Conte | Spurs Manager

My understanding is that there is an option for the club to extend his contract by a year which they could do at any time. I do think there is an issue here around the way it looks though and I'd much prefer he signed a 3 year contract and commit to the club. However I think the reason he isn't doing that is because he doesn't yet trust Levy to back him sufficiently so it's as much Levy's fault as Conte's. In fact, I'd argue it's mostly Levy because Conte doesn't really have to be here, he could walk away and get another top job within 6 months - the pressure is on Levy to show him that the ambitions of the club match the ambitions of Conte. I have no doubt Conte would stay for a few years at least if he knew the club was going to back him through the rebuild.

We are at a crossroads (yet again) - squad needs major overhaul, Levy looks like he is meddling again and fecking things up in the background and in Conte we have probably the first manager that I can remember who is strong enough to push back on Levy and call out the club for lack of ambition - this is why a lot of Spurs fans are now turning against Levy because we all know Conte is right.

Good reply, cheers. Does seem Levy really does need to make a decision on whether to back him or not because it's in a state of flux right now, with nothing really happening. Especially with how competitive the league is this season seems paramount to make a decision on what's happening ASAP.

Will be on a plane back to Italy on July 1st at the latest :o

I would genuinely dislike having Conte at my club. His personality is like end stage Mourinho but he skipped the phase where Mourinho was charismatic and likeable.

From Transfermarkt, Spurs spent 170M last summer on arrivals

He doesn't seem to be the type of manager that can improve players ! His answer to problems is to spend more money !!

Not his biggest fan, far from it, but wish him a speedy recovery.

I've had my gallbladder removed. The pain before was awful. But after the surgery I was told I could return to work the following Monday.

Considering he'll have a less physical job and have much better care, I'm unsure why he needs a period away

Hopefully the surgery goes well and he is back in the dug out soon. What an awful year he has had though. Losing three close friends and now this.

People keep writing him off but you look at his managerial career and only once his team underperformed in the league relative to expectations.

Unlike Chelsea and Liverpool, Spurs look alive atm and despite some poor results, top 4 is very much still on for them.

Yeah but it really is a scattergun approach. Look how many DM's they have.

As bad a defensive performance as I have seen in ages.

Comedy gold, Dier's position for that first goal  isnt he meant to anchor the back 3? Like he had a brain aneurism and thought he was a DM again.

They play better when he is away.

35 goals conceded in the league.

Embarrasing for the central defenders and Conte. 3 at the back and getting 35 goals put past you.

Spurs have one good defender in Romero, Davies does a job. The rest of them are bang average or clowns.

I bet Joe Lewis will be thinking of selling out soon. If the best manager that they can get for Spurs can't make it work, what hope is there for the future?

They have tried every possible type of manager profile -- up & coming tried & tested to league experience to no league experience to former players to those who don't know how to use technology, Possession based to pragmatic to ol' skool; English, Dutch, Portuguese to Spanish, Italian, Swiss, Argentinean to french....

What other possible managerial profiles can there be out there? At some point, Lewis has to just say, feck it! and just simply enjoy his sunset days in the Bahamas.

Watch him get sacked just before we play them in April, so we can get new manager bounced for the 573rd time this season
