - Guardiola and Klopp.

His team finished first and scored 85 goals, while City scored 80, and Pool 78, we scored 54 goals that season with Mou. The comparison between them is a joke.

In his first season at Inter, they scored 81 goals, and in his second(winning title as well), they scored 89. Only Atalanta, who is highly attacking team have scored with just 1 more goal more, but they concede like 20-30+ goals more.

When you claim something, it's a good thing to use some real arguments/facts at least.

And whoever think Conte is playing defensive football, it's either lacking a basic football knowledge or hasn't watch his team at all.

Words can't describe how bad the comparison is.

Conte is a world cĺass coach in his prime while present day Mou was one of the worst managers in the league by the time he left Tottenham.

This could well come back to haunt United. We have yet again missed out on a highly successful coach.

Think he’ll try hard for Conte
Agree. Kane has the benefit of doubt not performing under a manager who is considered out of his depth. However, under a top class manager, you're damaging your own reputation if you still fail to perform. Continuing to push for the move or not, you need to save your career now under this circumstance.

Vitesse nearly scoring twice before Son bags one. Son may have broken a leg when he kicked the ball, past injuries at Old Trafford in mind.

It always is when a manager takes over a team. Everyone's intensity goes up tenfold. Wait 6 or 7 games for things to plateau then see how it goes.

Spot on

They just look much, much more motivated and free flowing.
Nuno made a big mistake putting that side out. So many changes. It just gives the impression he didn't want to win it. Conte has put his first team out, so they know they are being assessed. They also know Conte will want to win.

Well I'm already halfway there with my dad supporting them, game tonight has no feeling to me at all. I really hope they get 4th and then see just how loyal these yankee scumbags are to their precious little Norwegian shield
If supporting the club comes down to who the manager is then you had no real affection to begin with.

I know its a shit team, but we are playing so differently.
